    Re: Harbingers of the Storm

I really liked the blue-er rods you had to start with and when you posted the pics of the new ones before they went on the test subjects I was very dubious as to how they would look. But seeing them on the models makes me think they look great. They don't hog the focus of your minis as much and the icy feel as Ganymene describes it is brilliant they're pure cold killers. Definitely like the way they've improved the effect of the army

    Very nice stuff here

    Hauk
    Amon Amarth kick ass.
Also, listening to Immortal and reading Chaos fluff is an excellent combination.

When we meet, you will have the honor to take nice pictures of my models like you do, as you obviously have the lightbox and lightning for it

@Elazzar: Glad to hear that the rods even improved the look! The decision is made: the rods will stay this way

@bora: A lightbox? I don't use one. It's just a sheet of paper (actually it's the backside of a letter from the local financial-office...) under a normal desk-light. But surely I could take some pics of your minis.

Finished the third wraith (only about 1 hour work - I'm getting faster painting necrons by the minute):

And here's the group-shot of the finished unit:

They look soo clean and shiny.... niiice. Must be the latest Tombworld patch v.2.4?

Mine used to look very gritty and rusty but they slowly get their polished plates, so they have a nicer touch.

PS: Damn, Finanzamt papers? I wouldn't dare to put my nice models on that kind of heresy!

I wanted to try a look that makes them appear cold, menacing and old - but GW rust-scheme looks like all the models will fall apart in a few moments. When I see some of GW's necrons I always wonder how the necrontyr manged to conquer a galaxy when their main problem was that all their technology rusted into oblivion...

It adds to the menace of the army

    Re: Harbingers of the Storm

    Hi again!

This is not really a complete update but more like a "I'm still here!". The last days had been pretty busy with real life, so there was only little time for 40k. I still managed to at least build some models and started painting a few.

My plan is to get the scarabs and one squad of warriors done, with a lord on destroyer body next. After that I'll paint a second warrior-squad to be able to play some, albeit small, games with the necrons.

    Looking good Dezmord,

I made some pictures and progress but I had no time to post them

Also I started an Eldar army some days ago, which is so much more fun to build and convert... I did a dozen jetbikes in a night ;-)

PS: the destroyers can assume some nice shooting poses with a bit of tinkering, I will post one or two on my plog today - maybe you like it.

I would indeed be interested in some examples - I found the kit to be a bit "restricting"...

I think those Destroyers will look great with the icy blue paint scheme.

Will they be getting some source lighting like the Tomb Spider?

At least a little. I 'm going to give all the eyes of my necrons some SL and as the destroyers have foru of thme, there should be a little more SL than on the wraiths.

    Re: Harbingers of the Storm

Another update: Even though I had only little time, I wanted to get some models done - so I decided to paint three more scarab-swarms:

I also painted all the metal parts of one warrior and tried to improve the final mithril-highlight - more of him when I have him ready.

    Re: Harbingers of the Storm

These are THE coolest looking Necrons I have ever seen. Ever. The blue gives the models a cold, crule, uncairing look to them. 5* easy!

    Metallic gribblies!

With small models like that, it's nice be able to get a whole unit finished quickly.

Blue is so nice and cool on necrons. Id go with a warmer base though to contrast but thats just me.

Beautiful paintjob. You make it look so simple and easy :P

    Re: Harbingers of the Storm

@Caiphas Cain: Thanks a lot - that's exactly the feel I wanted to create for the army!

@Ganymene: Next unit will be the warriors. Only 8 more to go...

@xedric: Normally I'd agree with you on the contrasting base, but I think it would disturb the overall feel of this army.

I promise, that this is the last pic of a single warrior that I'm going to post - it's only because I think I've managed to get a better final highlight on the metallics.

Awesome colour scheme, blue is a brilliant difference to the normal metallic schemes.
