All the makings are freehand, been trying to push myself a bit. I found tho that a decent brush helps immensely with both freehand and with the highlighting, can get really sharp edge highlights.
I recently picked up WN series 7 and I think it's really helped to push my painting up a notch.

Loving your style, the Human BB team in particular are stunning - always impressed when people manage to get that really crisp white to work out.

BTW how did you do the power sword on the Sergeant?

The power sword is far from finished, I was trying to copy one from codex SM, a salamander captain had a cool purple PS.
I worked it up from a white undercoat, with enchanted and regal blue, fading to black.
It needs a lot of work still. I'll post more pics when I've done some more on him.


Oh, and my Goblin team sold! Got £212 for them! I was a bit gobsmacked!
Wanna do more BB stuff now!

Sorry no pics, not done much painting. Been cleaning/assembling stuff. Should really knuckle down to some painting tho!

Well, trying to keep the momentum going, so here's a small update.

WIP of Gotrek,


Not been able to get motivated with this one, but trying to just get on with it.
Need to start highlighting now.

Been workin on some Black Reach Nobs as well,



The one on the left is further along, nearly finished actually, just some of the small details to do, chips and freehand stuff etc.
Trying to get these done relatively quickly (I paint slow, but find orks a bit quicker) and stick em on ebay. Can't wait till my collection is a much more manageable size!

still think you should put the Black Consuls stuff over on B+C, think get more input on them (no offence to all at warseer intended!)

Yeah, will sell Felix and Gotrek together. S'pose I'll have to finish Gotrek

I will put the marines up on B&C, but I'll probably wait until some of my other stuff is finished so I can focus more on them and do regular updates!

@sea.man, I think this version of F&G were internet/direct only (could be wrong!), they were released around the same time as 5th ed WH (think it was 5th, the one with empire/orcs in the box). I like the models you have tho, got a more classic feel!

Ork skin looks better IRL, again bad photos!
I've ordered some daylight bulbs so hopefully my pics will improve.

Well, update time again!

My new bulbs came, so hopefully better pics! Still need to sort out decent lamps to put them in and maybe a light box or reflectors of some kind, but the shots I've taken so far are already much better,
anyway see what you think!

The one on the left is finished, I'm gonna varnish him so I'm not tempted to fuss with it anymore. The one on the right is nearly there too!

The rest are not far behind, skins about done, just some detail work etc



Hopefully have em done by next weekend, then I'll start some boyz!

Thanks guys! I'm glad you like the skin! I generally paint my orks as Goffs, so I like the skin to stand out and leave almost everything else black or brown.

I'm pretty pleased with how they're looking, hopefully won't take long to finish now that the skin's done!

Thanks man, no problem.
Base: orkhide shade,
1st highlight: knarloc green,
2nd highlight: goblin green,
3rd highlight: goblin green+golden yellow (about 75%, 25%),
4th highlight: goblin green+bleached bone (about 50, 50)

I apply the highlights leaving last colour showing in recesses. With highlight 3 and 4 I apply it in lines along the muscle. If I overdo it with the highlights I use thraka green wash to tone it down.
Normally, when painting boyz I miss off highlight 3 for speed.

The Nobs are finished! Yay, right on schedule! Just got to varnish them now.

Start on the boyz then, hopefully 2-3 weeks should see them done.
