    Re: Chirons p-log of miscellany

Wow, its been a year since the last update... Can only apologise and say that starting a new job means that an already slow painting rate is hampered by odd shift patterns and galivanting/procrastinating around London

Anyway, the sister unit of Halberds is done.

I've 2 Chimeras to work on and then 40 Pikemen to paint up so I'll try and update before end of the year on those.

Thanks, lovely models so want to do them some justice

    Test scheme for the Pikes

Green is going to be GW Foundation Green with a wash of thined down Vallejo Dark Green

1 is Vallejo Bone White, highlighted up to Dead White and then washed with Devlan Mud
2 is Vallejo Bone White, wash of Devlan Mud and then highlighted up to Dead White.

I think I'm going to go with 2

First batch of Pikemen are up, bit of an enforced break due to Christmas and some tinkering with Necromunda (pics to follow, you'll love it)

You can also spot that I've tried doing a better BSB than my other one, banner needs a bit more umph I think but not great at freehand so I'll most likely come back to it.

    Re: Chirons p-log of miscellany

Last couple of weeks I've been spending much of my hobby time tinkering with my Necromunda/Ash Wastes stuff, still waiting for the actual Gang Members to turn up (Maelstrom Games lost it in the post, bugger) but I've started on the vehicles at least.

The insane product of 2 Tamiya kits, chopped together to make the base/living quarters of the crawler.

Still do to, add some mesh on here, some fence posts around the top deck, exhaust ports for the engine block (which is going to be a part of the front tank plasticarded up a bit) and the corrugated roof of the Gun Port/Drivers section

After browsing some Necromunda logs I also felt the urge to try making a trailer for this thing. Used the armoured sides that came with one of the tanks and a heap of Plasticard.

And lastly my order of Renegade Games bikes turned up

Look lovely, really detailed and should do nicely. Trouble is they are really really brittle which may not be good as I'm horrific at treating models right, they also have a lot of flash on them to hack off.

Progress on the rig, still looking for corrugated plasticard to make a roof for the cab and the entry into the rear of the tank. Think I'll add some pintel guns to the fence at the back as well. Needs a couple more bits of Imperial iconography as well.

And the start of the gang, will be a slow job building these guys, waiting for a replacement order from Maelstrom (Empire militia, various heads, some malifaux guns). I'm also still not sold on the Chainsword/Pistol guy in the front, he was going to be Journeyman but might be to small compared to the rest of the gang (could always call him Napoleon)

Detail of the Heavy Bolter, chopped up Missile Launcher and HB from the Guard weapons sprue.

I really like your Valhallan conversions. Do you think you could make a tutorial on how you made them?

I was thinking of the ones with the West Wind heads, but any conversion will do. I'm interested because I'm starting a Valhallan army myself, you see.

    Re: Chirons p-log of miscellany

Ah ok, afraid not got any in progress shots the West Wind guys are purely just bog standard Cadians with no shoulder pads and green stuff packs. I've some more WW heads in the post though for use in my Ash Wastes gang so may wind up doing some more.

Is removing the shoulder pads as simple as it sounds, or is their more to it? I also enjoy your after action reports and would love to read more of them.

    Re: Chirons p-log of miscellany

Its a litte tricky to get rid of em, you need to clip them off and put some wire in to the arms and the shoulders to give the green stuff something to grip to then you need to try and get it all lined up properly. Also need to make sure the weapon arms line up with the hands if they are seperate.

Interesting, I'll have to try that.

    Re: Chirons p-log of miscellany

My order from Maelstrom turned up! And I found an exhaust for the Rig.

Worked on the Heavies - Plasma gun and Heavy Bolter

    Outriders

    Rig - various shots/details

Hmm, the corrugated plasticard looks a lot more ridged in real life, looks a bit flat in these shots....

I look forward to seeing them painted.

    Re: Chirons p-log of miscellany

Oh how the log suffers... been a long while since an update, I've just lost a certain spark when it comes to the hobby and cant even remember last game. Sold off much of my Empire collection bar the Perry models who still need painting.

I still enjoy conversions funnily enough but the game and painting are a bit... eh right now, sadly Turbomunda fell through and so Big Rig might have to be reduced to a scenery piece or sold off as well

Anyway, I present 5 Rough Riders, mostly finished, don't think there's much to add really apart from some basing then a spray and a paint.
