True, I think I remember Janzerker or Yasbir saying that it was a special assault Sectorial which happened to be mostly Greek-themed units as much as it being a Greek Sectorial.

I'd say go with the one you like the look of more. In my opinion the starter boxes are good deals and a good place to start. I can't help you with any lists or other pointers so a veteran will have to help you on that. The one cool thing I like about this game is that is doesn't matter what you bring but how you use it. If you see units you like there is a list builder on the site (bottom right of front page, under tools as "infinity army") so you can put them together for some ideas..
ok thanks
what about :
nisse sniper
aquila hmg
cutter
traumadoc
comando akal combirifle
comanda akal combirifle lieutenant
fusilier hacker
300 pts ! is that too much for starters?

That's what I assumed; after all, none of the ALEPH units are really Greek. They're hardly even particularly "Greek themed" other than the names.. So it's the more ... direct-action ... troops such as Myrmidons, rather than the more specialist or covert troops? That makes sense.
Which raises another question; what are the "greek" models? Achilles, Patroclus, Myrmidons ... what else? It won't be the first Sectoral list to be conjoured up from nearly nothing ( the Japanese Sectoral Army consisted of Keisotsu Butai and Ninjas in the original rulebook), but am I missing something?
I'm thinking your list has too much SWC (support weapon cost). I'll run the numbers later after I get home. Also having your lieutenant in AD (airborne deployment) you'll be in Loss of Lieutenant (bad!) at the start of the game. I think you have too much candy in the bag, starting with grunts and aiming for 150 to 200 points is the best way to learn the game, adding specialized units a bit at a time and learning their special rules a little at a time as well will keep you from getting overwhelmed.
Back to the two books, I was under the impression that the campaign book is running late, it should have already been out, with the "other book" coming out at the end of the year. The campaign book will only have the Aleph sectorial list and not any of the new units or unit rules, those will be in the "other book." If I'm wrong, oh well, rumors and grass fires and all that business.![]()

The basic faction starter is probably a better place to begin than the Sectoral starters like the Military Orders box.
That list does have too high a Special Weapon Cost; you're allowed 1 per 50 points, and you've got 7:

The Military Order starter is a great box. The Order Sergeants are pretty much the backbone of your army. For smaller games you can link up three knights, when they run out of panzerfaust, break the link and let them go run amok, then link up your Order Sergeants team of four or five, preferably with a Spitfire, and let them come in for the mop-up. At least that's what one of my regular opponents does most of the time lol!
Military Orders are a lot like running space marines, very straight forward and very shooty, with a little close combat thrown in for fun if the situation arises.
My buddy has used a list like this on me several times.

You can go with a generic scheme on the knights and mess around with the orders until you find the one you like the best!![]()

You can also include up to three different Military Orders in a single army; I had thought of doig such an army and painting them up as Knights Templar who were previously sheltering in other Orders.
So, my LGS started stocking Infinity...this is the first time I've seen it in a physical store. The boxes are pretty normal (a little flimsy, imo), and the lack of shrink-wrap bothers me, but it seems like they're adding new ranges of minis every few weeks, which is always good.
Anyway, I went through IJW's lovely site and went through the factions - once again, I'm attracted to an army marked as "elite" (always my downfall...).
There are a few things I like - namely ALEPH. Nomads aren't bad since they have Zeros, crazy Koalas, and furries, but ALEPH looks cooler. So - if I were to start in on this - would ALEPH be a terrible choice for a beginner?
I do not know why but I like the boxes. Must be the cheery colors and I like how there are tokens you can cut out.
Sorry I cannot be too much of a help regarding if Aleph is good fora beginner. I'm still one myself.
I'm going to insert a totally random noob post here. Please excuse me if this has been brought up before, I haven't read through all 86 pages in this thread!
I'm a disappointed 40k/Mordheim/GW player and I'm looking for alternatives. Preferably a skirmish game that requires a little less luck and a little more real tactical insight. Is this it, or this 40k skirmish with cooler models?
Thanks!

It's not Kill Team, it's not Mordheim, it's not Necromunda. But it's all that and more!

Sounds like a good fit. The only GW game with a similar level of tactics is Epic or maybe Warmaster.
Luck can still play a part though, as a crit at the wrong time can make a mess of your battle plan.

I think if you stayed away from the "body-hoppers" (Devas & Post Humans iirc) at first you should be fine.
I've played a lot of 40K and some Mordheim, and I think this is the game you've been waiting for all this time, at least is was for me! ;D
@Intrepid Adventurer - I was discussing Infinity with a fellow-gamer and ex-serviceman the other day and we agreed that it is the most realistic-whilst-also-fun replication of squad-level tactical combat either of us had ever played.
The presence of robots, TAGs, hackers, aliens, clones, hybrids and artificial intelligences just makes it more entertaining.

Appreciate the replies, guys.![]()

Out of the blue: Is the Scarface and Cordelia minis a one-off thing?
They said after the Gen-Con promo it will be available after it's general release "later in the year."![]()
That's cool to hear. I saw an image of Scarface and I am quite taken with it. I tell ya though, I wish there weren't so many cool things in Infinity...because I want it all.
