Why oh why did GW release so many cool Ork minis? It forced me to get out my long forgotten Ork minis and sort them into two piles.
1) For repainting
2) For converting
Using the free Nob from White Dwarf as a test mini, I decided to follow my true dream of a Speed Freek army, and what better way of doing so than with the original speed freeks, the Evil Sunz?
So this is the test mini in all his glory:
As you can see, I haven't gone for the insane Red featured in the Codex, keeping it a little darker and much less prolific (you can't see it but his shirt is actually red).
As I scrimped and saved for the AoBR box, I started repainting a Mob of Shoota Boyz and an old metal Nob, failing to realise that Nobs in Boyz Mobs can't take TL Shootaz. No matter, I will eventually replace him with another AoBR Nob and shift this one to a Nobz Mob.
After getting the AoBR box, I used a Deffkopta as incentive to finish the Shoota Boyz mob. The Deffkopta also worked well for establishing my colour scheme for vehicles (of which I will need a few).
Then it was back to the grind, pumping out another 9 AoBR Slugga Boyz to accompany the test Nob.
Now that they are done, I am rewarding myself by converting an old Buggy to have newer Boyz (from the "for converting" pile). I also plan on affixing more plates and stuff to beef it up a wee bit and little jagged bits like are on the Deffkopta to tie that design in.
I'll post pics of that as it progresses.
If anyone's got any ideas on how best to update the vehicle crew, I'm all ears.
