What a monstrous piece of work... Ever seen something so big painted. Great work, hope you'll finish that steel monster before getting half mad.

Wow, coming together nicely. The black and brass is a very ominous paint scheme, and it's looks good on a tank especially. The banners and Frazetta-like artwork are a great way to cover what would otherwise be lots of empty space on something this size. Can't wait to see more pics... cheers!

This really is some thoroughly stunning work, old boy. Thoroughly 40k: ornate, dark and glorious!

May I also suggest adding Semper Fidelis on a second banner underneath the Semper "Ready" banner, I mean, "Always Ready, Always Faithful" sounds like something that fits well into the theme.

Alea Eacta Est could also be one to add IF you can modify it from saying "the dice is cast" to "Your dice is cast".

The Vanquishers should deffinately be given names, I suggest Dies Irae and Dies Illa, Day of Wrath and Day of Mourning.

    Did I mention it's awesome?

Considering that Dies Irae was the name of the Legio Mortis Imperator titan that breached the walls of the Imperial Palace I don't think that would go down too well...
    Looking incredible!

    Re: ZEUS Battlefortress (WH40K IG)

    Thanks guys!
This is really motivating and just what I need to continue
Yes, I will give the Vanquisher turrets some names, but I will continue the major paintjob first, see how everything fits together, and then do the "characterizing" of the model - weathering, battle damage, names ect.

In regards to the skulls, they're really easily done, and I hope you won't be disappointed when I share you how easily they're done.
As I said previously, the are not very realistic or detailed, just "paint for effect"...

    So, really easy..
Start with the outline, then a triangle for the eybrows (3), fill it, a turned triangle for the nose (5), and some filling to smoothen everything...easy as cake.
Then do 3 in a line, so you get the feeling for the gaps, and start with the next column (9) and within a heartbeat you have a nice group of skulls (13).
Now some highlights with Shining Gold (14) and that's it.
Quick and dirty paint for effect

Well, now that I shared my secrets of the skulls, let's see what else I did last night.

I simply completed the second Vanquisher turret.

    The Vanquisher Twins at work...

And the status as of this morning

I think tonight I will revisit the VMB and large skulls on the side, and see how I can improve these....

As usual, C&C welcome and appreciated.

VERY nice... I like it a lot, both the build and, of course, the paint job.

I am not too keen on freehands on imperial tanks (even this size), as, IMHO, are a bit unrealistic... but, this said, your work is truly amazing.

    keep it up.

    cheers

Klaus, thank you for that skull tutorial.
I am going to paint a few rhinos for my Sisters of Battle and I wanted them to look like those skulls.
It simplified it for me a lot. It is basically a key hole with an X though the middle, then fill in some of the blank areas.
    Thanks. -Tom.

This is really good work! I haven't seen many IG tank scratchbuilds that felt like truly fresh ideas but this one certainly makes up for it. Feels almost like something out of the early epic background art, very cool!

I see that beast conforms quite nicely with a fundamental Imperial design theory when designing tanks. Take a box, stick it on tracks and fit as many big guns as possible to it.
