Dude the Arbites models rock! Looking good! What did you make the NVGs out of? I haven't played 40K in a while but, isn't 32 models a little light for 1000 points?

cool, those arbites look incredibly contemporary, i fear they do not fit well with the gothic emo image the witch hunters have going for them.
where did you source those optics?

Superb conversions. Of course, they'll be pants in the game but they will look glorious as they're shot to pieces!

Can't wait to see them painted up.

Re: Witch Hunters Army, On-going Project.

Im not sure on the "size" of a normal 1000pts game, but i ran with a theme in this list. Infact this "small" army is more of a door opener to other armies.

The marines are going to be based on Black Templars But red... and if anything more fanatical. The arbites are there to be the opposite end of "elite" a counterbalance if you will. Each Arbites squad is designed in mind of a Wealthy Inquisitor (Eisenhorn scale, Malleus era before it was trashed) with estates and funds to burn. The Inquis in the force is one of his pupils, who takes care of the "business" end of "Inquisitoring" (my new word, for what inquisitors do.. hehe) The idea is they are basically, spec ops IG/PDF/Arbites, taken into service of the Inquisitor, as snatch/bag/tag type troops. And when money is no object to an Inquis then his handpicked troops will have the best equipment.

The parts for the NVGS are, Imperial guard cut down Binoculars (the wrong way round) and plasticard/plastirod.

    I like, I like!

I can really see a running theme with NVGs and sneaky assassin type weapons etc.

Witch Hunters really suit this theme. Personally a whole army like this would be cool but I like your other ideas. What's your colour scheme?

that'll look good then. I know this is boring, but can i suggest just black cloth? from your other post i can tell you can pull black off nicely. If you want to tie those red marines in then it might be an idea to do red lights, purity seals, just any small bits and pieces.

I love those Arbites they look cool. Those NVG's look well good. For some strange reason the Arbite wearing his goggles down, holding a shotgun reminds me of the Ghostbusters.I dont know why but he does. Anyway great conversion work cant wait to see them painted.

Re: Witch Hunters Army, On-going Project.

Inquiring is what an inquisitor would do I would guess.

Anyways how did you make those Arbites? I know scoutbodies with cadian heads bu what sprues did you get the parts for NVG, plus how did you make the straps?
...and not a single damn was given that day.

Re: Witch Hunters Army, On-going Project.

The straps are strips of plasticard that can be bought in that thickness, manufacturer "Plastruct" The NVGs use IG binoculars cut down and back to front, and the plasma gun NVG's are from the plastic Apothocary back pack.
The white cables are also from "Plastruct" all i did was heat a needle then push it into the plastic, remove and slide the white rod in (no im not writing some kind of porno :P )

Why not take a vindicare?i pondered Culexus, but meh, i love snipers

Re: Witch Hunters Army, On-going Project.

Heres a WIP of my marine squad, the plasma gunner isnt in there yet but i thought these 5 would give you a general feel

They are of my own chapter, name isnt decided but for the time being we will call them "The Knights of Explosivo" (gotta love the D), I want them to be Similar to Black templars in attitudes, but slightly more maniacle toward the burning of heretics, The armour will be a mixture of red and grey i think.
Still very much WIP but comments and suggestions are welcome.

Re: Witch Hunters Army, On-going Project.

In what way? 50/50 down the middle? across the waste? or alternating armour pieces?

My current idea comes from this model, which i did a few years back and was ruined by Dodgy Purity seal (the snow flake type), id replace the yellow helmet with a red one.

50/50 down the middle, yes. Gold trims would look absolutely fantastic too, as the gold colour goes with red and black very well.

(I experimented the scheme quite a long time ago on a grey knight)

Re: Witch Hunters Army, On-going Project.

Well, that marine above does look good, but I wouldn't go so light with the grey, seems odd that such a darkly mysterious army would be pranching around in such outlandishly bright trims.

I'd go darker with the grey, an try out different weapons, with gold and silver, I think silver would fit best though, gold metal doesn't seem to fit well with greys, even as a contrasting colour.

Is it me, or are those Marines an extra milimeter off their bases? Any particular reason?

And holy *******' crap batman, those night vision goggles are sweet!
