    Blue's Journey into Hordes. Trollbloods

    Well, for some time now I have been a bit......upset with GW. Climbing prices, separating chaos mortals from daemons, and not updating their DE Codex in how long? It is clear that GW cares about 1 thing, money. But this is not a flame thread, this is the reason why I am moving on.

    For a few months I have been obsessing over the models in Hordes and Warmachine. They are beautiful and un-customizable (which I actually like as it keeps me from trying to make them look cooler/personal). So I went ahead and picked one up. I cleaned off the minimal flash, filled the minimal gaps, and pinned the bad-boy together (during the process one of the pieces went spinning into my gut and broke my dremel tip, but it was my carelessness). I slapped on some paint and here he is;

    I think I did a decent job. Tomorrow I was thinking of picking up the rules and another warbeast from my LGS that focuses on privateer press.

    I'd think about getting the Trollblood starter box, you get four big models for a decent price.

    Also the diretroll is awesome.

    You can customise/convert Hordes models - you can certainly do a lot with the bases as well (Brushthralls is a great site to look at), but it is trickier as they are all metals. Some sculpting ability really helps (many conversions involve sawing things in half, reposing them using brass rod/pinning and then sculpting over the rsulting gap).

    In terms of having an army you can game with quickly, Hordes and Warmachine are great (buy a battlebox, paint it, and you're done), but there is so much extra stuff you can get as well to give you a varied army.

    I have considered the boxed set. Seems like a good buy, but for now I want to build my own. I walked into my LGS today and picked up Grissel Bloodsong(got her cheap because she doesn't have her scarf, but I'm not bad with GS), and an impaler, as well as a mauler.

    I've got my first game set up for tomorrow, so I will have to play with 1/4 finished models. Oh well. Expect more progress soon.
