    Re: Bad Moon Rising

Have you gotten more ideas on designing the lifta-droppa?
That's still a problem. At the moment I'm searching for and collecting parts I could use. I think I'll take the upper part of the stompas chainsword-arm and scracthbuild some kind of super-magnet.

I LOVE Mega armoured Nobs. I'd even really like to make a deffwing army. Your Mans look amazing. Can we have group pic of all 4 when you've finished them?

    Re: Bad Moon Rising

Haven't finished the last MAN yet. Reason is, that I was putting together some more parts for the stompa and realised, that I had completely forgotten to build one of the most important parts for it: a bad moon trophy!!!

I'm not very used to build stuff out of plasticcard, but I think it looks ok:

Been following this from the beginning, but I don't think I've commented yet. Well, great work there, mate! I really like the way you paint yellow. It's just right.

    Cheers,

    Re: Bad Moon Rising

@synapse/mega nutz: Thanks for the feedback. Hopefully the lifta-dropa will be as easy to realize as the moon-totem...

@monsterzonk: Thx. It's always nice to get some comments from fellow ork-painters

As promised, here's the final MAN:

...and here's the groupshot, together with warboss Gorkov:

    Re: Bad Moon Rising

I love your painting. Very clear and bright. Maybe it's the lighting on the photos, but man, those models look awesome. I very much prefer this style to grimier but more detailed ones. So, for the skin, you just use DA Green and then Goblin, right? And for the armor, it's just Bad Moon Yellow and then Bad Moon Yellow mixed with Bleached Bone or something? I wish my Boyz would look as cartoonish as yours do... I really need to work on my painting skills.
On the correct use of apostrophes: Plurals, except for plural possessives, do not get apostrophes. The apostrophe in a plural possessive is after the final S. Possessives, except for the possessive its and possessive pronouns, do get apostrophes. Then vs. than: Then is used for sequences, for example: "I did X, then I did Y." Than is used for comparatives, for example: "X is better than Y."

thats a fine MAN-mob for sure.
You make the bad moons look good (not like a road-construction crew)

    Re: Bad Moon Rising

@Khornate Fireball: Actually the skin and everything takes some more steps to do it right - just DA green and goblin green wouldn't work. A good example to show the depth of the skin is the pic in post 196: http://warseer.com/forums/showpost.p...&postcount=196

    The skin takes 4 steps:

    1. paint the entire skin in orkhide shade
    2. highlight with knarloc green
    3. wash the whole skin with thraka green
    4. highlight with goblin green

    The armour:

    1. mix of yanden darksun and sunburst yellow (70/30) as a starting point
    2. Sunburst Yellow (two layers)
    3. highlight with sunburst yellow and bleached bone (50/50)
    4. highlight with bleached bone
    5. shades are done with gryphonne sepia

But yes, the whole painting goes on pretty fast and gives the cartoonish look. My first ork looked more "realistic", but I didn't like it's grim look.

Congrats on the whole mob. They look really nice. Even though there's not much visible skin on those models it sticks out, smooth painting and good scheme.
The warboss is excellent, bosspole, squig and all Love the skulls on the bosspole.

What do you mean by thraka green? You mean green ink?

Ah, seems I need to pay better attention to GW, then... You don't mind if I loot yer Ork skin paintin' scheme, do ya? Also, if you were making the armor red, which colors would you use? I'd probably go for Red Gore and then something and then Blood Red. Or something like that. Maybe an orangey color last.

    Re: Bad Moon Rising

I have no problem with that - nice to see this log helped to inspire someone

Also, if you were making the armor red, which colors would you use?
That's funny, 'cause my first test-ork was a red armoured one for a speed freaks army I started with mechrite red (one of GW's foundation colours) for the armour as it gives a good base to start from.

    Re: Bad Moon Rising

Love the Mega Armored nobs, they look great all together with your warboss.

I've been so inspired by your amazing looking mini's that yesterday I went down to my local GW store (and saw the stompa-wow!!!) and purchased a box of boys, 4 MANs and Mr Thraka. The boys are all assembled, the MANs are a pain to put together (I hate metal!!) and have only half assembled one. (so def no deffwing till FW do some or there's plastics appear). I will try and do a log and hope that they can be 1\10th the quality as yours.
