A double post... Well about ten hours between.

The benefit of a little insomnia...these were both previously Vox Troopers, but now with the Casters removed and some packs from the Heavy Weapons sprue added they are two regular BPIs. So you have seen them before...one was once a Heavy Weapon loader in a past existence as his left arm once carried an Autocannon Mag or something similar (he has had a rough go)...the other garnered fame as the shouting guardsmen last year.

Also got quite a bit done on four of the other troopers, hope to have them complete later today after work.

    The long painting war continues...

Mate, if the war is taking this long, maybe you should Hiroshima it by employing Jacka style paint jobs?

Naw, seriously though, they're looking good. The last two weeks I can't even paint anything, hands won't steady even with bracing.

Re: Captain Brown's 8th Necromunda Imperial Guard 'The Spiders' 500+ Photos to Date

    Thanks Guys,

Well I did get the next batch done.

So seven of the squad is complete (counting that Sergeant I painted and was displayed with the four Flamer Troopers)...which made me realize that I really needed one more Grenade Launcher Trooper...so another visit to the bits box (really scraping the bottom of the barrel now, found an older model that I broke apart to get the bits).

While I was doing that work I pulled out the three Cadian Snipers...which have appeared in this log at least three times previously...always with different heads...and always not really fitting in with the army. While I prefer my Ratskin Renegades to serve as Ratlings I decided I wanted an option to have a few snipers, perhaps in Command Squads or even Veterans.

I gave them some of my home made forage caps (two from Cadian Sergeant's Heads and one from a Catachan Head).

Now since these Snipers are going to be part of larger squads I will not bother with face paint or special camo as they are part of a larger group.

Comments are always welcome, as when you read through my log you can see that many of those ideas members suggest are incorporated.

    The long painting war continues...

Pretty quiet in the plogs this week. I have another update, one more regular Trooper and a Vox Trooper:

I feel like I am multi-posting...but then this is the Painting Logs.

Another update finished that last Grenade Launcher made from bits:

So with that Trooper I complete the ninth squad (or twelfth if I utilize the heavy weapons) is done...and that is going to be it for troops...other than the last Veteran Squad I am still working on.

Re: Captain Brown's 8th Necromunda Imperial Guard 'The Spiders' 500+ Photos to Date

    Thanks guys,

No there will not be another Guard army after these. I have painted a pair of Rogue Trader armies, three metal Cadian armies, a metal and a plastic Catachan army, a plastic Stormtrooper army before the three you mentioned (and I am still trying to sell the last of the metal Cadians). It will be the end of an era I guess, but I have started to do larger historical projects and have a few on the back burner. But do not worry, I still have several tanks and a Vendetta still to paint.

Another update, this one mostly some tinkering around and some progress.

First I took an old Commissar Tank Commander and coupled him with some standing legs to make my own Master of Ordinance or Imperial Naval Advisor. This is just a WIP shot to show the merging of the two figures.

I do need to eliminate the Commissar coloured cap and change the Black uniform.

Then I found these Mechwarrior decals from Fighting Pirannha Graphics...perfect for Necromundian Spiders...so I might be adding some to my Veterans and senior folks...maybe even vehicles.

And finally I finished up my first Cadian Sniper, again noting that since he will be in a squad I did not do much funky camo or anything to make him stand out.

And again you fail not in giving us a great update!
Great use of the old commissar tank comander as Naval Advisor!
Really like your "Spiders". It is great to see this regiment come to life, as you have given it much character of it's own.

Another update, more Veterans...but what else is new.

So one Plasma Gun left to paint...and my Troop Choices are all done...or until I figure out exactly how I am going to use the Spider decals

Mate, you're going to learn that any army is never really done, but that goes double for a Guard Army. Until you've got enough tanks to fill out all your options, Hydras, etc, you're just not done.

As to the spider decals, I'd ditch the skull decals on some of them and have a go with the Widowmaker decals. At least, I think they were Widowmaker, maybe they were Natasha's Black Widows, and I'm too lazy to scroll up to check!

I think I might look at using the small ones on the lower arm as that is where some of them were placed in the original WD army list.

Soon, very soon...but first the last of the Plasma Gunners.

Here is one...the army is now so large that my army shots have to be taken from a distance (only fully painted models included).

    Thank Warhound666 and Colonel Jacka

Next up...I should finish my advisors and the last couple of snipers...but I also have one Hellhound, one Griffon, six Griffon crew, one Leman Russ and the one Vendetta still to do.
