Superb Fists lad, seems like the IF group is growing on a daily base. But yeah, we gotta stand together.

Unfortunatly, I guess so. Just a shame that, besides Leisander, there are just NO fists in the codex what so ever.

I started them because they have a hi head turning factor when people walk by on a tournament. Yeah, thats right, I did it to fianlly get noticed :P

    Re: Engel's Imperial Fists Blog

Alright guys - a trip to the UK has meant this WILL be updated. School is ending soon and I'm just administering exams for the next week, so hopefully there's some more time available! I'll hopefully be having some games against some names you'll recognize, so I need this to be, in the words of Peter Griffin "*******' sweet."

The goal: June 17. Finished, decals applied and sealed.

    What's done:

    HQ

    • Lexandro D'Arquebus (Counts-as Pedro Kantor)
    • Command Squad (5 strong)
    • Chief Librarian Grussman

    ELITES

    • Assault Terminator Squad 1 (5 strong)

    TROOPS

    • Tactical Squad 1 (10 strong)
    • Tactical Squad 2 (10 strong)

    FAST ATTACK

    • Assault Squad 1 (5 strong)

And that's pretty paltry. The Land Raider should be done by Friday. Hopefully. (If you have any suggestions for Squad/Sergeant names, let me know!)

Looking at what needs to be done, it's a tad daunting. Hopefully Snake Pliskin and I get some painting time together, that man can CRANK THEM OUT (but never freaking posts pics! Badger him via PM!)

    What needs to be completed:

    HQ

    • Chapter Master Vladimir Pugh
    • Banner for banner bearer (designs please!)

    ELITES

    • Techmarine Trevelyan with servitors (5 strong)
    • Terminator Squad 1 (5 strong)
    • Sternguard Squad (10 strong)

    TROOPS

    • Tactical Squad 3 (10 strong)
    • Tactical Squad 4 (10 strong)
    • Scout Squad (10 strong)
    • Drop Pod

    FAST ATTACK

    • Vanguard Squad (10 strong)

    HEAVY SUPPORT

    • Land Raider "His Left Fist"
    • Land Raider "His Right Fist"
    • Whirlwind "His Wrath"
    • Vindicator "His Vengeance"

    I CAN DO THIS.

sounds like you've got your work cut out for you there mate, i'm trying to set a deadline on my imperial fists at the moment as well, as for the banner I was going to use the design out of the marine codex in the little box with the imperial fist background.

    Re: Engel's Imperial Fists Blog

Alright I've finally drybrushed the Land Raider up to the level I'm happy - I had to buy a fantastic brush and clip it down to about 1/4" and just abuse the hell out of it to get it where I wanted.

Anyway - I'm happy. I did all the boltgun metal bits (still working on the top vents) and the corner inking (which is a little off for my tastes, but I'm satisfied). I need to purchase a new pen for some of the details, but it'll get done.

The revised goal, due to some "extra-curriculars" is Saturday night.

I think it fits perfectly with my completed minis thusfar.

    Charrrrrrge!

There's just something about big yellow tanks that I love. Can't wait to see it finished.

The Land Raider is being a pain to paint and I've started to rock the Sternguard.

These were sort of a giant pain to paint. Ever. I recently bought some new brushes, a new water cup (went from ceramic to plastic) and threw out my old rag.

Either the colour I was achieving with ease was a fluke of all these parts, or I got a bad pot of Golden Yellow. The sergeant was almost green for a while but I've mostly salvaged him. I'm not THRILLED with how he turned out, but I'm not on a deadline and he's higher than table top quality (but IMHO, so are my armies. They won't win painting competitions, but they stand up to closer-than-2-feet-away scrutiny.)

Anyway, I finally got the yellow matching the test Sternguard I painted with the first Tactical squad.

    Hurrah.

I'm actually pleased with the general cohesiveness and the decals too. Microsol is the best. Thing. Ever.

EDIT: Looking at the pics, I need to write a script for the image editing... Bleh.

    Also, it's my birthday!

I've always found that if the white basecoat underneath the yellow isn't absolutly perect then the Golden yellow has a tendancy to come out a horrible green tone, only fix I ever found was to redo the white.

Happy birthday, hope it was a good one.

That list is insane. I think you can manage it though. Lets knock some out this weekend.

How about this week in general? It took me two days to finish those two sternguard, I need a speed freak to push me.

When are you off in the evenings?

Great work on the sternguard mate, and the land raider looks great too, must paint my own (turns round and picks up the biggest brush possible).

Haha - I wish it was amazing. Over the next month or so it grow by leaps and bounds.

The heavy weapon Sternguard. Heavy flamer (actually an assault weapon! Woo!)

The first five. Going to pick up some more spray paint tomorrow and do the first five Vanguard, then 5 in a tac-squad, 5 in another. I'll throw in the Terminators, some vehicles and a Techmarine in there somewhere.

Reducing it to 5-per-squad at a time really helps, it doesn't seem so daunting sitting on my painting tray!

    The smooth-as-a-baby's-bottom decals.

Very nice work on the last sternguard mate, where did you get the heavy flamer from?

And lo, did a break from the yellow begin already...

I like him so far, but I have absolutely no idea what colour I should do his harness. Suggestions?

In fairness, I sprayed the first five Vanguard today and they look good. FYI - Tamiya sprays for polycarbonates go on much smoother to metal than plastic. That said, I've finally gotten back in the swing of spraying evenly, so hopefully the mess with the Sternguard won't be repeated.
