Thanks to all! The refinery can be found in my terrain thread. I'm not done painting it, but I have some pics of how it looks now.

An all around outstanding job on this army. I browsed through your whole thread and I must say, it is some excellent work. I have also been mixing Catachan parts with my guys (both cadian and the WGF "greatcoats") and the outcome is really cool looking, just like a chaos guard force should look.
amazing stuff mate, i love seeing someone doing classic word bearer colours so well... and in such quanitity.

Hey again. Lately I have mostly been building terrain, and I am working on two special weapon squads and a psycher squad. However, I am still lacking some parts to finish them, so I threw this together whilst waiting.
It's a Dark Mechanicus Enginseer! The arms and legs come from a Maxmini bionic bits blister, the weapon from the GK terminator sprues with additional plasticard and gs work, head and torso from the CSM sprues, backpack from Forgeworld, laspistolthingy from a SM scout sniper rifle, servoarm from... I dunno, and the mechandrites are made from guitar string.![]()
I am still trying to figure out how to make cloth look good. I tried out the 'Grey Stuff' from Galeforce Nine when making all the cloth on this model. I made the front first, and grey stuff was really good actually. It was a bit harder than green stuff, and slightly worse at holding fine details, which made it perfect for making cloth. Much easier than using green stuff.
But I think the white part of the grey stuff is very sensitive to air, or I might just have bought an old pack, becuase I got lots of little white 'bits' that I couldn't mix away when making the rear part of the robes, and I know Green stuff can be like that it you leave it out for too long. You can see them in this pic, the lower part of the robe.
I sandpapered it quite a bit, and hopefully they will not be too noticable after paint.
*Woho! Funny thing, the parts I have been waiting for arrived in the mail just now as I was writing!*

I like him a lot, great mix of parts.
really nice mix of parts as said. them maxmini parts work very well with that mini
Thanks! I'm starting to amass a bunch of dudes to paint. I have a bit more greenstuff to do, but soon my new snipers are done.
I have now decided, I'm gonna drop the 'everyone in gas masks' idea, because it is a bit boring to look at, and especially to paint. It's a cool idea, but doesn't translate all that well to the tabletop. I'll show more pics of that later, but now I have something nifty to show.
Dr. Herbert West, reanimator of no slight note, and currently serving as daemon-physician of the First Acolyte of the Word Bearers of the 7th Host, currently employed on Ebolia IV.
And this is the rest of the First Acolytes (my count-as Straken) command squad (he will be shown later.)
I just have to point out the quality of the head of the guy to the left with a german WW2 style helmet. It's from Maxmini, and it's incredibly well cast and sculpted. The Evil heads were ok, but the WW2 really blew me away quality-wise. Thumbs up for Maxmini, even if they forgot one of the sprues I ordered. :P
The Squad without their beloved leader.
More coming up in a few days.![]()

The quality of that head sculpt is great! Love the painting on these guys too. Nice and drab. Scouts make great traitors IMO...

Lovin your work, some very characterful conversions in here.
Screw the head sculpt, I love his name. But the head is great, as are the hands...

They look nice
Looking really cool mate. sorry to hear about the skiing accident. not too bad i hope
Some really nice conversion work. Particularly the Dark mechanicus & Command squad.
I've just finished building a Beastmen battalion & found the spare Ungore heads fit really well on Guard bodies with a bit of neck trimming (& probably scout bodies too!), just food for thought!
Thanks, and @Graystoak. I actually have a bunch of ungor heads, but I don't want my dudes to look all that mutated. I have tried it out, but I didn't really like it. It looks great on mutants, but such a unit will be made another day.
Anyway, I finally decided that my 'all-gasmask' idea wasn't such a great idea as I first imagined. It limits me a great deal, and characters become much less interesting if everyone has to have a gasmask head. So I changed some heads around on my Guardsmen and Cultists, to allow other units and models to fit better.
Guards
Cultists
And this is how they look mixed in with the old models.
I am also working on some rouge psychers. These are partly the reason why I wanted to change the heads around on my standard dudes, so the psychers wouldn't look odd next to the rest of the army.
And I'm doing some snipers. I need 6 of these with lasguns, to make two special weapon teams. I need to reposition them as they are based on Mantic ghouls, give them weapons, and give them shoes and hands, so it's a lot of work. I got slightly burned out doing these, but I will try and get the last batch done.
