    Third wave of Empire releases

Haven't seen this online so I figured I'd post it here. If it's been seen already, feel free to lock/delete/whatever. Anyway, it's a pic of the 3-D render printout the design team had at GD Baltimore of the eventual plastic Steam Tank.

    Enjoy...

    Cheers, Gary

    Third wave of Empire releases

Supposedly there is a third wave of Empire releases (the first came with the army book, the second with the plastic Flagellants and Helblaster/Helstorm) in june 2009.

The new models are currently looking to be:
    - plastic Greatswords (box of 10)
    - plastic Archers / Huntsmen (box of 10)
    - plastic Steam Tank (box of, obviously, 1)
    - metal Marius Leitdorf, the elector count of Averland
    - At least two additional models. It is being speculated that these are the two empire character models shown in post #3 below, the Empire Captain with sword & shield and the Empire Captain with hammer & pistol.

There is also a new background book out, detailing the different Empire provinces, their uniforms, banners and suchlike.

Hopes that you could also make the War Altar from the Steam Tank kit, sustained because there is a Steam Tank in Warhammer Age of Reckoning with a big griffon statue on it, turned out to be incorrect.

Anyways, even at a conservative estimate, we are looking at five more plastic kits before you can say that the line is 100% plastic and even then you are lacking a handful of mounts. And of course the special characters, who it would be pretty pointless to cast in plastic.

I just can't see them putting out five new plastic kits in a year. Two, maybe three, might happen.
Special characters aside ... The Griffon, Pegasus and Robot horse are just mount options .... You could still take the character choice in plastic without these mount options ....

.... So all you would need IS three kits.

    1) Steam tank with Master Engineer on the sprue.
    2) War Alter with Warrior Priest/Arch Lector on the sprue.
    3) Greatswords

    It's doable.

And a qustion to Harry pls (to combine with my pervious one concerning the Greatswords.) If they will be new sculpts, will they look anything like the concept art on pg43 of the Empire army book? - prays

Not just remade. New sculpts. Yes, sculpted to fit the new look of the Empire models but more than this sculpted with interchange between kits in mind. These were sculpted by Mike Anderson who was one of the guys involved in the those kits and the guy who has been sculpting those great Empire citizens. So we are in for a treat.

I don't have the Empire book in front of me but if Page 43 is a bit of Gallagher artwork of a Greatsword then you can be pretty sure these will have something of that about them.

Expect individualistic models. Any individual plastic Greatsword would look great as a Captain or a Champion for a unit of the existing state troops.
I can't wait for more bits to mix and match and create new individuals.

Hints. I know it's hard to imagine bigger plumes than those on the state troops but ... The only things bigger than the greatswords are the plumes.

Plastic Steam Tank, picture from the GW mailing list. Thanks to DragonPup

As you can see, it appears to be scaled down a bit compared to the current version, to make it able to fit (more or less) on a chariot base.

Note that the back wheels are spoked and the bling-bling attached to them is removable.

Very cool kit from Mr Grayson IMO
Brief was there being nothing wrong with the metal one ... make it in plastic.

Okay, some more from Games Day France care of citadela.org.

Decent shots of both Empire Captains in bare metal (note hammer not axe on the first one... just like the green) and the Archers sprue!! Izzat a dead Orc?! Sweet!

Also Steam Tank sprues for the hell of it (have we seen them in their entirety yet?) and a few not-so-great photos of painted sword-carrying Captain, Greatswords and Archers.

Yeah, it seems people haven't been able to get any great shots of the sprues in that cabinet yet. Which is a shame, I've been waiting to see the IG Command Squad sprues for ages.

This is a reasonably nice shot of the Captain with sword though.
