    Scratchbuilt weapons

    A little something on the side I've started doing last night. I'm kind of having "modellers block" on my Machine Plague stuff so I decided to start on something else which might be easier, namely weapons. The first weapon I created is based on the heavy bolter model and is made from various bits I found around (part of a lighter, some insides of a radio and some spring thingie I found on the street).

    But yeah, here are the first pictures:

    Right side:

    Some details still need to be added such as a trigger. I've also started working on a smaller pistol/rifle (depends who holds it) kind of weapon.

    PS. You may have noticed that I haven't drilled any holes in the weapon (barrel and airholes), this is due to the fact that the part that is the barrel is actually made from solid metal and I don't have the technology available of drilling a hole through that. This means that once these things get cast (if they are good enough) they would need to have holes drilled into by whoever is going to use them.

    PSS. If I manage to improve my weapon making skills I might give it a shot to create some of the weapons CELS made for his article Imperial Firearms.

    My camera doesn't like me today... As you can see I've added a handle to the "heavy bolter" and also started on the heavy machinegun weapon (probably counts as a Heavy Stubber in 40k) and a shotgun like weapon. It's a shame that my camera is being annoying as in that you guys can't see the details in the weapons, especially the shotgun.

    As you can see I've been working on some smaller weapons , clockwise they are:
    -top left: some sort of automatic weapon, rifle sized.
    -top right: Acid gun, I guess it could also be used as a flamer if users wanted to.
    -bottom right: shotgun (relatively small one)
    -bottom left: pistol with longer barrel for extra accuracy(?)

    Nice work, I scratch build weapons also(mostly melee tho) using mostly sprue and cardboard, Ive not tried to make guns yet, althought I do need to build some lascannons for an old landraider Im converting to chaos.

    Try to get as many bits and bites as possible, just tear apart old electronic equipment, pens, lighters, etc etc etc. I've just almost finished building something that sort of represent an autocannon with nothing more than a few penparts and some insides from my old stereo...oh yeah and guitar strings.

    Update:

    Stuff I've got so far:

    Portable Autocannon:

    Rifle with scope:

    Improved shotgun:

    The autocannon is quite a chunky beast, it's 4.5cm (4 without handle) long, 1cm wide (0.7 without targeting device) and 2.2cm high (0.7 without handle and ammo).

    I think there will be a sprue of "normal infantry" which will include the 4 rifles, shotgun, flamer, pistol and perhaps another pistol/rifle/flamer (has to be 8 weapons, or perhaps even 10) and then there will be the "heavy" sprue which will have the stubber, bolter, autocannon and the gatling cannon (still need some ideas on how to build it). Perhaps a more high tech (plasma/laser/whatever) like weapon will be added to that sprue, not sure yet.

    If I can get my hands on a lot more teeeeny tiny bits I could perhaps made a separate pistols sprue...

    Re: Scratchbuilt weapons

    Small update:

    From left to right:
    Top: Rifle with auxiliary grenade launcher, rifle with scope, pistol, right handed heavy bolter (needs a better name);
    -One below: Rifle, rifle, pistol;
    -One more below: Portable autocannon, flamer, left handed heavy bolter;
    -Bottom: Rifle, shotgun, stubber.

    I've tried working on something like an assault cannon (gatling gun) but so far I've been failing at creating a pretty looking one!

    Re: Scratchbuilt weapons

    With the weapons sent to Troll Forged (I do hope they will arrive with minimal to no damage) and out of inspiration/right materials to finish my larger machine I started working on some new weapons:

    At least my flatmates' sloppiness when it comes to empty lighters has a use! ;D

    By the way, I started working on some new heavy weapons:

    Can anyone say gatling cannon?

    Twin linked flamer (Storm Flamer? Heavy Flamer?)

    I really like the acid gun - flamer thing! The rest are pretty cool. Are they going to be for sale?

    Re: Scratchbuilt weapons

    If Troll Forged (he is known here as Hive Trygon) deems them worthy enough they will be for sale yes. Yesterday I kind of tweaked the new rifles a bit, the part that touches the shoulder has been rounded and shortened so it actually fits. I've also started working on a new gun.

    Re: Scratchbuilt weapons

    I started working on a new weapon today. It will basically be a big drill which can either be mounted on the arms of larger units such as those armoured big guys Troll Forged wants to be making or Ogryn sized stuff. Normal infantry will be carrying this thing like a special/heavy weapon of a sorts. Drilling into enemy soldiers, fortifications, hulls and so on. A pistol like weapon is mounted on the bottom of this this to take care of enemies once the user has drilled through a hull of a ship filled with foes.

    I also put the second generation of weapons up, two sniper rifle like guns, two more chunky automatic weapons and a third...yeah I don't know what that is, just a rifle I guess!

    You have a nice little armory. Maybe you should put a figure in the shot for scale?
    If you get them duplicated you could make up an armory wall with a number of the weapons stood up in rows.
