Thread: Specialist Games web site

    Specialist Games web site

As you may have noticed, the Games Workshop Specialist Games site is currently unavailable. This is due to the initial stages of moving the data to a new server. When we have an update on this process, we will let you know. We estimate that this will take approximately one week to complete. In the meantime, thanks for your patience.

does this mean there will be changes to the sites?
Like most of us, I became such a fan of the hobby that I was no longer able to derive any enjoyment from it at all. All thats left for me now is to troll internet forums and complain about EVERYTHING and say how much better things used to be...you know, when we complained about that too.

Current discussion only covers the latest SG forums. As far as I know, the SG site is now offline and some resources have been moved to the main GW site. I do not think that the SG site will return and I am not aware of any scheduled changes to the main GW site (this does not mean that there will not be any further changes, but that I dont work for GW or have any information).

I will post the new link here when it is ready. Any suggestions of other places to broadcast this would be great.

    Thanks.

I'd suggest posting this info in the Other Games section of www.warhammer.co.uk, as there are a large number of SG players there. Also, try www.Librarium-Online.com.

Not sure if this is the place to ask but I am going to anyway.
Does anyone know where I can get the PDF for the rogue psykers... Possibly called Lectures of the wych?

We started a campaign and I based my character on a rogue psyker and now the PDF has gone and I dont have all the rules for him.

Any help would be good ta...

    Re: Specialist Games web site

*sigh* I am afraid not yet. We have had a significant data incompatibility issue and I am working with GW to get this resolved. It is very frustrating and I am very sorry for the real delay - I had wanted all of this sorted out as quickly as possible. I will post in this thread when there has been progress.

    Thanks for your patience.

    Re: Specialist Games web site

The old SG website has been down since November now and although the link to the new site is there, the forum is still dead. I know there has been huge problems with converting the old forum data into the new forum - but after three months, wouldn't it just be an idea to bite the bullet, acknowledge the old data isn't transferable and just create a fresh one for people to sign up to?

If the new official home of the Specialist Games forum is going to be on the Tactical Wargames Network (something that would be cool as all the old MODs would still be there and GW would have a direct input), having too long a delay before people can use it will mean they'll just go elsewhere permanently.

You certainly have a point. Would you prefer a new, dedicated SG forum, or new boards added to the current Tactical Command forum that currently has EA and BFG areas?

I think the old board members would feel more at home if the structure was similar to the old forum so a dedicated SG area would be very nice.

Any updates regarding the lack of content? Many articles and documents were lost in the move, and people are having trouble getting them (IP issues largely preventing fan distro).

It would be really great if all of the articles can get back up on the website. That or GW allowing people to distro the articles they have downloaded.

If you send me a list of the relevant articles, I will put a longer list together and approach GW with it to see what they say.

    Re: Specialist Games web site

I ended up getting my hands on some of the articles I was looking for.

I can, however, put together a list of some of the essential articles (IMO) that GW is missing. Ultimately, all of the articles for all of the games (not just Necromunda) would be good to see again.

I'll necromance this just to point out that there is no more specialists games section in the GW's new page.
