Re: Mike D's Chaos Warrior Army

    Oh boy a reply!

Yeah hohenheim sure. I start with a basecoat of boltgun metal, then I give it a a wash of badab black (I used to use just watered down black paint to wash but badab black is reallly cool stuff). Then I highlight it with boltgun metal again, and if I feel like it up to chainmail or even mithril silver on the extreme highlights.

With the gold I dont have that mastered yet, its kind of hard for me. But I start with tin bitz and kind of work my way up to a mix of gold and silver.

Nice forsaken. Good work on the warrior bodies to make them look mutated

Good progress mate. Maybe try adding in a wash of badab black to the warriors to give them some more depth?

I already gave them all black washes, its probably the pics that make them look flat. IRL they have pretty good depth.

Re: Mike D's Chaos Warrior Army

Finally got my shaggoth done! Only conversion was a leather strap around his leg I greenstuffed to hang some gems and a claw off of. I stuck him next to a warrior for size comparison. So now I've got the trifecta of useless models for a WoC army: Shaggoth, Demon Prince, and Forsaken.

Here are some pics of those w.i.p. forsaken, maybe these ones will interest some of you. They are going to be a long term project as I'm not all the worried about using them in games and they can always use more tentacles and eye ball stalks (new idea) and stuff.

Also does anyone know why when I use the macro function on my camera the pictures come out grainy?

Next in line to paint, probably, is another unit of Marauder horsemen. I also want to buy the epidimius palanquin and make a chaos warrior sitting in it with a battle standard. That way I can smack him in a unit of warriors and make them extra hard. Maybe even banner of the gods.

Re: Mike D's Chaos Warrior Army

Wanted to show you guys the beginnings of my nurgle palanquin. I'm really proud of the nurglings so far. The chair is really work in progress, just there to show you what its going to look like. Im going to have to carve wood grain into it and rotten holes and things. Then Im going to decorate the crap out of it and smack a battle standard bearer in the seat. Really this post is all about the nurglings though.

But here's what I have to work on first:

Magnetic movement trays for a tournament this weekend.

P.S. this is my first time using the embedded images instead of the links. Are the pics too big?

Re: Mike D's Chaos Warrior Army

    I ordered them online here:

    http://www.amazingmagnets.com/index....Category=25595

    I got the $9.50 ones

Oh and I attached them to metal plates I got from homedepot. The thing is you need a pretty powerful saw to cut them to shape so unless you have a metal saw I'd recommend looking for something else. Maybe plasticard with magnetic paint on it?

Very very nice, I like your GS work and made the warriors unique- as how Warriors of Chaos should be.

Re: Mike D's Chaos Warrior Army

Thanks again for the kind replies. Here is an update on my palanquin. The blobs on the chair are going to be the BSB's thighs. It still needs alot more nurglings. I'm getting tired of sculpting them though at this point. If any one has any ideas for decorating it let me know.

Does anyone know what I can use for bolts on the chair? I tried using greenstuff and that small an amount wont stick to wood...

Does anyone know why my camera has grainy pics?

I played my first tournament using this army yesterday. I came in second on the painting comp against my good friend Joe. As far as the actual game play I might have won it if I didn't make dumb mistakes. For instance I charged my demon prince with one wound left into the flank of some D.E. Black Guard on the last turn... I figured he could wipe out two guys and still be safe. Forgot they always strike first. 550 points down the drain. I also stuck chaos warriors on a flank unsupported. They just got shot up by fast cav the whole game and didn't get anything done but scare off some scouts. Oh well next time.

Re: Mike D's Chaos Warrior Army

Looking good. The grainy pics are probably most likely due to lighting. If you've not got enough light the photo usually goes that way. It's looking really good so far though, the pics don't detract from that!
