I am loving that deep crimson colour you have going there, and the swirling white freehand looks great too!

Re: Vaaish's All things Epic (and the ocassional 40k/BFG)

Sure, it's really nothing that complex.
    White primer
    Scab red undercoat sloshed everywhere
    white drybrush
    blood red drybrush
several controlled coats of delvan mud to tone and shade the red.
final light drybrush of blood red from the top only

After this you can mix up a bit of white and blood red to paint the initial highlights. You can use your own mix here, but it's followed by a few touches of pure white for pop.

So it's been awhile since I've been able to do much painting, but I'm not dead. Most of this has been due to class eating a huge chunk of spare time the last couple of months. I think my total output is something like 12 models since the beginning of February. That means I've accomplished far less than I'd hoped to do and puts me really behind going into the summer for some of my own projects. Anyway, these have be long coming and go with the other set of microworld TEF vehicles I posted a while back.

The more I see these, the more I want them.

They are nice designs. A bit hard to put together with all of hte wheels separate though. Using a touch of greenstuff and superglue seems to be the easiest route to get them fixed in place.

Thanks, they are a new line by microworld games. He commissioned me to paint up a sample of each of the TEF tanks. Finishing up the last of the razorbacks for the Blood Ravens this time. They went together a tad dark mainly because my delvan mud wash was a bit thick. Should be fixed now. Next up Blood Raven land speeders.... then back to the strike cruisers and mechs before I disappear to work on something special.

I've been slowly working on a 3rd edition plastic thunderbolt mech. Partly because the original was so horrible and I wanted to challenge myself and partly because I'm working with what I've got and that was what I've got. Well, it's finally done sans a bit of filing that has to wait for the GS to harden. Seeing what I started with and what I've got now, I'm pretty happy with the result. This one will be part of my ELH lance but It'll be a while before it gets painted. I still have conversions and patching to do on the other three mechs in the lance and some other projects to get done.

One of my favorite mechs, and the Eridani Light Horse variant with Jump Jets was always the version I took. Youve done a great job with this, as usual!

Re: Vaaish's All things Epic (and the ocassional 40k/BFG)

Thanks, I'm looking forward to getting the rest of the battletech stuff painted up. I've only got 18 mechs to go before I'm finished with about all I'll ever need for a battletech game.

In other news, it's been a grueling couple of weeks finishing up these speeders. I'd planned on two weeks to do all 18 but last week too almost the entire week for prep so little paint made it to the models. I did manage to finish up the models by monday night, but I had to wait till tonight seal them. I think that this will be the last set of GW speeders in the modern style I will paint. I'm constantly disappointed with them and trying to get the weapons to stick. I was a little annoyed at how they were painting up too, but I guess they turned out alright. Next up I'll be finishing up my strike cruisers.

Unfortunately no, I just packed them all up and shipped them out to the client today. Hopefully when the commission is done he'll be able to take a group shot.

Re: Vaaish's All things Epic (and the ocassional 40k/BFG)

I've been trying to get the lances built up so that I'll be ready to paint them and I won't need to spend a lot of time in between for prep so I've been trying to get one mech posed and ready in between painting projects. With the thunderbolt done, I decided to move on to the awesome since it required a bit more time being metal to repose. Anyway, after yesterday and today, here it all ready for basing material to be glued on and primer.

These battlemechs seem very awesome Vaaish Could you point me to what rules-set/gamesystem they use?

Am an old mechwarrior fan, might want to look into starting it as well

Re: Vaaish's All things Epic (and the ocassional 40k/BFG)

Sure, they are part of the classic battletech system. You can get the rule books and starter set from Catalyst Games these days and Iron Wind Metals or Ral Partha Europse sells everything else for Aerotech, Mechs, vehicles, and infantry. Word of warning, most mechs look like crap and need a good bit of effort to look good or are simply better off with a ground up sculpt on your own. Despite that, it does seem to be a relatively inexpensive system to get up and running. You'd probably be fine with a lance each and the starter set has enough mechs to make several lances provided you don't mind hacking up cheap plastic to make them look decent.

I've not played a whole lot myself, but the little I've done has been alright. Definitely more fun with multiple mechs, but interesting nonetheless.
