    Re: Rich's blood bowl teams

...I started this team before (think there is a plaguebearer based rotter in the log somewhere), but wasn't really loving them. So I shelved them for ages, and then chopped them about, and now I am a lot happier. The moral of this story is don't be afraid to cut your work apart and start again if you think you can do better! So:

    Rotters:

    Pestigors:

Warrior (I have only done one of these guys and I am a little stumped about the rest - should I use the BfSP troll as the base for another three, or will that be a bit uniform? Is there a better plan?):

And beast (very wip - think rolls of fat where there are holes at the minute. And LOTS more tentacles):

And just as a size comparison:

As I say, I'm fairly pleased with how these are going, but they need to be more bloodbowlised I think. I think they can all get shoulder pads similar to the warrior's one, but maybe differently sized, and then I'll have to think about extra pads. The loincloths I'm not too sure about. I'd rather they were wearing a kit of some sort, but because of the distended guts it doesn't really look right, and the loincloths do seem to fit quite well. I'm tempted to leave it as is, but any thoughts you might have would be welcome!

And then finally for now, I've started (continued?) the dark elves. I've now got four linemen ready to paint:

The plan is that the linemen will be static and quite upright, where the postionals will be a bit more dynamic, so that there are some different heights in the team for a bit of interest. When I finish the witch and assassin I'm doing I'll show you what I mean.

That's it for now then; I will honestly try to post again sooner than 6 months, as I will find those norse somewhere I'm sure. Thanks for sticking with me - any commments and suggestins very welcome.

    cheers

That undead team is great, I like the idea of big zombies rather than Frankenstein's monster type things. That werewolf is definitely my favourite of the bunch though, may I ask how you went about making it?
The Pestigors are very horrific looking, awesome!

Quick question if you don't mind ... what torso are you using on the beast? Looks like a giant maybe?

    Thanks

    Re: Rich's blood bowl teams

Red - very nice work you've done! Love the skaven particularly. I liked the idea of using human bits for the necromantic team, trying to give the feeling that maybe they were the favourite players of a necromancer back in the day, and he couldn't let them retire gracefully.

EmperorNorton-thanks very much, I was really pleased with the ghoul's pose, took ages to get both arms and the ball in the right place! I've stuck a couple more pictures of the werewolf below.

Astraeos - thanks, it's one of the space wolf wolves, the one sort of mid-run. I snipped all of the limbs off, tilted the body and slimmed it down a bit, and then added orc feet and arms from the bloodletters kit. Then it needed a bit of sculpting to cover joins and add some shorts!

SoulGlaive - yep, no problem, it's the body of one of the plastic river trolls. I've stuck a couple of crypt horror torsos underneath it for a bit more bulk, and I'll need to fill the gaps.

So, I've been enjoying doing the necromantic, and have got a bit further in painting them, with a zombie and golem mostly finished, and the werewolf getting there. So pics of them first:

And a little progress shot - half the team done now:

And then I've done a bit more on my dark elves. Only mostly built, so a long way to go but I've started the second witch elf and an assassin. Really happy with the assassin's movement. Anyway:

So that's it for now. I'm back to school this week so progress will slow, but hopefully I'll have something else to put up soonish. Any views welcome!

    cheers

The undead team is inspiring, if my games club decides to run a league soon I may have to have a go at kit bashing and converting a team.
Good to see those assassins are keeping up with your standards for dynamism!

Everything looks great, but I'm particularly impressed by your dark elf team (I think you know why).

They look proud, haughty and arrogant; perfect for druchii players. The assassin is incredibly dynamic and the witch elf looks like a maniac! Love the tall helmed decoration and extra spikes. My rule of thumb when creating druchii is that they should look like they would cut your fingers if you pick them up; yours certainly carry that menace.

    Re: Rich's blood bowl teams

Inspired Necro and Nurgle teams, and some pretty dynamic Dark Elves too. This log really makes me sad, everytime I check it out I want to play Blood Bowl again, and then I have to realize absolutely nobody in my gaming group is interested in BB. Well, I still hope your rad conversions will change their mind someday, but I guess only time will tell.
    So please keep it up!

    I don't know what happened.
One moment I was reading your plog, the next moment I ordered a bunch of gnoblars and made plans to build a goblin team.

I just hope that your work will infect my brother with the bloodbowl-bug too, so I will have someone to play against.
Thank you for the inspiration, subscribed,

    Re: Rich's blood bowl teams

    Astraeos - Definitely, get converting!

Lilloser - thanks very much, high praise indeed. I think you are right, dark elves seem to be all about sharp angles.

Red - feel free mate, show me when you do!

juicytomatos - thanks, the werewolf I was expecting to be a nightmare to do but it was actually quite straightforward, so I was doubly pleased about that.

Gargobot - will do, good luck getting them to change their minds. How can they resist BB?

Bildo - there are some kabalite parts, but less than I thought there would be. The legs are from the dark eldar warriors, torsos and helmets from dark elf cold one knights, and arms from dark elf warriors.

Owl - awesome, love it when that happens. Get a picture of your goblins up when you've done them, that sounds cool.

Couple more photos to show. I've painted the first wight on my Necro team, like the others he now just needs a number and a team logo:

And I've started to make some more of the positionals for the dark elf team. None are finished, but are on the way. Hopefully this will show what I mean about using these players to give a bit of movement to the team in front of the static linemen. So, its 3 blitzers:

    And 1 runner:

And here's a little group shot of them together:

So I reckon 1 more runner and 1 more blitzer and the team is done, although I'm thinking about doing one more lineman. Any suggestions for poses? I want the blitzer ideally to be hitting someone, but I'm not quite sure how. The runner might be flicking a pass out like a rugby scrum half if I can pull it off. Any ideas gratefully recieved!

    cheers

Those blitzes are Frikkin' awesome! The use of the Incubi heads is great, you don't want to mess with those Elves! THe Runner looks like he's in motion!

Awesome stuff, what you did! Awesome! But i have a question: how did you make the shoulder pads of your chaos warrior and the nurgle warrior? is that gs or some bitz? thanks for your answer.

And, pleeeaaase, more of that awesome work!

    Rich,

This is a great log, plus they all look even better in person. Would be great to see some painted pics of the Dark Elves!

    Re: Rich's blood bowl teams

Hello again, sorry for being away for quite so long. Would painted pictures of some dark elves make up for it?

Astraeos - thanks, I reckon quick players should look quick!

Swarley - thanks, and sorry for leaving you hanging for so long. If you are still interested, the shoulder pads are from plastic black orcs. Takes a bit of hollowing out but I think it looks nice and chunky when done.

    Axtklinge -thanks

Squiglord - Now! Sorry for the wait, hope it was worth it!

Andy - thanks mate. They will look even better on the table when we finally get a game in! Where are we going to see a log of stuff from you by the way?

Right, so Dark Elves. I've finally got 11 players painted and varnished, and I'm actually really happy with them, particularly the witch elves and the assassin. I've tried to paint them in a slightly updated version of the Darkside Cowboys yellow and blue, so no prizes for originality. I mean to go back at some point and add the fourth blitzer, another lineman, and some sideline figures but that will probably be in the future. So, in no particular order:

Oops, picture limit - a couple more to follow...

... last couple of the Cowboys:

And just because it's a team shot with pretty much the whole team in focus, here they all are again!

    What do you think?

At the moment I am working through yet another version of a Norse team, but this time I am pretty happy with how they are going. Pics to follow (hopefully!)
