This log is the most exciting project I have seen this year. =D
Keep going this amazing work.
Can I suggest you to make a squad of 8 troopers (the sacred number of Khorne).
Cheers.

jesus that running guy with the chain weapon look like hes 45mm!
great great great work on the conversion - the pose is spectacular and the work positioning the parts as well as the GS is top-notch very good stuff
@ Industrial Propaganda - Thanks mate, that comment means alot! I was trying to remember the number for khorne, thanks for reminding me, 8 troopers will probably be what I settle on, maybe with a the specialists as additions to this.
@ Synapse - I'm not sure what you mean? Do you think he's too big?
@ Shadowphrakt - Ta mate, hopefully you'll see them in the flesh sometime in the not too distant.
Anyway, I decided to give sculpting chain a try. Its my first ever attempt so go easy but I'm quite pleased with it. I'll add severed hands as the next stage:
Also, I started making the body for a third trooper while I waited on things curing:
This one will be coming down from a pile of rubble/stepping off of something while firing from the hip. Think I might try making a helmet for this one.
Cheers,
Dante
that chain is incredible. This is just a staggering log CMD. Amazing work.
The chain is excellent. The miniature is for starters a great kit-bash and conversion. The pose is very ... uhm ... "fast" and natural ... and angry!
Apart from that all the stuff you've modeled yourself, belt, chain, torn knees, etc. and of course the chainaxe are top notch.
This log really is one of a kind, in regards to the way you're mixing kit-bash plastic cutting with green stuff work and the insane attention you give to every little detail, without it just being a sculpting log.

It'll be cool if the third trooper has a lasrifle with an underslung grenade launcher; or a barrel launching grenade launcher (like, adding a little extra tubing thingy onto the barrel, with indentations). Just a little bit of extra detail will make him look extra, brutal...

While I like MF3000's suggestion of a UGL, I think it would be better on a 4th model rather than on the latest one. Launcher guy can be kneeling down behind a wall, looking over his shoulder while loading a grenade.![]()
Go on, you know you want to.![]()
Looking good, your ability to give such a small figure so much life amazes me. The fabric movement is incredible and the fact that your fixing the eyes blows my mind hheheh
Great log, keep up the good work....Blood for the Blood God![]()
Sir, the level of GS sculpting skills you have is the envy of thousands.
The sculpting of the back on the axe murderer is superb and no other word than art begins to cover it.
Truely awe inspiring work, these are amongst the best loooking infantry in the GW hobby, bar none. Only if GW/FW would hire you to do a line for them, it would make the rest of us very happy (yet very poor) men.
What ever you do, don't stop.
The Blood Pact are looking fantastic CMDante. Keep up the great work.
Haarken
Yes great work chain looks amazing, your posing is spot on loving your work and look forward to your updates.
I have to say it is unfair not only is your converting and sculpting skills top but your painting skills are Amazing aswell.
I think some one may have sold there soul to be this good all round, call me stupid but did you find that brown was better for sculpting the chain than GS and if so why ?
And more pics please need something new to lear and drool over
Wow, lots of replies here! Thanks guys, as always it makes me want to keep doing more.
@ Arsenal - Thank you for the kind comments mate, wasn't sure I'd be up to the task at first as I'd never done it before so I was a bit nervous that I might spoil him.
@ Solun Decius - Cheers mate. I think the GW plastics are just full of amazing opportunities to make something a bit different that draws on all the characterful writing and imagery that GW and the Black Library produce. I'm not practiced enough at full sculpts anyway, but even then, there are just too many amazing bits and pieces out there already crying out to be used. My worktop is literally covered in plastic sprues from a myriad of kits (which I'm sure my girlfriend will angrily vouch!), largely cadian, empire, kroot, undead, BFG, catachan and chaos lord. I'm glad you like the movement in the mini as it is something I've tried hard to emphasise with the details.
@ MF3000 & Catferret - I had actually test posed him with a cadian grenade launcher but I really want to use one of the autoguns Catferret sent me so I figure he'll get one of those and another trooper can get the launcher. I like Cat's idea for the pose too so I'll see what I can come up with.
@ tcraigen - Thanks. To get the fabric movement I googled "soldiers running" to get some ideas to work from. As for the eyes, I'm sure I mentioned before but the flagellant heads are just so awesome but it bugged me they didn't have proper eyes as I find the eyes are a focal point of models, therefore I just had to add them. It wasn't too difficult either which was nice!
@ Khorgan - Yeah I suppose naturally groups have specialists in specific types of warcraft or equipment but I'm keen to not have them fall into the Hollywood movie type of specialist categories.
@ Coolhand - Indeed!
@ Tves - Wow, thanks for the exceptionally kind comments. I would love to sculpt for GW or FW but I don't think I'm nearly talented enough for that I'm afraid. Don't worry, I don't intend on stopping this one until I have a whole squad done at least.
@ Haarken - Cheers mate, will do!
@ lone dirty dog - Lol, thanks mate, your too kind. As for the putty type, I've heard it said that brown stuff is better for sharp edges and mechanical parts. I've not noticed any huge difference while sculpting between the too but it does file into a sharp edge much better than GS. For the chain I think either would have been ok, just used brown because I had mixed up too much when fixing the engine on the axehead.
Will post more pics when I've done some more work on the two in progress.
Thanks again to everyone who has commented and contributed to this log so far. All of your comments, questions and ideas are so welcome.
Cheers,
Dante
Whooooa, you are doing an amazing work with these models, It is sad that a so great work is also slowly, because if you want a whole army of those guys you need a lot of time.
Keep working!

Well not so much time if there were a set of Blood Pact heads to buy.
Dante take all the time you need on your first squad. I think once finished they will set a new upper standard for all Blood Pact works. I hope your log will set off a wave of Blood Pact fanatism and get more players into Renegates rather than CSM.
Nothing against CSM but there are not enough good Renegade armies out there and your work will surely inspire a lot of people.
I hope this work will get the adequate praise on the next GD in which you have to enter this squad.... you have to.
Aaaaaannnnd, subscribed.
Excellent work, Dante. Very imaginative...tasteful mix of bits and greenstuff.
I'm not familiar with the Blood Pact fluff, but I am really digging this thread. Can't wait to see more!
looking soo nice soooo nice, just finished only in death last week and im already reading it again. this second one is so dynamic his pose and is fantastic and your gs is looking quite wonderful. may i suggest that your next one have either a trench axe or some sort of improvised weapon as the blood pact do use a very wide assortment of random things for weapons.
