    Haha! The speed is not going so well anymore. But glad ur impressed. I got a lot of work done on the final two trueborn of the first ven squad but unfortunately didn't have time to get them finished. Will probably be Friday when they get done!

    Even more of a winning combination now that they are finished?



    Pleased with how these guys turned out. First trueborn venom squad is now complete. I need advice on expanding my force to 2000 points, so many options!

    Expanding to 2K - Haemonculi and their troops. Get yourself some Wracks and a Talos, plus three Haemonculi (always take an Ancient). There's nothing like free Pain Tokens. One particularly nasty trick is to start your Incubi + Archon in a Raider with all three Haemis, then disembark the Haemis before zooming off with max-power Incubi...!

    If you re-read the rules for distribution of Pain Tokens, you will see, that manouver is not valid...


    Start two Haemonculi and an Archon with a unit of wracks and a Haemonculi with the Incubi.
    The Haemonculi leaves a token with the Incubi and then the Archon joins with two more.

    Note really sure it is worth it, but it can be done...

    I'm not a huge fan of the goldcast wracks and grots. Although I do have a haemie already. Interesting point about the pain tokens SpeedFreek.

    @Gen.Steiner- I'm fairly sure I have a couple of shredders left from my scourges but I am using all of the blasters I'm afraid.

    From memory, if an Independent Character with one Pain Token leaves a squad he is attached to, the controlling player may decide which of the two gets the Pain Token.

    So in this case:

    Haemi (1)
    Heami (1)
    Ancient (1)
    Incubi (0)
    Archon (0)

    The Haemonculi all disembark, and each leave their Pain Token behind.

    What's wrong with that? Totally valid.

    The number of paintokens have to be split as evenly as possible. So an independant character leaving a unit with more than one paintoken will have to take one with him.

    Aha. You can still do it by giving one to the Archon and one to the Incubi though.

    Not quite as good but still funky.

    Gods. Over two months since I painted some Dark Eldar. Sorry about that.
    I have changed circumstances recently and have a lot more time on my hands. I also have a game tomorrow. 1500pts. List from a few pages back. Still not kicked the Hellions completely...

    I'll get some nice pics as we're playing in GW Wakefield and my opponent's army is lovely. Will link to his log tomorrow.

    Update time- I have been distracted by other projects recently but I have had a couple of games against peaoui's alpha legion.

    I got three trueborn painted today.



    I am now only running one unit of trueborn in a Venom and have added another of warriors. This is to maximise on scoring units and to free up points (along with dropping sathonyx and his hellions) to get 4 incubi and an Archon in a venom. I'll post the list later on.

    It has worked well in games so far.

    still to paint: 7 trueborn, 1 Sliscus, 9 scourges
    still to buy/ make: 1 venom

    Nice, although the flesh-cloths are a bit too wet and meaty for me. Also a bit puzzled by the blood-red eyeshadow?

    Other than that, nice stuff.

    And an Archon with 4 Incubi in a Venom is such an amazing CC unit I almost never leave home without it. Unless it's 5 Incubi in a Venom backed up by 9 Wyches. And an Archon.

    Sounds like another good build. Personally I don't like wyches.

    Glad you like the guy on the right. He's actually the raider pilot! Striking scorpion gun I think.

    Sliscus next I think. Put some base colours on him today although not worth a picture yet I think.

    It's pretty cool to see your painting skills evolve over the course of your log. If its been awhile since you've taken a look back at your first posts in this log I would encourage you to do so now.

    You know I hadn't done that in a while. Good suggestion! In some places I think I have refined my approach to the minis and in others I think it is apparent that they have become my gaming army and perhaps my Deathwing have taken gaming precedence.

    Although I am proud of the Venoms and a couple of the recent guys!

    Nothing can top my Jetbike Archon though. Shame he isn't usable...

    Many thanks @drukawski (a year and a bit late).

    I've got this army out of storage and fixed the relatively few box casualties. I've also reworked my list for 6th which can be viewed here: http://www.warseer.com/forums/showth...-pt-Dark-Eldar

    I've dropped a lot of the flavour units such as Scourges and Hellions in favour of firepower and ease. I may do a 2000pt list with those elements back in. I've just ordered two Razorwing Jetfighters from totalwargamer.co.uk - they have 25% off GW products until 31st.

    I've only got a few minis to paint (including the new vehicles) then its back on the board for these guys!!

    Well no surprises there! No pics no comments.

    As stated my razor wings are en route. But I also need a 5th venom. I converted this one up ages ago from an old watches raider but never brought the paint job in line with my current force. Here's the beginning of that process:



    Unfortunately having ordered the fliers I don't have the cash for a new venom. So this will do for now I also haven't got my DE bitz box at my new place so I'm a bit short on blasters. Bit of a perennial problem for me.

    I recently painted up this chap too:



    He's more akin with what I'd do paint wise if I were to start again. I like the vehicles in purple but I'm less sure about the infantry these days. Oh well not many more to go and they look good as a group.

    As often seems to be the case the imminent release of my other army (dark Angels) means I'm inspired to work on this one... I must be crazy I know. I'm still waiting on my jetfighters but I suddenly had a thought about blasters- I had a load of home made dark lances lying about from early on in this project.

    These were made using the stock from splinter rifles, the central section from splinter cannons and the muzzles from kroot rifles.

    I cut out the central section to give them a snub nosed blaster look and removed the splinter/ poison hopper so that the remaining detail could pass for heat/ melts coils/ cells:



    I salvaged a couple of fishbowl style heads to for the trueborn look. I'm very happy with the look and uniformity of these, I've a bit of gap filling to do but I think they're more than passable!

    Here's my army as it stands (minus the two flyers) hopefully they'll show up next week!



    All that remains to be painted is four or five trueborn, the duke (I can proxy my old archon mini for now), finishing the fifth venom and the two jetfighters.

    Shouldn't take too long! I look forward to a game of 6th ed with these!!
