Meet the spartans! - SM Log

Well I know I have a log of everything, well amost everything but I thought this army deserves it's own thread as I actually think it might be going somewhere. My daemons are coming along too but they can stay in my other log.

I like the spartan look and with the new inks I came up with a colour scheme for them. Here is the test mini.

It wasn't long after this guy that I decided to make a company champion.

I also made a commander however he has been demoted to sergeant as I want something more special for my commander.

And then he got a whole squad to lead.

I have a rhino 80% complete but I'm not overjoyed with it at the moment and I am also working on some AOBR marines (I think everyone owns these now). And I am also repainting an old dread so this army is already expanding faster than most I have owned.

I really like the conversions, but the colours come across as a little washed out. Something a bit more striking, like a deeper red perhaps?

Wow! Nice looking paint job. Smooth. Nice colour scheme too! A deeper red would really make it pop though.

I see the heavy weapon trooper has a "mohawk" are you going to do that for the entire army (which would be cool!) or only special troopers like heavy weopons, special weapons, sarge and hq?

Can't wait to see your rhino!

    Cheers

Funniest/coolest line I've read on Warseer! And a pretty good description of the plogs above.

The red is actually deeper than it appears on the pics. My camera has a terrible flash that has always made my pics look too light. You'll notice the white on the purity seals looks flat because of this when this isn't the case on the actual models. I think the test model pic was taken with a diff camera, hence the red appearing darker on him than the others.

@easternheritic the mohawks/plumes will be on all the heavy weapon marines and certain otehr models.

Well I have lots to paint so I thought in the meantime I would post some WIPs.

This guy is an old dread from my old khorne army that I kept. I have given him new arms and head. Not too happy with the assault cannon arm but my options for this are very limited. It might look better when it's done and painted. We shall see.

A heavy bolter marine. Needs his hair, base and red finishing off.

And lastly the AOBR commander. I have given him a power fist. I may just use him as a regular veteran sergeant.

Your having far too much fun with this particular project, however, it's awesome all the same.

Like them so far, though remove the mould lines from the Company Champion! Please! Esp. on the left arm and helmet.

Lovely stuff, but yeah the mold-lines are *really* showing in the pics - I guess one of the disadvantages of the ink ^_^.

Yeah the mold lines are a bit of a pain but I have removed them now. I am nearly done with the 2nd tactical squad and the rhino. I have also made this apothecary called Asclepius. He is based off the Greek God of Medicine, also called Asclepius.

If you are using those two fantastic models for mere sergeants, i cannot wait to see what u have install for your captain.

I am going to be using sicarius because he fits this theme very nicely. I am also planning on making a chapter master in terminator who I may magnatise but I'm not sure yet.

I've found a much better head for the apoth too! Also my scouts and new codex have arrived woo. More pics soon I hope.

@Slim Low Jack - The plumes are from Dire Avengers Heads.

@Warp Whisperer - The Snakes head is from the Lizardmen cold one riders boxed set.

The armour is simply a white undercoat with 3 layers of sepia ink.

A few pics. I can't stop building. Really need to paint more this weekend.

I thought it would be cool to have a libraian with a jump pack despite them being a bit pants in the new codex. This picture really didn't come out too well around his head though.

I may use this guy to represent Tellion.

I've also had a go at sculpting parts on the chapter masters legs. The pic isn't great but hopefully you can sort of see what I've been trying to do.

    More pics:

    The rhino. 99% completed now.

My scouts. I will eventually make this into a ten man squad.
