You sir have done these minis supreme justice. I love how you are using the Purp as a secondary to the Bone. It gives them a kinda photo-negative look that is pure bliss.
    More I say!
On the note of the Talos...very cool mini...very unreliable unit. It is a beast in close combat, assuming you have given the Dice Gods an appeasing sacrifice. It's gun CAN do horrific things to infantry...whether or not it will is in question each shooting phase. Regardless, they do add a wonderful flavor to any battle, generally in the for of comic relief. If it's a matter of a points for a Webway Portal however...take the Talos.

He's right you know mate, the incubi look pretty damn fine! I guess your scourges screwing up was just unlucky! Maybe next time eh?

A talos would be cool-i need some more dark reapers to deal with those accursed incubi!

The incubi are very nice, how did you get the glowing effect on the eyes? Good work with your dark eldar in those two games, so far all mine have managed to do is die horribly against guardsmen.

    here's the cunning part.

paint the eyes a flat skull white. (I also did this on the coils and vents on the Punishers)

    water down some Ice Blue.

paint it on like an ink or a wash.

    DONE.

    easy

its a nice technique that I use a lot in my Inquisitor AdMech stuff and would use if I played Tau a lot more!

@ Atman- thanks again, I'm sure they don't deserve that much praise but its nice to hear!

@ Salarath- still waiting on my wings for the scourges

    updates soon

Re: Purple and Spiky - A Dark Eldar project log

Exactly a month since the last post. Its been a busy one. I've been involved in four plays at uni and lots of new work etc at the start of the second semester. I have also been getting my entry for the Inquisitor Hobby competition over on the Conclave ready as the deadline is monday.

I have resurrected my Dark Angels army and sold off the several thousand points worth of minis I don't need

I decided I needed more firepower but didn't particularly want it to get left behind as my force is fairly assault orientated. With this in mind I chose to make myself some Scourges (cos lets face it the metal ones SUCK). Here they are:

the mechanical wings are from Mirco Art Studio. They can be seen painted in Satan's rather excellent log on his DP.

next up are some more fast guys, namely the Hellions (I intend to get more but haven't figured out how to avoid duplicates...)

I also have Drazhar, for my Archon's retinue, and Lelith, a Wych Lord for my second HQ:

AND finally, because I couldn't resist and so that you can see what I've been up to, here is my version of Belial, NB he is somewhat PIP:

Annoyingly I do now own two Raiders but they are in Sheffield (I am not) so I have to wait for a bit before I get them.

Progress should pick up on this log now as I have almost finished reorganising the Dark Angels, have finished my =][= entry and only have two weeks of performances left...

    right

    C&C as ever

    its good to be back

    thanks, I think, mate...

painting is underway on the scourges but its gonna be some time until i can finish them.
I might try and get an army shot later on but I need some batteries for the ol camera first!

Re: Purple and Spiky - A Dark Eldar project log

Atman! how did I miss your post? oh well... thanks very much. I need to get hold of some chaos black before these guys can get started.

    In the meantime

    I HAVE MY WYCHES.

    here they are:

I have made these guys out of Dark Elf corsairs with heads and weapons from my Dark Eldar. The Wych Lord with them is Lelith Hesperax.
This will be my second HQ choise I think.

I have decided I want to use the old beastmaster model as my fourth Hellion. just need a board for him...

still need batteries for my camera...

    C&C as ever

Hey the wyches look awesome mate, a fearsome unit with a wych archite-you still thinking about sticking a talos/ravager in the force? Also, some warp beasts could be cool

Re: Purple and Spiky - A Dark Eldar project log

slight, cheeky update on the Archon's paint job. he's been fully basecoated. need to do some washes and wetblending then i'll get onto the serious painting.

    rear
Devlan mud will be applied to the bone which will be highlighted with bleached bone. the codex grey areas will receive badab black.
am trying to decide whether or not to use chestnut ink on the cloak...
    thoughts?

He's nice mate, refined yet sinister-like all the best villans.

I'd actually consider using a magenta ink with some blue in it to really bring out the regal evilness of the model.

And I agree. Very cool conversion on the Archon and great paintjob on all the incubi, drazharr included. Incubi are what makes DE so cool.
Plog of Jericho - Wood Elves, Daemons, Beastmen, CSM and Whatnot.

House: Yeah, 'cause I worship Santa. Or wait, is that Satan? I always get them mixed up.

Re: Purple and Spiky - A Dark Eldar project log

Hey Satan! I totally agree - the Incubi are what makes the Dark Eldar so cool. wish I could have more tbh...

ok so its been a while with no updates but I started a general log yesterday so, of course, rather than painting general stuff (as intended) I painted up my Scourges. I also managed to paint up some of the truescaled guys I did a while ago.

I am hoping to finish off my warriors soon before starting the Hellions (although I'll probably do the Hellions because they are more fun). Does any body have any suggestions for an alternative Talos?
