Hushrong - the Su Jian tended to either dominate games or be blown to lots of very small bits by Panzerfaust shots. There's a few descriptions of what happened to it in the two demo reports.

Pingomannen - http://www.infinitythegame.com/forum...d.php?tid=2620 has some tactics, http://wargamingtrader.com/infinity/intro1 (by me) has overviews of all the main factions.

It's pretty cool, you get lots of things you don't get with the vanilla list & JSA. You need to approach it as a security team instead of a full on assault force. The Celestial Guard is a great light infantry unit, almost bordering on medium infantry.

The big thing is that just like playing the vanilla list, you can only take around 1 to 2 heavy infantry in your lists because they are so expensive (but good.)

Here's the points for the starter box, I think that will show better what I mean.

    IMPERIAL SERVICE
    ────────────────────────────────────────────────── ────────────────────

    Grupo 1 (Reg: 6/Irr: 0):

HSIEN Lieutenant MULTI Rifle / Pistol, AP CCW (60 | 1)
IMPERIAL AGENT (Chain of Command, X Visor) Combi Rifle + E/Mitter / Pistol, Monofilament CCW (43)
CELESTIAL GUARD Boarding Shotgun / Pistol, Knife (13)
2x CELESTIAL GUARD Combi Rifle / Pistol, Knife (13)
WU MING Boarding Shotgun, Grenades / Pistol, CCW (36)

    178 Points | SWC: 0

    ARMY CODE: eNozNFI1VTNRM6wxUjMAkoZqhmDSAE6aqBmpGQIAnnEIOA==
    Army Infinity v.3.0. - http://www.devilteam.com

So that pretty good, most of the starters come in around the 130 point level. But if you wanted to take it up to the 200 point level and you want to try to push it up to the 10 mini max you would have to drop out one of the HI.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Yeah, i'm probably going with the Imperial Service. I like the slightly weird and esoteric armors of the Agent and the Hsien. And the Hsien seems to be really badass with all that armor and the MULTI Rifle. It's a shame that I can't use Aragotos in the Imperial Service, and not the O'Yoroi either, but you can't have everything can you

I'm thinking about adding a Celestial Guard with a Spitfire, to get some SWC in there. That should push the points up close to 200, is that a good idea, or should I consider something else?

Oh yeah, a four or five man link team sporting a spitfire is what it is all about lol!

You can also designate one of the combi-rifle guys as a hacker, 14 WIP & -3 BTS for a light infantry troop is great. I always take the CG hacker and/or the one with the rifle mounted smoke grenade launcher, great value support troops.

You can use the smoke launcher to set up your MSV2 Hsien for the kill.

The one from the Yu Jing starter set is useful for that, since he's waving his arm around. Stick a spare hacker transparency to his hand and job done.

    Re: The Official Infinity Thread

@IJW: Those are some seriously nice promo table pictures. Love the helicopter design and the advertisement globe. Also nice conversion on the Moderator. Pretty snazzy.

Well, I haven't reported in here for a while but I did get some Infinity gaming done recently.

First, a game versus Ariadna. For that game I used 4 AD troops for the first time and especially the adhesive launcher worked beautifully on those. The only problem is that the whole group lateron got into trouble in the form of a sneaky SAS guy. No hard feelings though because these are really pretty models. The rest of my army was basically killed by a link team led by William Wallace.

Next week's game was once again versus Aleph, 200pts against Achilles. This time I brought a bunch of remotes and at least towardsw the end of the game used them more offensively. Managed to take two wounds off Achilles.

After that I had a demo game with my brother. 75pts, he chose to play PanO, I played my Nomads. For simplicity's sake we all had basic troopers (I had a bunch of Alguacil, he got a bunch of Fusiliers) plus a "special guy" on each side. I brought a Sin-Eater Observant (Mk12), he brought a Kamau with HMG. Well, I set up real stupidly and lost. But at least he seemed to enjoy the system.

Last night we had planned to do a 300pts game. My Nomads against Aleph again. Last second a new guy showed up at the club so I had an introductionary game with him instead and we used the Nomads and Aleph starter boxes with a few changes (no Asura for Aleph but a Whatshisface Functionary Lt., Mobile Brigada got a boarding shotgun instead of Mk12). I think I got a better grasp on how to use Zeros with AP mines now. Oh, and I won. See, all it takes is complete newbie opponents who learn the game during play and I get a 50% win ratio. Another thing I learned from the last two games: Never underestimate the glorious Combi-rifle.

Anyhow, all really enjoyable games. Still pretty scared of Aleph though but heavy flamers work well and I may have to give the guided missle attacks another go. Maybe do some more area control things with mines and such instead of AD cowboy-style actions.

The week after I had another game

I'm a bit of gamer but mostly just collect and paint models that I like the look of. I have the starter set for PanO and was wondering if there are any alternate paint schemes for PanO that people have used? Are there any other schemes shown in either of the rulebooks?

there are. It's called imagination, and you should use it in this case.

Pretty much what Pokpoko said. To my knowledge there are no pictures of alternative colour schemes and you can go for whatever you like. I went for a blue-white-black-pink colour scheme on my Nomads and was surprised to see that people found it unconventional. Just paint them any way you like. Infinity fluff (unless I missed something) never mentions anything on colour schemes.

    Re: The Official Infinity Thread

The closest it gets, other than the fact that the studio paint jobs are presumably canonical colour schemes, is some concept art of the Keisotsu Butai which says that the orange and green is the Yu Jing state army colours and white and black is the Japanese Army colours.

There used to be a couple of fan sites that great compilations and you could go through them by each specific army. Maybe that's something we need to pitch on the official site?

    Re: The Official Infinity Thread

Ok thanks all, was looking for inspiration rather than asking 'do I have to paint them this way'. After doing a search on the infinity forums and on google images it looks like most people use the studio scheme, which I'm not so fond of. I kinda like the black and red the studio auxiliaries are painted in, but I think I use too much black and red in painting in general, so I'll be playing around with some different schemes.

    Re: The Official Infinity Thread

Yeah, the problem with black and red is that it so very often looks so badass that one easily overdoes it.

If you're looking for inspiration, I suggest what you basically did already - google, coolminiornot.com, infinity forums. Especially the latter should be helpful.

@Lithian: Well, there's the "Other people's miniatures" thread or what it's called on the infinity forums which is a kind of compilation of various great paintjobs. That's about as close as it gets I suppose.

Oh dear. My father was watching a programme that was talking about military tactics and the importance of the high ground, but what went through my head was "partial cover bonus for being prone".

Funnily enough, I don't think they did, no.

Ugh, I need to get my other projects finished so I can allow myself to work on the big box of Haqqislam I've bought.

It’s funny you say that because the other day we were running some practice IJW-Yams games for an upcoming tournament, and the rambo players got upset when they mowed down the other team and ended up with zero points lol!

I've been meaing to tell you IJW that your yams card system is a blast.

Yeah, I printed them a few weeks ago, still have to actually cut them out and properly give them a try. They look really nice though (and I'm a fan of secret mission objectives).

What are your first impression of the missions system, Lithian? Any major pros and cons you experienced or do you have any suggestions for using these rules?

Fantastic! 'Play to the mission objectives, folks!'

I'd be interested in hearing any feedback as well, I'd like to get them to version 1.0 before the Spring Challenge tournament in a month's time.

EDIT - on the subject of ramboing in objective-based games, this evening we were trying out one of the tournament missions which involved grabbing some Civvies from the middle of the board and searching them for secret documents.

My Chimera and Pupniks went for a lightning raid by running up 20" (got to love MOV 6--4 and Climbing Plus), threw smoke over the disorientated Civvie, attempted to nanopulse the Civvie and failed, ran into the smoke and beat the Civvie up with the Chimera's bare hands before she ordered one of the Pupniks to carry the unconscious body back into the deployment zone where they searched it for the docs.

Next turn, she drops the docs off with one of the line infantry and the unconscious Civvie with one of the remotes and heads over the rooftops to munch her way through two Wulvers before eventually falling to a headshot from William Wallace. Great game.
