Re: Tunnel Crawlers: Abhuman Imperial Guard

    A minor update:

My cycle seems to be "forget about these guys for a few months, then polish off a squad or two." Right now I'm working on the Penal Legion. When picking them back up I noticed that my initial skin technique (lots of paint mixing between purple, pink, and white over the course of seven or eight layers) was simply too time consuming. So I developed a compromise technique that delivers a much less rich skin tone, but at a quicker pace. I do like that their skin comes out more pale and sickly, though the old technique has far more depth and richness. In these pictures it's hard to tell, but the second fellow from the right has the first, more time-consuming recipe. On the table they'll all look like pale freaks, though, so I guess overall it's a win.

Hoping to get the first five Veteran Guardsmen done soon. Their skin has been painted (using the same technique) but now I'm struck with some important decision-making. As they wear scavenged armor to a greater degree than the regular foot trooper, I have to actually map out what the PDF uniform might have been, so I can replicate it on the minis.

A brilliant concept and some inspired conversions. If i saw this army in battle I'd be celebrating every kill the abhumans achieved!
Particularly like the commisar and psyker conversions :-)

I've been making minor progress on the abhumans, but I've been distracted. A bunch of Necromunda Delaques fell into my lap, so I took the opportunity to convert some fellows. Here is the test mini:

The hat was a little tricky, but the paintjob was quick and easy. I'm hoping to put together a whole gang eventually.

Well he certainly is one creepy looking chap! Are the whole gang going to be sporting top hats?

These guys are so creepy and well thought out. I love it. To me, this is what counts-as should be.

Loving the Dapper Delaque. You intending to make the whole gang like that?

I am! The hats are a tricky, time-consuming process, but the paintjob is rather straightforward and quick. I plan on having an over-equipped gang of about ten figures, with maybe a themed hired gun to round them out. I cobbled together a gang leader the other night, here's the WiP:

I apologize for the photo quality. He's a dapper gent with a cane and an antique plasmagun. I plan on painting the shoulder pads in a way that recalls his past in the Necromunda Spiders.

The plasma gun looks pretty steam punk to me. Another great bit of work.

My Knee-jerk reaction for the Hired Gun, whatever else they are, they should be female.
Really liking the plasmagun kitbash too, odd enough to look unique and interesting but still obvious enough what it is.
Looking forward to seeing these progress (not that I wasn't enjoying the other stuff).

A female hired gun could be a nifty contrast to your gang, whoa re definitely going to stand out with their dapper top hats!
That antique plasma gun looks so bizarre!

Those Delaques in top hats are some of the coolest things I have seen in a long time. Absolutely LOVE the pose on the Leader. Cant wait to see the rest.

Oh sorry almost forgot, Superb Plog. Great ideas and execution.

    Cheers

    EDIT

Damn you have made me want to start up Necromunda again now!!!
