    The Forest awakes!!!

Here is my scratch built Tree Kin (except for the GW Owl)

    A copper wire armature.

    Family shot

This was fun to do, and I am planning on making a full unit with an elder.
I also have plans to make my own Tree Man.

Let me know what you think. I have more pics if anyone is interested just ask and I will post more.

Looks more like driftwood than a tree but I seem to remember the Treekin were (sort of) consructs right? In which case that's a plus.

Oh please make one a hanging tree.

i really like your treekin sculpt, similar to gw's style (though much much more detailed) but it also has a unique look to it, the pose is good and sculpting is very very good, the only thing i think it needs is a spite or two, i think forest spirits always need some sort of sprit to bring out a good variety of character.(at least for tree kin/men).

other than that a very good start.

The head on that treekin is awesome! Really good look!

It could be cool to have more branches growing out of its back though?

I agree, I had started to make a spite for him in the GW style = a little fat dude, but I decided to make a skinyer more "spiteful" looking one, but have been caught up with Uni so I haven't had time

Thank you, the head was the most stressful part. I am still strugling to think up appropriate heads for the other Kin and the Man. I am trying to go with a theme that is more focused on the Tree Spirits as part of the woods rather than humaniod in terms of their head's appearance.

Good eye Thurizdan. I am trying to make my Tree Kin look as if they are dead wood held together by the forest spirits, I am glad my effort paid off. I was even thinking that I might paint some "glow" at the joints of the Tree Kin to show the Forest spirit's power holding it together.

I will probhably not make a hanging tree (sorry) But I am planning on having my Tree Man have bodies and skeletons in, and hanging out of him to represent the fate of his foes, and his large appetite Also I am hoping it will add to the "Evil" feel of the model.

Thx again for the comments!!! I will post more as I progress on my Forest Spirit project. I warn you to be patient though.....Trees grow slowly this time of the year!!! LOL

    Re: The Forest awakes!!!

Here are some pics of an old Tree Man that I customized and painted. He has a customized Carnifax arm on him and a lot of GS extras like spites, leaves, way stones, face, and moss......
I painted him a few years ago and as mentioned before I am going to replace him with a scratch built Tree Man.

Here you can see the scale of my new Tree Kin.

When I sculpt the Tree Man he will be bigger to keep with the scale.

    Re: The Forest awakes!!!

I have just managed to get a little work done on my Spell Singer and Alter kin.
On the Spell Singer I have re-shaped her tabard to be more Wood Elfish (not square, pointy). My plans for her will include: turning the swirling magic skulls into tree branches, removing her "crown" and modelling hair over the "scar" left from removing it. I am also going to remove the horned skull top of her staff and model it to resemble the existing GW Spell Singers staff, I am considering having a glowing gem held in the center of the staff by ivy similar to that pictured on the bottom of page 53 of the Wood Elves army book.

    Re: The Forest awakes!!!

The Alter Kin is going to become a female by giving her breasts patially visible through a v in the front of her armour. I am going to model an armoured hood (it will have the same scale pattern as her cloak) onto her and have her face covered in a similar fasion to the Waywatchers. I will also model her left arm to be resting on the hilt of a Great weapon that will lie partially under her cloak. The same arm will have a baby dragon perched on it instead of the bird, and I will also model an enchanted shield onto her back.

As you can see it is eirly days yet for these projects. but i am very excited about how they are going to turn out if I can transfer my ideas effectively to the models

Thanks Nagash666, I am going to add some "buddies" to him. I am just waiting until spring to base him because I want to collect some Birch seeds to use as leaves.

I just finished removing my Spell Singer's headpiece, and gave her a new hairdo.

    I'm pretty hapy with it.

The hair looks good. I'm getting back in to working on my own wood elves right now, so it's nice to have others doing the same thing for inspiration. What are you going to do with the helmeted head you cut off of your altar kindred?

I am thinking that I will use it for a mounted Lord/Hero somewhere down the line.

    Re: The Forest awakes!!!

Dude those rock, want to mold them up? I'm selling some alternates on my site for a guy who made this one:
    http://trollsforge.com/monstrous/tree.html
We call them tree spirits. Anyway, I pay for everything. I mold and cast them for you also. I just hate to see cool things like this not get circulated to the public. If your interested I started a sort of "Guild" as I'm calling it for sculptors. Swing by and show off your stuff.
    http://trollsforge.proboards83.com/index.cgi?
You might even know this one I did for a member here who joined up with me, Rikard:
    http://trollsforge.com/preview/lzcst1.jpg
Anyway, great sculpt and I'd love to help you get a few of those molded and cast up.
