Thank you. Don't feel like I earned that, but I'm certainly not complaining.
Thx mate, it's still going to be quite some time until I'm back home and painting. But here comes a pseudo-update.
Thanks, you're welcome and I will. ^^
Thank you kind sir.
It is indeed a great game, great replay factor too.
Thanks for the kind words. I hope my log will help you decide which province you want to go for. *cough* Hochland *cough*
Thank you. I might as well close this log now. Getting a comment from you was one of the initial goals of this log. ^^
I shall deliver. But a word of warning first. What you are about to witness is indeed not another brave soul fighting tooth and nail for his home and family, it is a travesty from the ever so grim and dark future that knows only war.
And before you run to the nearest pile of rocks to deliver unto me what I so richly deserve, consider this an exercise in the wicked art of the stuff that is made of green. (Okay seriously I'm not starting a Space Marine army, just wanted to do something with greenstuff and this is what happened.)
As I did this back in Germany it saw some paint too (inspired by the mighty and handsome rev):
And a comparison between a red and a white Bolter, cause I wasn't sure which looks better:
Once again don't panic, and mods please don't move me to General, this is just me trying my hand at greenstuff.
I also took advantage of the strong Euro and bought the FT03 - Wizards on ebay.com. Can't help myself I really like those old school plastic wizards. ^^
Nice work with the green stuff.
Not sure if you're taking votes, but I prefer the red bolter.
Looking forward to seeing you paint those wizards.
Would you maybe consider trading/selling the sorceress?

the models look awesome....its one of my favourite chapters...
and i'd go for the red bolter for a nice contrast
Hey BUDDY!
Your work with the green stuff is realy good. And the pictures are nearly as good as the original.
I didn't know that you painted two different bolters for this mini. And if I had to decide which one you should use I am not sure which one to chose. The red one brings some sort of variation to the mini. But it also becomes the focus of it, as the rest of the mini has only silver, black and white on it. With the white bolter the mini has no focus-point at all (maybe the eyes). This would look realy good in a unit of Marines on the table.
So in the end, as you only have this one marine painted. I would say: go with the red bolter. But as soon as you are going to paint a whole unit of Marines change it to the white one. Especialy when you have a character-model in the unit, so this mini would stand out even more.
Keep it up and I am also looking forward to some painted wizards.
It just occured to me that, even though you have been so kind as to give me nice comments on my log, I haven't said anything back, or at least not in a long while!
I guess it was a mild case of jealousy over your painting style. So anyways, here I am to make up for that!
Great stuff you have shown in the past few pages. It's cool to see you took some time away from the green/red and go for a blue/white approach. It looks really nice.
I think from all the painters here, you are the person to turn to, since for me personally, you are the one that does the best job of highlighting greens and blues, and your bleached white colouring is also very nice.
So..... (rolls eyes) what colours do you use for your greens and blues? I am very envious of how it looks!
Thanks for your nice comments on my log! Keep up the great work!

On slim ogre miniatures:
Hey gargabot: how's that Hochland army of yours coming along? Mine is at a standstill because i went to study abroad (Scotland, Glasgow) and could not bring (all of my) my mini's, so I took my favourite HE list + models, now expanding that + started some skaven models as well... Will be back on the Empire list after June, if my dissertation is not taking up all my time by then.
Thanks, actually I like the white one better, but apparently that's a minority opinion. Gonna have to look into that when (or if) I continue work on the Iron Hands.
I'd definitely trade/sell that sorceress, if you're still interested. I'm gonna send you a PM.
Thanks, I'm working on my white... always working...
Thank you. Man, doesn't nobody like the white bolter?
Hey PAL!
That seems to make some sense, I'll consider that.
The wizards will have to wait a little, most of them anyway. I just need the Grey Wizard for my 2000pts list of doom.
I had quite some things that were distracting me, so sorry that I didn't answer your question earlier. Oh and thanks.
So, the green is achieved with a trusty base of Orkhide Shade followed by Snot Green (leaving Orkhide in the recesses) highlighted with Goblin Green and finally washed (once or twice) with Thraka Green.
For the blue you should probably ask Lord Dan, but IIRC it's Regal Blue followed by Enchanted Blue (leaving Regal in the recesses) and highlighted with a 1:1 mix of Enchanted and Ice Blue.
So hopefully that answer doesn't come too late to help you.
Thank you very much!
Yeah, mine was also at a standstill, I went to the states for a semester abroad. I'm back now!
Good luck with the dissertation, looking forward to see you back in style.
Update time:
I'm painting some daemons for a friend. Proto-Horror:
They do look less skin-toned in RL, and more pinkish. Just compare them to the skin on the minis below, totally different. Right? Right???
And have since finished another five:
I also finished the flaggies I started before I went abroad.
And am currently working on another five Swordsmen, I want to introduce some white into the color scheme, to break up the red-green monotony (binotony???) on the tabletop. So most of what's brown now, will be white later.
C&C welcome, especially on the whole breaking up of the green-red antitrust. I wanna stay with Hochland though, so no need to suggest to go with a different province.
Hey BUDDY!
Yeah, your right. Satisfied?Just compare them to the skin on the minis below, totally different. Right? Right???
But to be honest: I like the horrors where one is bursting out of the other. That's some real chaos! (and kinda reminds me of the Alien-Saga) Thumps up for this idea.
I am not so sure about the white in your color scheme. I think it would look good on a whole unit. In this way it (the unit) would have some individuality while still being part of the whole army. Maybe you should give every unit a certain color.
cya tomorrow.
The horrors look awesome. The skin tone paint job really does those models justice, and I feel it is far superior to the distrating 4th of July paint job the Eavy Metal team gave them. Are you planning on highlighting the skin further? It looks great as it, but it would be staggering if you highlighted it up to how you have your swordsmen/flaggelants.
I think some white in the swordsman unit would look good, but too much would be distracting. The odd buckler, sash, belt, bandana, etc., would only serve to further compliment the models. Remember though that you already have a neutral/complimentary/separating color in the form of silver. I say go for it, but go easy on it.
Ich wünsche mir mehr!
You're back
And in style, the new stuff looks great; those flaggies are really dark and brooding, you've
perfected the colour scheme there. I really like the freehand on the book too.
I have to say I agree with Lord Dan about keeping the white limited to smaller details on the swordsmen.
And I have to say those horrors have to be the most gruesome thing I've ever seen (in a good way), truly disgusting! The colours make them feel more real, and therefore more disturbing. It really is a shame that games-workshop altered the design concept for these guys with the plastics...
Good idea with the horror colors. The more human like skin tone makes it really look like some disgusting birth is going on. Also great work on the writing on the flaggies book.
Where in the states did you go? There was a bunch of German exchange students at my college in North Carolina for some program. (I lived with two )

keep em coming
I've seen the very first horror you painted in real and seeing the 6 horrors finished really looks great!
I think adding some white to your Hochland army is a very good idea and I am sure you will not use too much of it.
Good to see you back, Gargobot.![]()
