It's just a small update, but I'm getting the urge back to build on itAnd the imperial fists haven't had any attention for a couple of weeks due to me being occupied by commission work
Also I bought a captain sicarius and the emperors champion which was so horribly cast that I had to mail GW for replacements, which arrived yesterday... Sadly they were even worse cast than the other ones... So until I get some properly cast minis from GW the command section of the imperial fists will have to wait as my commander is supposed to be based on sicarius, and the emperors champion was for a sigismund build... I'm starting to hate finecast...
Hehehe yeah I sure do mateI started mine in 2010 and haven't had the steam and drive to finish it yet seeing as it's a massive load of work. But I'm getting the steam back

Sad to hear that your having problems with those fincast models. GW/FW should get some better quality controllers, IMO !
You know about my warhound and now i had to complain about to tauros too. Same style all glossy and wont take paint or glue. Its just sad.
Best of luck to you, Mate !

I know no one has posted to this thread in a while but...
Im new to the hobby and am trying my hand at some basic conversions. Idon't know where to look for all these crazy cog and skull icons you keep using. I saw a few cogs on the forgeworld site, but where are you getting all the flatbacked skulls? Or is there some bit store that sells them by the truckload.

I have been trying to find some of these cogs and flat backed skulls, is that the sort of thing they have sprues of? This will be my first army, so is there a place i can get them? or is it something i will just slowly accrue?
Hmmm? Still no luck on my end.
I suppose the icons on top of the Electropriests are modified banner poles from the Chaos Warrior regiment box. The two big Opus Machina left and right on the Magos pic are part of the Manufactorum terrain (the set contains two of them, but you need to cut them out). Most of the plastic skulls could be ordinary skulls without lower jaw you find in some boxes (Berzerkers for example) glued on the Iron Hand symbols from FW. Hope that helps.
Oh, great thread btw. (from another Mechanicus enthusiast).![]()
Ohh my bad mate, I didn't see your reply, I've been kinda distracted lately I'll try and rectify by coming with a really awesome reply... Except I can't really come up with one as my mind is totally blown as I just returned from watching the Avengers![]()
But to answer your questions, the first picture is a skull from the arcane ruins set by GW. Second picture is a opus machina from a fw titan kit(the one on the door) and it comes with both the reaver and the warhound. Third picture is correctly spotted by Dryaktylus banner poles from WoC kits. Fourth picture, another cookie for Draktylus, they are from the manufactorum kit. The brass etch cogs are not the ones from fw (they are elsewhere in the thread, I of course have them) but are from the urban basingkit from gw released along with apocalypse and still available from gw, you get two big and two small ones
The skulls are from all over the place, mostly from space marine models.
Thanks for helping out in my absence mate, and thank you for the commentDo you have a project log with any of your mechanicus stuff by any chance ??

Well, then there's no chance I'll lay my hands on one of those in the near future.
Never noticed that one, thanks!
Only a small one, in a small german Forum - here. Nothing spectacular, and I'm rather slow with updates.
Awesome stuff here artificier. Truly inspiring.
You answered in post #637 that you use Vallejo Burnt Cadmium Red. Your Leman Russ in post #632 is more cherry red than the Land Raider in post #740, and I don't want to assume that it's down to lightning. Are they the same colour?
I was lucky to buy them off a friend who bought two warhoundsI love your models, there's a lot of potential in them
Thanks manYeah the tanks are the same colour, I have either used different cameras or the lighting is different
I've switched cameras a couple times and the light has varied a lot through the pictures.

Sorry I have never visited your thread before. I have so little time to explore the various forum I post on but your recent post on Adeptus Mechanicus prompted my to make the effort..... Now excuse me whilst I explore this wondrous thread.

Thanks, I need a tech priest for my warlord but d---ed if I'll pay $20 bucks for it. With your images I should be able to fake it.
Wow, I think my brain just exploded from too much win. Just looked through all 39 pages of this, your eye for detail and imaginative use of existing parts way beyond anything the designers could have envisaged is simply amazing. And even the simple things like the heavy flamer grafted on the servitor body, the mechadendrites coming out from the bottom of the magus's robe, the walking head in a jar, all really great ideas excellently realised. On the first few pages I was thinking "dear lord, these models, the Knight, the Defiler-based walker (Myrmidon?), it's all so freaking cool and detailed and awesome" then BAM!!! Warlord Titan from out of nowhere! And then a few more titans just because!
I particularly like the Myrmidon/Defiler-walker, the amniotic vat dudes, the Knight and the Praetorians. You manage to put so much detail on the models without ever making them too "busy". I was worried at the start thinking surely with these mad conversion skillz you'd have to suck at painting but I was way wrong! Seen a few Mechanicus logs recently, of which this is by far my favourite, and I'm thinking I may just need to add some techy allies to my IG army. This thread has been absolutely inspiring, fantastic work! But no love since early 2012? This army is far too cool for that!
