So, our gaming group is starting 40k...

Hello Warseer, it's been a while since I last posted here. But as our gaming group have decided on starting 40k I and a friend (Tadaotoko) decided to start a log on our progress as our armies grow and expand.

What we have decided on is to paint a minimum of 200 points worth of models each month so that we once a month can scale-up our battles. This first month will be a hectic one as we need to build gaming tables and terrain aswell but on the other hand it will be nice to get things started quickly!

As we all starts our armies at the same time this will be an opportunity for us to build our forces around a story, none of us knows a lot about 40k fluff but we worked out that the basic background is that our battles take place on a former agri-world somewhere on the eastern fringe of the imperium.
The Planet has a large garnison of several Imperial Guard regiments as it have been under Tyranid infestation for a long time and the war was about to be lost after the presumed safe bunker of the Imperial High-command was breached by infiltrating Lictors and Genestealers causing confusion and disarray in the command-structure of the planetary defence force.

The fall of the planet was though halted, when the Officer in command of the 139th Krashnkofv infantry regiment together with adepticus mecanicus agents acted on their own initiative, unleashing ancient weapons of mass-destruction that where secretly beeing stored in an old bunker-complex. The Weapons where though not as powerfull as expected even though if major parts of the Tyranid horde was destoryed together with many allied regiments and turning the once green and fertile world into a dead, desert-like landscape.

It is recently after this event that our gaming starts, with me playing the 139th Krashnkofv that without yet realising it are working for the forces of chaos. And Tadaotoko will play Witch Hunters dispatched to bring repentence upon the hertics.
Our gaming group also includes Tyranids, Kreig panzer regiment, Cadian infantry regiment, Ultramarines and Eldar. (still have figure out why the eldar are there)

Well hope the background was satisfactory and we appreciate help with developing it further.

    My first traitor Guardsmen:

The green uniforms reflect the fact that the regiment was not originally intended for desert-fighting. I have some more of those in the pipe and hopefully they will be done by tomorrow. I may get some WIP shoots of the modular gaming table we are working on aswell.

It's always fun to see groups starting new or doing escalation campaigns, so I look forward to progress in this log.

Those traitors are aces as well, you have a real knack for painting!

I love the endless uses of the Cadian sprue and here is another great one, also you have great sculpting technique, I'm a little jealous.

Maybe the 'Imperial agri world' was actually an old Eldar maiden world (one that they terraformed back when their civilisation was riding high and never got around to settling yet). They came back to kick the humans/tyranids off and are displeased to find the Imperials have sterilised it There may be ancient webway tech or other relics on the planet that require cleanup too.

Yes actually there are more of us though I ain't sure if the others have any interest in participating in this log. However I can promise I will get some pictures of their armies when we get together to play our first games.

Good ideas, I think we will have to implement those into our background, thanks a lot!

Hey everyone, have done some painting lateley. Our group's marine player isn't a very fast painter and he lacks time for painting aswell, therfore I agreed to paint for him as long as he was okay with me speedpainting them, here we have the results:

And ofcourse I have done something for myself aswell:

And here we have a WIP of my Rough Riders:

If your RR come out looking anything like the finished guardsmen I'd say that's going to be one impressive looking army. Hope to see more soon

thanks! what's the hard part about building them is creating the gasmasks for the horses, as you can see only the one I've begun painting has one yet.

Looking good, nicely painted renegades there though you might want to go back over the Ultramarines with another layer of blue. Good job on the other stuff too.
Waiting for less nerd-rage directed towards Matt Ward since 5th Ed. happened.
