    Re: Rich's blood bowl teams

    ...which is now.

Less paint in this set though I'm afraid. I've put together a human team, which looks like this at the minute:

    Blitzers (1&2):

    Blitzers (3&4):

    Thrower and catchers:

    Linemen:

Some of the proportions are a bit off, and some of the gs work isn't the smoothest, but I think they get the job done ok. I am not sure at the moment how I will paint them. I originally thought I'd just go for the reikland reavers blue, but I found it really boring once it was on the figure, so I am tempted now to push it a bit more. I'm thinking purple and cream maybe. Any thoughts though would be much appreciated.

I've also made a tiny bit of progress on a dark elf team, with this w.i.p witch elf:

As an aside, that was my first experience with finecast. I'm not massively impressed. It was much easier to cut, which is good, but there were some errors in the casting, and worst of all, because I didn't want the pole under her feet, and had the figure standing only on it's right leg, it started to collapse under it's own weight, so I've had to go overboard with the scenic base. Oh well, I reckon the BB pitches of Naggaroth are pretty brutal places anyway.

One of the other things is I've started to think of doing a Norse team for myself, and as I love to deal with cliches, I've gone for hairy vikings. Here is my prototype at a pretty early stage:

On reflection, it's not too easy to make much out in that picture with the foreshortening and all that but I hope you get the idea. 10 points for guessing what it is made out of...

thanks for looking, and I'll try and be back a bit sooner next time

    cheers
    rich

There's a real sense of ferocity to the Berserkers and those runners are full of movement, they almost look like they're in motion!

What models did you use for the Snow Troll and Ulfwereners? If they're conversions then they're very convincing of being production figures.

EDIT- Somehow missed that human team and the other stuff! The human team's looking good, lots of character and momentum in them.
I had no idea finecast models could buckle under their own weight, hmm. The more critique I hear the more I wonder if GW pushed them out a bit prematurely.
Your viking looks very comedic! I wouldn't worry about that as Blood Bowl has always had a hint of comedy to it.

I've been following thread for a long time and can't come up with a logical reason why I haven't posted here yet.

Impressive, very cool models. I like the dynamic poses, it looks their playing the game and not posing.

Rich mate, you've been inactive for a while, hope your still churning out these amazing teams!

Love your human team, fantastic conversions, I gotta ask man, how did you give them all BB boots? I just can't figure it out, have you sculpted them or cut them off the old human figures? Answers would be great man, then I'd have to have a go at cheekily 'borrowing' your ideas

    Cheers in advance man

bout the norse, he looks a bit odd in his proportions...with this huge arms/shoulders you should widen a bit the torso.
IMHO I´ll use the following bits:
    heads: marauder horsemen from WHFB
    torso/legs: marauder on foot
arms: marauder horsemen or on foot ones..

I was actually going to guess you used a dwarf

Like how this is going. Of the first Norse, the runners I by far my faves!

    Re: Rich's blood bowl teams

Harry - thanks mate, and sorry! I know, my photography is pretty shocking. I may be able to borrow a light box at some point, might make it a bit better...

Shadow - thanks, it's all trial and error really - just cut the bits up and mush them together till they look like they fit! I've just had a look at your pitch, outstanding work man.

Astraeos - thanks, the runners and beserkers I did, but the ulfs and troll are out of the box - Crocodile Games Wendingo models. Luckily, I like the idea of comedy norse too!

Devilish - thanks very much for posting

Amijp - Nah, I cheated, got the boots from the box set models. The humans are a bit of a mix between the old box set guys, the newer plastic greatswords, and quite old plastic halbardier - steal away!

    Grain Weevil - thanks

Lord Azoth - You are right, I had a bit of an uncomfortable fit for bits. I love what you've done with the chaos warriors and marauders in your log with the bits you've listed, so the tip is much appreciate, but I've had another go with some other parts.

Piousman - Winner! There is certainly dwarf in there.

It has been a while again - I have just started a primary teacher training course, so I am a bit pushed for time at the minute! I have still been fiddling about with various bits, it's just the photography and posting I keep missing. Anyway, apologies for absence and on to photos...

I looked at my norse guy again, and I wasn't happy - the proportions were just a bit off, and it was an uncomfortable pose. So I started again, and got something that looked like this:

which I was much happier with. So I then put some paint on:

It still needs a bit of detailing, as I need to do a number and some sort of team symbol. I'd also like to do some tattoos, but I'm a bit scared of messing up the skin! I also started a runner:

Long way to go with it, but pretty happy at this stage.

I've also done a bit of painting on the humans, and started doing a mutation heavy nurgle team - will try and get some pictures of them too. Will try to do that sooner than next month! Any comments would be wonderful as always!

    Cheers
    rich

Wow, if those muscles and fierce body language don't scare you then those hot pants certainly will!
Great model despite the questionable fashion sense, he's a very characterful model and the Runner's off to a good start.

Hey rich, love your work here, have never seen anyone do such great BB conversions. Love your barbarian/Norse team, especially the fend pose on your first runner.
I wanted to inquire where you got the open hands from for these guys or did you shape from green stuff?
    Maximum kudos bro!

Awesome work on the Norse, both conversions and painting. Looking forward to when there will be an entire team.

... is converting and painting an Ogres blood bowl team at the moment. Next in line is a lo-fi themed Dark Elves team and then Norse.

    Re: Rich's blood bowl teams

    Happy New Year!

So, yes, I've not updated this for a little while. Sorry! But I have been doing some stuff. Mainly unpainted plastic, but isn't that always the way? As I've been having to work quite hard on the course I've not really had time to finish or photograph anything, hence this log falling into disrepair, but I'm hoping to have a bit more time coming up.

So, I thought it'd be kinda appropriate if I make the thread necro post about a necromantic team - I've actually painted a couple of these too! I've also done a good chunk of a nurgle team, and started some dark elves that are going ok, so pics of them to follow. I've also done a fair bit more on the norse, but couldn't find them when I took photos earlier, so I will try to do that later this week if anyone wants. So, on with pictures. Necro first:

    Zombie:

A flesh golem (I don't really like the frankenstein's monster vibe these normally have, so I thought I'd make mine as an extra big zombie - shows it's S4 and ties in ok thematically I think):

And a ghoul (not quite finished - needs a few details adding):

Out of focus group shot ahoy!

And then I've made most of the rest of the team. Needless to say I was very excited when I saw the plastic wolf kit, and whilst it is big, I don't think it is inconceivable as a ST3 piece. I hope:

I'm finding that these are actually relatively quick to paint for me, so I'm hoping to get through them fairly soon. Its the skin that takes the most time, I haven't got a proper method sorted out so tend to paint it a few different layers and then use random wash combinations till it looks dead enough!

And speaking of unhealthy, nurgle to follow...

    Great stuff, as always.
The Ghoul's pose is especially fantastic, as is the Zombie carrying around his own head.
