Thread: Rich's blood bowl teams

    Re: Rich's blood bowl teams

    Hey Rich,

some pics of my in-progress skaven:

Rat Ogre, blitzer and thrower (nearly finished the paint job on him)
(very happy with the way the rat ogre turned out - cut up a normal rat ogre for the leg (to stop him from crouching) and the forearms.)

    Linemen and one gutter runner

    gutter runners and thrower

I will be adding a face cage bar (like on the rat ogre) to all the guys with helmets.
I'm finishing them off this week - got a competition on the weekend - thanks again for the inspiration.

Your Norse team is off to an excellent start. As always great use of bits and very dynamic posing!

Love your Queek conversion, I would've never thought of using that model like that, but it really works!
I've been looking at the new skaven plastics myself with BB in mind.
Blitzers and Linemen are fine, as you say it's gutter runners that would be a problem. The way I've looked at would be to use the clanrats who are partially robed, sculpt more robes/ flowing cloaks and cut their legs about to make it look like they're running.

Hope you don't mind, I had a thought on those bases on your Orcs too. Could you use 40k bike bases? They might fit on a BB pitch square a bit better.

Can't wait to see more progress!

@ rich: just to say i'm finishing up converting a dark elf team that has heavily borrowed inspiration from yours, hopefully starting a league in a month or two, but i'd like to say thanks for being the final inspirational spur to jump into this great game. many thanks and may you never roll double skulls.......unless you need them for some unfathomable reason.....

Cool skaven squiglord. Is that the rat ogre from the new screaming bell?

@ rich : good work as usual, keep it up !

Yer it was but said he used the leg from a normal rat ogre to stop him crouching

looks great, not that I am a fan of rat ogres, could be worth having to make a conversion for headsplitter

    Re: Rich's blood bowl teams

Amijp - Thank you. It does need a bit of chopping to get them to fit, but it isn't too bad. I think those heads are pretty cool, so it's worth the effort in my book.

Gargobot - Thanks very much. I was a bit worried about the BOB's as they all use the same base figure, so I'm glad they look individual.

Dante - thanks mate, and cheers for advice. Maybe I could swap the black trousers for grey, and then have a stronger colour on the pads and cloth? Is a bit of a puzzle, but I guess at least I'm happy enough with the rest of it.

Squiglord - that is a lovely team, I'd be delighted to have one like that. Nice conversion on the rat ogre, and I really like the pose of the thrower. The face bars are a good touch too. Good luck for the tournament, let me know how you get on!

BoyMilla - thanks mate. I reckon squiglord's team show that the clanrats as gutter runners works pretty well! I hadn't thought of bike bases, might work, thanks for that. You have to let me know if you do a skaven team, that would look awesome with your painting skills.

Sainthale - thanks, that's brilliant to know. I hope you have a great time in your league, and the best of luck. Would love to see your team when you've got them done.

AzhagMorglum - Thanks, and I'll try to!

Coach - I quite like the ROgre on a skaven team as it's something a bit different, but you have got some good arguments against it on BBtactics. Hmm.

I wasn't quite sure whether to do this update as I'm at quite an early stage with all this, but then I figured that early feedback from you guys would probably be pretty useful. I'm really keen to go to the BBGT this year for the first time, and I'd like to make a really good team to go with. I'd like to take a chaos team, but my orc-based ones are probably a bit too large for tournament games.

I had knocked up a beastman out of a bloodletter (a pic is in this log somewhere) that I thought was ok, and put together a few more. The bloodletter bodies are so hunched though that they didn't look as dynamic as I wanted. So I took them apart and got the craft knife out:

The usual caveats about wip apply, so be nice please! The heads particularly are placeholders, I'm planning to use some bestigor heads, and will try to put some grilles on the helmets. And plenty more greenstuff work to go. But would love to know what you guys think so far. Do you reckon this could end up looking alright?

    cheers

Great dynamic poses, as always. I would definitely keep the head of the one holding the severed head as is. The facial expression is super awesome with this pose. Though the horns look a little off, imho. I guess they are too big at the base, the slender ones from the beastman holding the ball would look better.
Apart from that I think all of them look good, still I'm interested in how they'll look with bestigor heads.

Looks ace! The shoulderpads are from the Marauder Horsemen? They look really appropriate.

Gargobot - Thanks, I think I might take that suggestion up. That head does look a bit disaproving, which I like. Will be interesting to see how the bestigor heads look, not long till they arrive I hope.

    Lord Azoth - thanks mate.

Piousman - thanks. Not quite - they're from the chaos knight kit.

Indreth - cheers. That one is my favourite one at the mintue too. I've done a bit more on him:

I'm rather pleased with the progress on the hand holding the ball. And the ball itself, it's a bit tricky to try to get a smooth oval shape I've found.

and I've started to put some others together:

Sorry for the lack of painting updates recently, I'll try and get the modeling for these finished and some paint on them soon. Very grateful for feedback and input as always.

    cheers

Are all those beastmen legs sculpted from scratch? They look really good.
