    Armoured IG; The Temurian CXII

Here to replace my other ill-fated blog which shall not be mentioned, is my brand new... ehm... year and half old armoured company army, updated to the latest codex.

    First up, Roll call:

    Commander with bodyguards.

Commander is mix of tank commander and command sprue bits. Bodyguards are tank commanders (I have a lot of these to spare) with infantry arms and heads from west wind (british paras with gasmasks).

Same as above with advisor (left) and vox-operator (right).

Tank commanders and command sprue again. The advisors comms are on a separate base, which can also double as an objective marker. Yay!

Vanquisher from second squadron. Meet "Iron Angel".

First squadron Leman Russ, "Old Steiner".

    Recon Chimera

The tanks need squadron markings, and Iron Angel a hatch with commander.

There is more stuff to take pics of, but I will save that for next post which will appear... later, depending on what mood the cameras machine spirit is in.

    More pics!

First veteran/armoured recon squad, so far.

West wind heads (germans with gas masks) and Rocket girl from the last chancers with a biggerized missile launcher. She will be rebased and issued an assistant gunner shortly. She might also get a head swap. To do: Vox operator and and a few lasgunners.

    Second squad completely assembled.

Flamers galore, lascarbines and west wind heads. Please note the ultrashort lasgun next to the sarge.

    The beginnings of third squad.

Sniper rifles made from regular lasguns with barrels from chimeralasguns and space marine scopes. Heads from west wind. The female trooper is a resin cast I got from a fellow warseer (second squads vox operator is from the same range). The sculpt is great but the cast is at best so-so. I have a few more, but I'm not sure I can be bothered fixing them up. Will have to see how these two look with some paint on them.

continued in next post. Damned pic limit...

    Another recon chimera (first squad's)

This one has an autocannon as well as the coaxial stubber. It is also currently employing night camouflage...

    Third squadron Demolisher "Brutal Terra".

Please note that this is NOT an Eradicator.

    Banesword/Shadowsword command tank

Not sure what to do with the main gun quite yet. Added extra vox-sets and antennas to make it look "commandy" enough. Tank commander has currently taken some battlefield injuries but is scheduled for augmetic arms and a head transplant.

Basically the plan for my 3000pt list is as follows:

    HQ
Command squad with bodyguards and advisor.
    Lord Commissar

    Troops
    3 Veteran Squads in chimeras

    Fast Attack
    2 Armoured Sentinels

    Heavy Support
3 Leman Russ squadrons with 3 tanks each.
First squadron will be 2 exterminators and a LRBT.
Second squadron will be 2 vanquishers and a LRBT.
Third squadron will be a demolisher, an exterminator and a LRBT.

And of course some Super-Heavy Support in the shape of a Shadowsword.

    Yay!

And all I have left to buy is a sentinel and a pair of chimeras.

Re: Armoured IG; The Temurian CXII

Was going to start painting my infantry today, but ran out of spray paint undercoating my Shadowsword (d'oh!).
First and second squads are pretty much finished now, apart from rocket girl who still needs a spotter/loader and rebasing. I'll have to wait for the ordered heavy weapon squad to arrive first though.

Currently first squads has lascarbines with folding stocks from the tank accessory sprue and second squad has shortened regular cadian lasguns (essentiall fixed stock lascarbines). Third squad will be equipped with sniper rifles and an autocannon or heavy bolter, so I was thinking of giving them standard length lasguns for the impression of added range. Should I instead give them lascarbines as well for a more uniform look?

Anyways, knocked this guy (partially) together today (he will, eventually be issued a head).

Made with houseruling and/or with Inquisimunda/Kill-Team in mind.

I did the same thing with the heavy Stubber, I'm planning to use mine as count as Heavy flamers.

Out of interest, just how big is the difference in length between the Leman Russ and Vanquisher as they look pretty similar in length.

Any chance of a closer look at the chimera? Love how they look, want to do something similar to my own chimeras (Moving the turret of the chimera to the back of the hull, but i have not found a good way to do it yet. Then i came over your log, and saw you did it perfect)
New plog is up, check it out.

How about some unpainted pictures? It's not WIP stuff, but the whole converting process is basically two cuts and two small bits of plasticard.

    Finished, but without the turret.

Freshly converted. The cut should be visible.

I'll be building at least one more like this. Let me know if you need a tutorial or WIP shots, but really, this conversion is even easier than it looks and therefore a great confidence booster.

As for the tank main guns, my Russes have a barrel length of appropriately 6cm and the Vanquishers around 8cm. For comparison The standard Russ battlecannon is about 4,5cm.
I will be posting group shots of the entire army soon. Should give you some good pictures for comparison.

Gah! I just realized that you're the guy behind the rat trappers! I love your infantry conversions (although I wouldve left the stubber barrel somewhat longer. ).

I would be interested in seeing a tutorial on that chimera conversion. I like Bungaroo's but its a bit complicated in my opinion. If yours is easier, I am all for it.

BTW, I love the heavy stubber guy. He is awesome!

I'll be picking up a chimera next week then (or more likely, ordering one online) and make a WIP out of it. My conversion is essentially the same as Bungaroo's apart from the front weapon mount and the plasticard detailing. Consider it a Bungaroo-pattern for dummies.

Love your plogs btw, very inspiring!

On an unrelated note, I managed to burn my feet in a minor barbecue accident yesterday (don't ask), and thusly am forced to limit my feet-dependent activities for a while. While this means a lot of sitting down and fiddling with little plastic men, I don't have that much left to do until I can pick up more paint. Which won't happen for a few more days. *grumble*

Thanks. I am do for an update. And my xenos plog hasnt even started off yet.
But its all good. I am all for a bungaroo for dummies chimera conversion as I am plasticard challenged.

I have no plasticard-fu. Hope your feet heal up bro.

A tutorial on the chimera would be really nice.
The heavy stubber guy looks very nice, have made one myself long ago looking very alike, but i msut say that yours is better.

You managed to step on a grill too? We have all been there...

Hope your legs heal up nicely.

Its a real shame that there is no option for heavy stubbers in the codex cos your conversion looks cool!

I was hoping to remedy that.

My feet thank you for your concern, but it's really not that bad. I can get around if need to, I'd just rather not.
Luckily I've barely got any classes right now, so I don't have practice my funny walks in public.

Expect pics of... something later today.

Re: Armoured IG; The Temurian CXII

    Update time!

First of all, there has been a certain breach of proper plog etiquette. I hope this will fix that.

    Workspace shot.

Pet shot (could currently not care less about little plastic men).

Group shot! Everything that's been built so far, with the exception of the shadowsword (didn't fit!)

...and an "Oops! Sorry, I'll fix that!" shot.

...and the perpetrator, my nephew. As I rarely frequent gaming stores for games anymore, I'll have to have kids over to wreck my stuff.

For the hell of it, I also put a necromunda gang together as we're currently looking into some skirmish battling a la killzone.

Temurian Underhive recon team (count as orlock)

    Leader (sergeant) (120)
Autopistol, Laspistol, frag grenades, filter plugs, sword (+80)
    200

    Ganger (trooper) (50)
Lasgun, Laspistol, frag grenades, respirator (+80)
    130

    Ganger (trooper) (50)
    Lasgun, frag grenades, respirator (+65)
    115

    Ganger (trooper) (50)
    Lasgun, frag grenades, respirator (+65)
    115

    Ganger (trooper) (50)
    Lasgun, frag grenades, respirator (+65)
    115

    Heavy (specialist) (60)
Heavy stubber, laspistol, frag grenades, respirator (+175)
    235

And that's 90 credits to go.

    Thanks for the feedback everyone!
I was going to treat you to something finished, but after a few pictures it's evident that this tank commander is still very much WIP...

Sometimes I wish I had a crappier camera as it really looked nice to the naked eye...

Also, got hold on some old necromunda shotguns, so my flamer squad will be trading in their lasguns soon.
