@Amnar: Thanks very much.
@Hushrong: Should be a good time to do aleph then. I'm sure they'll get a slew of great new models along with the next books.
@AndrewGPaul: Nope, she's a Hasslefree mini. I painted her up for my review of the company and their product.
Yeah, I heard about a Greek Sectorial with the new release. I've been wanting to pick up the Myrmidons and the Sophotect for a small 100 something point list.
Is there a place online with rumors/info/news/pics of whats coming soon?
Not that I know of.
Is there an actual official or semi-official hint that ALEPH will be getting a "Greek" sectoral list, or is it just fan wishes taking on a life of their own? CB have been fairly tight-lipped as regards what'll be in the new book, although some of the choices in the pin badges poll have some spoilers.
Yesterday, in a quick glimpse of the Infinity forums being up, I read a post by who allegedly is the English editor of CB's publications with lots of references about greek stuff coming up and a ship so maybe it's Jason and the Argonauts themed? Odysseus more probably though. It's in the "new books?" thread or at least it's called something like this.
Ah, fair enough. I'll try to find that. I admit, that on reading the Human Sphere book, the "greek" influences seemed to be restricted to two characters and a unit type named after the Trojan War. Seems like a rather flimsy foundation for a Sectoral force, but you could have said the same about the Military Orders, I suppose.![]()
I just hope they don't add any more "super uber characters" to Aleph or the game as a whole.
Agreed. Achilles is super lame and is a total crutch.
So I want to say this thread is huge and that makes me feel a bit better about deciding to take the plunge into infinity. I just ordered the rulebook today so I'm going to wait till that gets here before buying any starters just to make sure I like the rules. But at the moment I have to say ther background and the minis for the Nomads are really grabbing my attention, also the minis for the CA are really grabbing my interest as well so maybe some pay days down the road I will get both starters.
But I'd like to ask are starter set games a good way to start for say a month or so to get a feel for the rules. I ask this because the battleboxes for Warmahordes really don't give you a feel for the entire game. Also are the Nomad and Combined starters good to pit against each other so I can maybe get my buddy involved for our saturday gaming days?

Firstly, the rules are available for free on the website. You don't get the background - which is the majority of the book - so it's still worth buying.
There's also a new Quick Start Rules document, which gives you sample forces so you can try the rules out with some proxies first. The QS rules aren't quite the same as the full rules (I think there's a few simplifications), but they'll teach you the basic mechanics of the game.
You can have perfectly good games using the contents of the starter boxes. Each starter usually gives you; three basic line infantry, an improved infantry (in the Nomads' case the Securitate with Sixth Sense), a specialist infantry (the Spektr, with Camouflage and mines) and a Heavy Infantry with a bigger gun (the Mobile Brigada with MULTI Rifle). There's a decent mix of abilities to be getting on with.
However, the Combined Army and ALEPH starters don't play nicely with the others. The other faction starters have about 120 points of models, give or take 5 points or so. the Combined Army and ALEPH boxes are somewhere around 180, due to those factions having generally more expensive troops. You can either leave something out of the Combined Army box, or pick up another Nomad miniature or two to add to that side.
The Sectoral starter boxes ("sub-factions" within the overall factions) might be a better bet to be equal in points to the Combined Army or ALEPH starters, but the consensus is that they're slightly less "new player-friendly" than the main faction starters.
Thanks AndrewGPaul, in regards to picking up another Nomad mini or two do you think that maybe a hacker and one of the zonds or sputniks that the nomads seem to have so many of would be a good boost? Also I know I'll get the answer in a few days when I get the rulebook but I might as well ask here. Does a zond/sputnik require a hacker to be used or can they operate on their own?
Good to know that the combined starter is a bit heavier duty then the others. I did download the rules but I like having a hard copy it just feels more natural lol. Thanks again for the replies.

I can't help you on tactics or model choice, I'm afraid - I don't play Nomads. "Dirty hacker tricks" is the Nomads thing, though, so it would probably work. Might be throwing too many special rules into the mix for new players, though.
To field a Remote (i.e a Zond or Sputnik), you need to also include a Hacker or TAG in your army.
Again thanks AndrewGPaul, it's sounding like hackers will be on the to buy list since I'm digging the Zonds and the Sputniks. Hopefully will have my rulebook come thursday so I will be able to decide if the starters are the way to go or if maybe just making two equal points lists will be better. Got to say really excited about getting into this game.

Two upcoming books?
The campaign/mission book is likely to be August at the latest as there will be Corvus Belli staff giving a presentation at Gencon.
This book will contain a Greek Sectorial for ALEPH, as confirmed by I think Bostria. There will also be some extra unit options (such as the Haris option for Odalisques) and some new units but not very many.
The next full expansion book will apparently contain more Sectorials for all factions and all existing units will be in one faction or another, sounds like an absolute minimum of a year away and I can see 2-3 years being more likely going by previous gaps between book releases.

You'll need to edit and see, like the rest of us. I'm still not quite sure what the theme of this Sectoral army will be, since all ALEPH troops are artificial personalities to some extent. A Sectoral force of all models with a name cribbed from Hellenic myth seems like an awfully flimsy gimmick. Hopefully there'll be a better in-universe justification.
