    Re: The Official Infinity Thread

I should probably post here, or something.

Has anyone got good pictures of their terrain? I assume most of you will have seen my never finished and (sadly) rarely updated thread on the infinity boards. There is a tourney coming up in Feb next year, which Devolutionary and I and some other are running two infinity demo tables. Now I have motivation to get stuff done, but am also always looking for inspiration.

Well...it seems that the Aragoto Senkenbutai (that's those awesome bikers to you non INF players) have won TGN's readers poll for best sci-fi models, and with a lead of nearly 200 votes! I think that's a very resounding "yes" on the question of "do CB make the best sci-fi models?"

Or perhaps a very resounding indication that Infinity players make up a big chunk of TGN's reader base

To be fair, while its nice to win, TGNs readship is a lot smaller than I was expecting, if we used the voting results an as indicator.

only registered users voted, to avoid last year's debacle,so it's not quite the same.

Gross misconduct when voting for models.

I'm not sure of the details, but I think some people were taking the piss when it came to voting on certain models. This time you could only have one vote per category as you had to be a signed user.

We just use the LGS terrain, it's more for 40K but it works, although what i really want for infinity is this-

    Re: The Official Infinity Thread

I've just bought that set, a bit disapointing when it arrives and looks like a ream of paper ! But I've seen the finished product so have high hopes. I have plans on mounting some buildings on same thickness bases to allow a modular placing of terrain in different games. There is a distinct lack of non 40K style buildings out there - especially ones you can play inside so it looks like I'll be doing my own. If I can get around to it I may even start an Infinity log in the terrain section to spread the good word.

    Re: The Official Infinity Thread

Speaking of Infinity terrain, we've been using cardboard buildings lately - but I'm really not a fan of the look or really the (lack) of durability of them. What do most people use to make buildings from? Back in 40k, everything is sort of bunker-like so you could get away with using foam for buildings for stupidly thick walls, but that doesn't work that well for Infinity.

Do people just use sheet plastic? Or something else?

EDIT: Another reason why I'm looking is because -- enough with the ruins already. We're not always playing in the CA incursion zone on Paradise. Not everything in Infinity is a crumbling ruin.

I know the feeling, JR minitures have some really nice infinity looking ones but they are all resin and get expensive really fast.

The forums are down again....I have threads to check! But, that's what this thread is for! So.....where do people think Morat's mouths are?

I'd love to have the room to store scenery in my flat. I love seeing a great Infinity table, futuristic buildings......that are intact and not ruins! I too have had enough of the 40K style ruined city. That's fine for 40K, but not Infinity!

I made my buildings out of foamcore, but they are pretty much blocky and very utility looking. I used strips of posterboard to seal the cut edges, so the foam isn't attacked while painting.

I haven't tried this yet, but it is possible to make curved walls by making several thin slices on the inside of the curve. I haven't made any new buildings since those I made for Origins 07 demos, but I may take the time and work on a couple new buildings exploring these techniques.

I've seen quite a few interesting stuctures in the Arcologies section (when the site's up), but having buildings greater than 3 levels could give sniper units a big advantage. My largest building has 4 levels with interiors.

Blaze: see that "crack" on the minis? usually the rest is beard, but the art shows pretty much clearly it's the upper and lower jaw.
