Thanks for the update Greifbringer. Can't wait to get my hands on some of the Perry's WotR plastics now.

I simply must buy these, been wanting to make heavily armored empire fo a while now, but the only option have been buying the greatswords and converting them.
But with these I´ll be able to make a nice empire army without it costing a smaller fortune.

Shadow-Under-rocks weekly conversion log! please comment.
30 years ago, we used metal minies in 25mm. 35mm was popular too, even in plastic, not just metal. Then there was 54mm too metal and plastic. Rules for wargaming were out there too. 1/72nd was popular....closer to HO size by the by.
Today's options are GREAT. Plastic or metal in 28mm, smaller and larger sizes too, are available.
Perry Miniatures are among the best.![]()

Wow. If they keep their detail when they get converted to 28mm they'll be stunning! Damn you perry's! I spend enough of my hard earned cash on 1:1 WotR stuff nevermind tiny versions on it too!!!

Another update! Pre-orders are on now.
Apparently there will be metal hats for the swiss (and others). Maybe these will look a bit more continental (read: Empire). Either way, I see the current box as perfect for a Stirland force, and then I can move on to Wissenland or Nuln when the Continental (handguns, crossbows, pikes) box comes out next year sometime.

I was looking for an update earlier in the week and missed this completely, thanks.
They're stunning looking models, so I'm definitely getting a couple of boxes (to start with). Not to mention they're also a complete bargain- £15 for 40!
Odd that there's no news of them on the perrys' site.
EDIT: I guess if I'm patient they'll be available from caliver books with free P&P and a small discount to boot. It also appears as if Maelstrom stock perry miniatures plastics at a 10% discount.

Thanks for the info Raellos.
Those WotR miniatures look fantastic. The Perry's plastic range just keeps getting beter and better. What with the Perry twins, Warlord Games and Victrix plastic ranges, I'm gonna be one very happy (but bankrupt) chap, swimming in plastic!

I think what I will do is a 1000 point Stirland force first, so I can start playing soon and have a force geographically close to my friend's dwarfs (using two boxes plus a cannon, knights and a captain and wizard, more themed than it sounds).
Then, when the Continental box comes out I want to do a larger Empire force.
I'm thinking a force in three parts- 2000pts of Nordland Mariners (because somehow Marines sounds too modern) and State Troops; 1000pts or so of Tilean and Estalean mercenaries to make up the numbers (fluffwise) either using Dogs of War rules or just more Empire, and about 600 points of local tribesmen (Free Companies, maybe Flagellants and possibly some house rule units) either Warlord Games Celts / Ancient Britons / Germanic tribesmen. Why not when it's all so cheap!
How would the Perry Bros. and the Warlord games figs scale together well?

ERm... wow
Those things are very, very impressive: the Perries really are exceptional sculptors, and I think that sculpting historical stuff suits their style far more because of the more realistic proportion and posing of the models compared to the majority of GW's range.
Given the price of the box I am sorely tempted to get some, if only for the sake of painting them, as I have no idea what I'd do with them in terms of army building: I have a Bret army which could do with finishing, but they're the wrong historical era to fit in with that...
Perry Miniatures website has just been updated.

Cool. Though why Wakefield? Surely Tewkesbury would be a better choice?
Preordered - I hope they will do some early Landsknechts later on. Some of these showed up in the last stages of the conflict :-)

Well.......Add Wargames Factory and it's ancients to the check them out list. Wargames Factory is having a Black Friday sale (FREE shipping world wide) until it ends with/on Cyber Monday.
By the by I AM enthused about the Perry Brothers releases in plastic. I'll be searching the web for some USA based indies who stock them.
I am therefore I think OR I think therefore I am?
IMHO, Perry Miniatures, Warlord Games, Wargames Factory and if we are lucky, a few more companies will have 28mm plastic minies. It will likely take a couple of years to happen...BUT it "should" happen.![]()
I am therefore I think OR I think therefore I am?
THAT is good news. The more makers the better. That means more choices to pick from.![]()
I am going to try to take in a couple of the closer indie cons in 2010. No 2000 mile trips...maybe up to 1,000 miles. NO flying there....Why blow all my money on travel to and from?![]()

I had the pleasure today of seeing the fully painted three ups of the War of the Roses models and all I can say is they are lovely. They also had the sprues as well and these models are great. I'll post photos in a bit.
Baggers paints... My painting plog. Come and have a look.
How did you get to see those Baggers? Looking forward to seeing the photos!
Warlord Games had a Black Powder open day with both Perry Twins, Rick Priestly and Jervis Johnson all in attendance. The Perry's also brought along the 3ups.
