    Alphachicken's Saim-Hann Warhost

    Hello everyone,

I've decided to continue my Saim-Hann log on a different thread, since there's too much junk on the general log. If you want to see some previous process' please check the link on the signature.

So, I'm still building the army after easter holiday, this is what I have so far:

I've decided not to use the shining spears in my 1500 force, so they'll be retired till I start playing 1750 points. So far I got a farseer, 6 guardian jetbikes and 10 dire avangers painted, and I will be making 5 more GJB's, 2 fireprisms, an autarch, 4 warlocks converted on jetbikes and a wave serpent.

Over the last 2 days, I've come up with new bases for the guardians.

The reason for this is because using the large flying bases with 6-7 unit strength groups are impossibly hard on tabletop. They require a very large space, and I can't calculate any enemy charge/weapon range with those, so I decided to use terminator sized 40mm ones. The prototype is the above one. The squad completed with them is below:

I've also started on the Wave-serpent for the dire avangers. It'll hopefully be done tomorrow, as I just have to draw 2 snakes gripping the black lines and gems on it. Also did the red on 3 more GJB's.

I hope you like them, and feel free to comment or critise. See you next time \o

Very nice army Alphachicken. The red looks very crisp and bright which is very hard to achieve. Keep up the good work!

They look great! The red is very striking, and the black contrasts very well with it.

Those 40mm bases fit the Jetbikes perfectly. I also like how some of them are angled to look as if they are turning.

    Keep up the good work!

Are these new Guardian torsos on those drivers? How did you connect them?

The red looks very good. How did you achieve it? I also like the bases - much better that way.

One thing you could do a little more on are the gemsrones. On the close-ups it looks a bit flat... On the whole, the army looks very good, though.

The red is Vallejo model color bermellon red, n947. Its probably one of the best colours I've worked with, unfortunatly GW paints come nowhere close to vallejo when it comes to reds and yellows.

Uhm, I'll make a small tutorial on how to make them on my next 3 bikes, but basically the new torsos fit the old legs quite well, you just have to cut the arms a bit to make them fit, and there's a little armour part at the back that needs cutting to make the torso fit on the bike. It's nothing hard
Thanks again for all the feedback, I hope to finish up the dire avangers bases and the 3 new bikes tonight, so see you then

    Good job, love that vibrancy,
Yeah they kinda hop through the Warp like someone leaping through a fire, its scary, upsetting and occasionally you get horribly killed...

It looks great! Very effective painting, and I'm definitly a fan of rebasing the jetbikes as well.

    Keep up the great work!

Your excellently painted and based Saim-Hann warhost annoys me with it's brilliance.

Thanks for the mini-tutorial! I was wondering what to do about the crappy looking old drivers.

Great colours really vibrant. You don't see this army as often as some of the others.

Great looking warhost so far. Any close-ups of the Farseer?

    Re: Alphachicken's Saim-Hann Warhost

Thanks for all the comments guys, they really push me forward, however I can't seem to avoid the 4 stars of doom review

Unfortunatly I have a dissertation to hand in on tuesday, so the progress has slowed a bit, here is the few close-ups on the farseer. I intend to change her later on with a bare head, this is just a placeholder.

I sanded the bases of the dire avangers and did the gems on the serpent, but dissertation > all for now. Good news is that my direct order has arrived and I have 20 more terminator bases to use for my bikes now!

Anyways, hope to see you more next week.

Congrats on the wild riders dude! Saim-Hann were my first proper army, love them to bits! Nice touch using the regular Saim-Hann colours on the shining spear bikes, looks amazing!

    Looking forward to seeing more!
