Thread: The Official Infinity Thread

I bought the pilot for homebrew missions. Imagine the Pilot enjoy some relaxation at the local military complex cafeteria when suddenly alarm bells go ringing, INTRUDER ALERT INTRUDER ALERT. Get the pilot to the TAG and wipe the floor with your opponent (figure out some list restrictions to make taking out the TAG unlikely)

That sounds like a pretty cool idea.

Since the official website is down again, I'll throw this up here:

    (click for a larger version)

A couple of conversions, since I got sick of waiting.

another quick conversion; can't have two identical models, after all!

Nice conversions! I like the Wu Ming, it looks like he is holding it away from himself a bit to check out the HMG and think "Yeah, that's right, I got one now.."

Nicho - there are a few in the Reports From the Front section of the Infinity forums but a lot of people are waiting for the book.

Andrew - I especially like the reverse-grip on the Guijia sword.

I dug out my WHFB Generals Companion a few months ago, with just a little modification you can almost pull off a direct port of the map based system. Otherwise I would say go with Mighty Empires 40k.

Question Re: The Official Infinity Thread

Ummm I really want to post this on the Infinity Forums but... They seem to be down for days now... Is the company still acitve?

    On with the question

Hello, I’m new to Infinity but a long time miniature gamer, most recently of Malifaux; but have played most GW games, Warmahordes, Confrontation…Looking for advice on how this games plays.
No one in my neck of the woods has it yet. Any help and break down of the factions (pros, con, special type faction abilities) would be greatly appreciated.

Are the starters needed or just a good idea? What is the size of the play area? Besides D20s anything else that is nice to have?
Especially like the look of Alpeh’s Posthumans, Achiles and Myrmidons; the Ariadna’s 2nd Irregular Cameronians, Calendonian Volunteers, S.A.S. and Highlander Caterans. Some of the Yu Jing models look nice like the Japanese Sectorial Army.

Is there a strategy site for Infinity like Pull my Finger (Malifaux) or Battle College (Warmachine)?
Do you need a commander or leader model? What are hackers, are they important, does every faction get them? What is the average size game? Anything else, or suggestion?

Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

They had to do a server migration due to the rapid influx of new members to the site.

I made a comment on facebook about the site going down more often than a cheap hooker and it got a laugh out of Interruptor, apparently.

No one in my neck of the woods has it yet. Any help and break down of the factions (pros, con, special type faction abilities) would be greatly appreciated.
I'll let others answer that - there's probably some in this thread.

Are the starters needed or just a good idea?
They're not necessary. The core faction starters have a miniature in them that you can't get elsewhere (for example, the Celestial Guard in the Yu Jing starter), but it's only an exclusive sculpt, not an exclusive troop type.

What is the size of the play area?
The two official scenarios are 5' x 4' (with the players deploying on the short sides). I usually play on a 6' x 4' board (again, playing doen the length of the board), but you can play on a 4' square board.

Besides D20s anything else that is nice to have?
Terrain. Lots of it. You'll especially need stuff that can totally obscure models, not just stuff which comes up to their knees. There's also a lot of status effects for which you'll probably want some counters. Counter sheets can be downloaded from the Infinity website.

Do you need a commander or leader model?
Your army will have a commander ("Lieutenant"). However, this is kept secret from your opponent, so there's no such thing as a specific Lieutenant miniature. If you want a Celestial Guard Lieutenant, you simply use a normal Celestial Guard miniature.

What are hackers, are they important, does every faction get them?
Hackers allow you to shut down TAGs, Remotes and power-armoured Heavy Infantry, intercept guided missiles and Airborne Deployment troops and generally engage in electronic warfare. Some scenarios may also require them to be present. The Ariadna faction - being a little lower-tech than the others - don't have any native hackers, but there are several Mercenary options*.

What is the average size game?
Around 200 points seems to be the average. Core faction starter sets come to about 120 points, while the Sectoral starter sets and the Combine Army and ALEPH starters come to about 180 points. I usually play 300 points or 400 if we feel like using plenty of TAGs or other expensive models.

    * Someone will no doubt pop up to point out that Mercenaries aren't allowed in tournaments. Quite true, although that's a special restriction, and outside specific circumstances, you can freely employ Mercenaries.

Hey, I just took some photos of the currently finished models of my Infinity "army" and thought you may want to have a look:

I really hope I get the remotes done soon so I can add them to the bunch.

    Sweet!!!!

So with the new unit icons coming out on the Infinity Facebook, is there any update/timeline on the two upcoming books that anybody has heard of?

    Re: The Official Infinity Thread

    Thanks.

I read nothing about the release schedule for upcoming books but I have to say that I'm VERY excited about seeing icons for Riot Grrls and Wildcats, the first having been a pretty fun movement and the imagination goes wild what those units could be, especially coming from Bakunin. The second I'm almost more excited about because I'm a huge fan of Tom- and Hellcats.

Beautiful work Sigur! I have to ask, do you live in a space-time vacuum because I am wondering how you have the time to paint so much high-quality minis!

I'm going to have to go and check out this new stuff. Nobody in my group is playing but it will not stop me from collecting.

I'm a very sad, lonely man who has nothing better to do with his time. Naw, this crew was painted over the course of nine months so almost a month per mini.

Anyhow, the Infinity forums seem to be more or less dead at the moment. Annoying.

I see. I think I want to paint my Yu Jing/JSA after I get some 40K done. Then I want to move on to Aleph (among other things).

I still check out the Infinity forums but I mostly look up terrain.
