I am personally quite fond of that new wine/beer/water cart loaded with a barrel.
As am I. I think that's going to have to be the centerpiece of my FoG camp.
Back to the plastic men-at-arms: my various orders have now arrived, meaning that I have now on my table waiting for assembly four boxes of plastic men-at-arms, one box of plastic mercenaries, one box of plastic bill-and-bow infantry, one sprue of Mantic forgefathers, an unexpected early medieval warlord (from Great Escape Games) and a bottle of Vallejo plastic putty. I guess it will take quite some evenings to assemble these all - especially since I will probably also revisit some of my previously assembled plastic infantry with new headswaps in mind.
As for the sprues themselves, there have been good sprue pictures shown already a while ago, and I do not have much to add. However, it is worth noticing that the weapon holding hands are not cut off at the wrist (as I expected), but sort of through the middle of the hand, with the back of the hand attached to the arm while the fingers are attached to the weapon. It is a bit tricky to explain with words, but you will understand when you see it in your hands. This will provide more surface area for glue, thus hopefully resulting in a stouter join.
Plastic horses look like they would match up quite well with the old GW plastic horses (from 1991), though it is difficult to say for sure without having actually assembled one.
As usual with the Perry kits, there is a sprue of Renedra bases included. This time the bases included are 20x45 mm (8 pieces), 40x45 mm (2 pieces) and 60x45 mm (4 pieces).
There is also the usual A4 leaflet with some basic background information about the subject, as well as a variety of nice paper flags to cut out (18 in total). And as with previous kits, there are 12 different livery coat designs shown in the box itself, plus two more in the included leaflet.
I would be interested on your thoughts on the putty; how does it compare to other puttys and what it is liker to work with.
I wonder why more companys don't use the method that GW used for it's plastic LoTR kits, where the hands- with weapons/ shields already molded in- have little plugs that insert into sockets in the arms. It seems to make so much sense to me as you can rotate the hands in the socket to alter postion and change the look of the model. However, it is worth noticing that the weapon holding hands are not cut off at the wrist (as I expected), but sort of through the middle of the hand, with the back of the hand attached to the arm while the fingers are attached to the weapon. That said, from a technical perspective, isn't there a technical issue with the orientation of the part containing the socket? When making plastics, that hole probably needs to point straight away from the plane of the frame when using regular two-piece moulds. Depending on the item in question, this might be easy or tricky to work out.
I think that is correct.

I am yet to glue together one of the men-at-arms, but I have been experimenting with combining items from the men-at-arms sprue with the previous infantry kits to bring more variety to the infantry.
The new arms and weapons are quite nice, and provide plenty of variety when putting together dismounted men-at-arms. They also match up nicely with the different types of armour worn by the dismounted men-at-arms in the infantry sets. However, a new problem that I have encountered with this is that there is a rather limited supply of suitable left arms to use for this purpose - the previous kits contain a rather small number of armoured left arms, and many of these are either pointing/waving or bearing a banner.
The new banner pole is also a nice addition, allowing one to make a good looking banner bearer with the other hand empty (rather than holding a mace or sword).
The new heads also bring some new variety to the infantry, and there is certainly plenty of them (36 heads for 12 men-at-arms means plenty of surplus). If I have counted correctly, between these three sets there are altogether around 47 or so different heads to use, so one can certainly have quite a lot of variety with those (even though some of the heads are quite similar to each other).
Once I will get to assembling the cavalry models, I will probably experiment with using left over bits from the infantry sets to provide some more impressive command models for my cavalry units (officers pointing/waving with left hand, standard bearer with standard in left hand and sword in right, trumpeter) as well combining some of the extra heads from infantry sprues with cavalry bodies to provide even more variety (though I also want to use all of those plumed heads from the cavalry sprues first).

That probably means that the figures are also available separately (for those not wanting the carroccio). However, it seems that the initial carroccio release will be with the figures ("Will include: 1 Carroccio, 4 oxen, 2 preists [sic!], 1 wagoneer and 3 soldiers"). Then again, the previous recent wagon releases have also been available from the Perries on their own, without draft animals and other accessories.
I just may be buying this latest PM wagon and minies combo release. Add some "details" to one of my Renaissance battlefields.![]()
I do VERY MUCH enjoy plastic minies over metal ones. Heck being lighter weight makes all my plastic goodies much easier to transport to "other" battlefield.
All THAT said.....those are darn nice looking models/minies.

Personally I am more excited about those figures than the carroccio. But that is just me.
It is certainly a fine looking carroccio, and useable over several centuries. It is also such a funky model that also fantasy players might be able to come up with a number of uses for it - such as more down-to-earth version of an Empire war altar.
I bought a lasercut oxcart from 4ground just to bulk out an order which means I have a good reason (like I need one...) to pick up a team of oxen.

Some new metals shown on the workbench: Italian handgunners, crossbowmen and swordsmen.
(The last ones are probably very welcome for those using these Perry figures for fantasy gaming.)
The handgunners look excellent.
