Ha! Thats great! I mean come on, anyone can tell that the GDI and the GI are the same army.

Another thing just hit. Its rumored that in the new Guard codex that you can take an Inquisitor. If thats true, then maybe the assassins will be open to guard? That may be stretching it, but, if you can take the assassins, you got yourself a ninja there!

    Re: Command & Conquer Poll

Time for a belated update. I blame work, study and that ROTT fanfic hehe.

I was working on those two Nod Rocket Squaddies, when I realised I had the makings of 4 Nod and 1 GDI. So to balance things out I browsed the IG codex for ideas on how to pad out GDI a little with some infantry. I settled on the Grenade Launcher option and the Techpriest. Which of course equates to a Grenadier and a GDI Engineer hehe.
    WIP Shot:

I love using engineers so much in game, and the one I had converted up had such a horribly bulbous head, that I had to quickly paint him to see if it looked as bad with some paint. But I think it came out okay:

The arms are plastic Cadians, shoulders shaved off as usual, and I didn't have a suitable torso or head, so I used some milliput and GS to make those (and his wee briefcase). GSed his bare hands into gloves as usual. His hardhat looks a bit like a yellow beanie lol but... well, I ain't messing around with him anymore. I call him #24 Based of this concept, which reminds me I neglected to put the kneepads on him :-S

I'll paint up the rocket soldiers and grenadier next, no doubt to comments of Baron Ünderbheit Henchmen lookalikes and how Robocop/Xmen's Cyclops is coming to battle Cobra Fett...

I voted NOD although that is based on the fact that I like the helmet stlye; either colour scheme is strong.

    Re: Command & Conquer Poll

Another little update, I quickly painted up the grenadier when I got home from work last night and photoed him up this morning.

Cadian plastic legs and arms, Catachan plastic chest and head. Gloves, bag, helmet, strapping and his grenade hand all GS. I was considering being lazy and just using the standard grenade hand, but those are really the wrong type of grenades and I fancied trying to sculpt a tiny hand for the first time ever hehe. It seemed to come out alright with his tiny football-esque bomb. The grenade should really be a bit bigger though.

Just a reminder... this isn't robo-cop/Cyclops, it is based off the colours and imagery of EA's wacky original here. I even tried to get the groove with the red dots/lights into the helmet forehead.

Counts as the optional grenade launcher in an infantry squad.

    Re: Command & Conquer Poll

I've been a bit rude in replying to some comments so while I wait on the latest mauling of those Rocket Soldier guns to dry...

    ManusMarines
    - Genius. It hadn't occurred to me before, but I was pondering about trying to make some sort of Mobile Obelisk, with two Noddies manning it, wheeling it around to zap things hehe

AmKhaibitu - Yeah, I felt bad exposing all my infantry to radiation poisoning, but then I figured the ones that don't survive can band together into a third army of Forgotten mutants hehe. I do seriously plan to limit the tiberium on too many of the bases though, I just need to get inventive with some other terrain peculiarities for variety

Unforgiven666 - Which soldiers were you thinking of with a more balanced mix of red and black armour? (If I understood correctly). The best dominance of that colouring I've seen was on some post Tib war 2 stealth assassins I think (got the concept art here somewhere).

CaptainMatt - Snake eyes was always my favourite GI!

    Chris_Lancaster
    - Oh you KNOW I've been thinking about those bad boys. Counts as Warhound anyone? I think I'm far off converting such a horrifingly complex FW kit though. I might try a much smaller scale one (probably more accurate in terms though since the Titans were really walking Tank Turrets I think?

I realise I now have three basic GDI troop types completed and only one Nod, while Nod wins in the polls by a two thirds lead. So while I do plan on building both armies, I really need to dedicate more focus to Nod first I've got the two rocket troopers to paint tonight and tomorrow (will be done then) and one soldier. I've also started on a Flame Thrower/Lower Black Hand trooper. Pics due tomorrow

I'm also running out of Greenstuff and IG troopers, and since I'm practically broke until payday... ick. I'll have to make a plan soon.

The models are looking great, Corryn. Awesome work.

Can't wait for the new guard codex now, should be some more fun options...especially if the rumored "Poison" Hellhound is true. TIBERIUM THROWER!

*EDIT* As far as scale goes for the GDI Titan, I think it would be as tall as two dreadnoughts stacked on top of each other, with a giant battle cannon.

Between all the juicy rumours for the new IG book and the two Ordos book, it would be hard to pick which to use for rules...

But easy to admire the excellent work that's going into these armies.

    Re: Command & Conquer Poll

Update time. I sat down and bothered to finish painting those four neglected Noddies finally in between housework and gaming. So first up is the second nod trooper, that I used as an example for how I modified the helm in a previous post:

I tweaked the Nod symbol on the shoulder slightly to make it a little brighter and redid the same to the original Nod trooper. Notice this one doesn't have tiberium on his base.

I'm not completely happy with this guy, and he looks better in real life (don't they always), but he'll have to do since the concept art on blackhand flame troopers varies in subtle ways. In the end I resorted to a mostly unmodified Cadian Flamer, Cadian helm with GS, half a flametank from the Cadian Sprue, and I believe those were leggings from a Fantasy chaos marauder. And just loads of GS and milliput for the chest and modifications. Based of this concept and this one. I think he'll grow on me... eventually....

And the Rocket squaddies are finally done I had to dig around for a big "heavy weapon" base. I THINK that's the right size. It looks huge to me and while I would have preferred seperate bases I wanted to try make a Tiberium vein (not just random crystals). Besides Rocket squaddies move in pairs anyway, so it worked out They still remind me of Venture Bro henchmen... and I was planning on using the Cadian missile launcher, but I decided to try stick to the wacky looking guns they use in the game like this (which, in my defence I think look roughly like these two pronged monstrosities I slapped together). I enjoyed the simple look of their tabards with the Nod logo on the back. Only think I'm really unhappy with is the arms, I really wanted to do bare arms with the wristguards like in the concept art here, but I settled for the typical Cadian ones.

So C&C? I'm almost out of bits and GS and I'm strapped for cash so I can maybe squeeze out a few more. I'm thinking of maybe a commando next (really wanting to try a GDI commando, not sure if I should make him the "old" style Rambo one or the new heavily armoured jumppacking one). Thoughts?

All I can say is: At age 12, we are conscripted into the Baron's Infantry. At age 36, we are executed.

As to the question of which commando to do: I do actually prefer the newer, Gauss rifle and jump pack equipped commando, while I'm all for old C&C (especially the walkers - why switch to treads?!) the old guy was so rambo that people would b like "nice C&C guard, but why is there a catachan model in there? run out of minis?". also, jump packs are cool.

Fantastic work. Really like the rocket solidiers and the grenadier.

Depending on how far you want to go with this, a baneblade would make an excellent MARV. Not sure if it would work gameplay wise though.

Some terrain might be interesting too.. something as simple as giving each side a base defence and a power plant would make for an interesting themed game.

Will there be a raider buggy converted from an ork warbuggy? At a push, it could be used with salamander scout rules.
