Sweet! This is just what I supposed that would happen when I started my military service: I miss all the good stuff people do!

I just wish I had as much time as you do. Two days in a week is not enough..
Anyway, thanks for bringing me some fresh ideas to think, I will definitely be doing some crazy conversions in the not-too-distant future.

And from now on I'll sure be eyeing these pages more oft than not.

    The Goat has awaken.
If you liked my comment, please return the favor and comment on something I've made!
How about checking out this random cavalcade?

I'm crazy and I'm Finnish. Don't blame me, it's the polar bears!

Welcome back Goat of Yuggoth. What type of military service are you serving conscription or career? What branch.

Much appreciated in regards to the tervigon.

Funniest/coolest line I've read on Warseer! And a pretty good description of the plogs above.

Here in Finland we serve a compulsory time (6-12 months) and move to reserves. I quess that is equivalent to conscription.. I'm currently a Jäger (hunter, footslogger, forest-warrior, whatever) and being trained with an assault rifle. However I'm moving to the artillery in two weeks time, to be trained as an Artillery Observer Officer (I will direct the indirect - FIRE!). I'm probably stuck here for the next 11 months.

    Have you served already?

Yup, I've finished my initial 2 and half years conscription (which in my world makes you one lucky bugger. In comparison to me that is.)

I was training as a normal grunt until I had some complications with skin problems and got shunted into being a "scribe for the imperium".

I've even completed my ten year training cycle for reserves, and am now in what's called Mindef reserves. What that means is I'm essentially civilian, but am still liable for service if and when the government says jump. Never happened before, though. I guess they only call that into effect if say the nids attack!

That makes me kind of like the IG actually. No say in your own like what so ever. Come to think of it, it sounds like the nids as well!

    Cheers

Re: A 40k project log (Easternheretic's Peach Blossom Isle)

The 40K gaming group that I hang out with has decided to hold another "Convert a model and paint it challenge." For those who remember, the last model I converted for this challenge, was a striking scorpion wraithlord.

While I hope that the tervigon I recently converted for a friend would qualify, I have my doubts, as I won't be painting that model.

As such, so as to not fail the challenge, I've decided to convert a farseer on jetbike. The last time I had a game with eldar, my farseer on foot bought the instant death farm after being hit by an assault cannon from a terminator. I'm hoping the added mobility of the bike can help me avoid the same thing happening again.

Besides, a farseer on jet bike can be on cool looking model, and an excuse to make a seer council on jetbike in the not too distant future.

Anyway, I have a predilection for female farseers, and have decided that the jetbike mounted one will be female as well. The cunning plan is to recycle the head that I converted for my foot slogging farseer for the jetbike mounted one. I just claim its the same farseer if need be!

I used the female guardian torso once again, as the base for the farseer, as well as the legs and arms from the jetbike riding guardian. Obviously GS robes were the only option, so I had to try my hand at GS sculpting again.

I also wanted to convert the jetbike itself, as I not overly fond of the jet bike as it stands at the moment. Plus, I figured that an HQs jetbike must stand out more than a normal troops bike. I suspect that lurking in every geeks heart, is a soft spot for the X-wing in Star Wars, so I had to pay homage to it on my farseers bike!

Anyway pictures tell the whole story.

All that is left is to do is to paint her up. I have 2 days to do it. Hopefully it will be enough. If not, I claim the tervigon ate my paint brushes!.

    As usaul, C&C welcome!

    Cheers.

Ah putty my boy, but you seem to forget, mere mortals can't paint as fast as an honest to god painting machine like you!

I was contemplating getting a living saint model, and doing a head swap. However, the price of the model is a bit step just for a head swap. I'll be forced to make a helmet version anyway, if I want to field both the farseers in a game.

I kind of doubt that the headless horseman mythos is still being told in 40K years time!

I've got some WIP shots of the jetbike riding farseer. There is a lot more painting to go before she's done. Just sharing since you asked! Thanks for having a look!

The converted tervigon that I made for a friends has been painted, and I have pictures! He's also used the boneswords I converted and had them painted up as well. They are on the 2 nid warriors right at the bottom.

    As usual C&C is welcomed.

Sorry for the double post, but we have this 4 image limit after all.

I've got a friends converted Doom Eagle Captain assaulting the Tervigon, and thought I'd share! The captain was converted for the conversion challenge I was talking about. Obviously my friend met the dead line, while my half unpainted farseer shows my failure.

Re: A 40k project log (Easternheretic's Peach Blossom Isle)

Leogecko, Norsehawk, thanks for the encouragement!

I've finished painting my trygon/trygon prime/ mawloc, and I've got pictures!

All that's left is to sculpt a hole out of GS to simulate the trygon bursting from the ground from an oval cut CD. The original base was sacrificed to the
tervigon I converted for my friend.

    Mawloc

    Trygon

    Trygon Prime.

I've magnetized and pinned various parts that allow me to swap the bits out to make all three variants.

I didn't bother painting the small dinky claws for the Mawloc, as they looked pretty pathetic on the model. I'd be using those for the Parasite of Mortex conversion I have planed. I also left out the Mawloc back spines, as I got lazy trying to figure away to make them removable yet secure enough for gaming purposes.

It will be a while before I consider buying another one, as it took me forever to paint all the back carapaces. I badly need a change of pace at the moment!

    As usual, C & C is welcome.

    Cheers
