    Naotaka's Imperial Guard

    Hi peeps.

I've been involved with Warhammer for quite some time now.
After a long vacation from the hobby I'm coming back. My friends weaseled me back in with a tournament and ever since I've been painting and spending
    You know how it goes.

Project 1 is to get the Guard done.
I completed my 1000 point force up to 1700, then the Codex hit.
So now I'm expanding and my mind is already wandering to other projects hehe.

First a piccie or two of the Tank I'm doing ofr an Apocolypse Game and the terrain I've done on the side to avoid going ballistic.
Both have been lying around for absolute AGES

Just a lil something I made today next to the three new Sentinels.
A new Techpriest that also comes in handy in Dark Heresy

I'll make a proper piccie later

    A little testrun on weathering.

I usually paint models pristine factory ready.
The downed lander I posted earlier got me thinking to give it a shot.

Both Sentinels were painted to the same standard, but the left one was weathered with a less
intense version of the same techniques as used on the lander.

Do you mind me asking how you've done that weathering technique you used on the sentinel?

    Re: Naotaka's Goody Two-shoes thread

    @ Scarper
    Of course I don't mind

The weathering was done in two steps:

    Step 1: Damaging
-choose some logical spots of damage like the pistons, moving bits or the edge of an armour plate
-stipple a bit of tinbitz as a damage basecoat
-stipple/highlight Chainmail leaving some Tin Bitz here and there

(you could simulate scrapes by using a little bit of wet paint on a brush and spreading the hairs by twisting it so it looks like a rake and pulling it accross an edge)

    Step 2: Dirt
-drybrush the lower side of the vehicle with Bestial Brown (mostly legs and bottom of cockpit)
-drybrush the lower side of the vehicle (dryer and more careful then before) with Bubonic Brown
-drybrush the lower side of the vehicle (even dryer and even more careful) with Bleached Bone.

The trick here is to do it really dry.
It's the same colours I am using on the table (over a black undercoat), my terrain and on my bases, so everything ties together.

Lasty I did some really light drybrushing over the rest of the model with Bubonic Brown and Bleached Bone. My reasoning was that dust in an armoured column will reach fairly high and basically touch everything at least a bit. It's quite a dusty finish but I like it really.

    @ Mojaco
About the Baneblade, the first layer of highlight is on the tank. Two more layers and then I can start detailing.
I'm so happy with the dusting that I'll weather the Baneblade too, along with the 1700 points I have painted already.
This is a nice chance to re-do the bases to brown and drill out the barrels of all the guns.

I'll make some piccies when there is a bit more to show.

    Re: Naotaka's Goody Two-shoes thread

    Hiya peeps.

    Another update.
The BaneBlade has the first highlight on it. It consists of a Terracotta line on all the edges of
the armour plates, to highlight the Dark Flesh. Two or three more highlights will follow.

The good thing about the BaneBlade is that I'm doing things on the side and I don't even feel guilty
about it! Some more shots of objective markers and the first shot of my Adeptus Mechanicus department.

the nechs are looking reall nice, i love the red colour scheme, though i really like the all metal one, bottom right, reminds me of the terminator (the film, not the SM)

Bane is looking beasty so far. like the black panel on the side, are you gonna give it any regiment markings etc?

    Re: Naotaka's Goody Two-shoes thread

The red is the first layer of clothing for the Mechanicum. This will be highlighted. Next I will paint their skin to a bleak tone and make some raw irritated flesh around the cabling. When that's done I'll have a look to see if these models need more or whether they are already "busy" enough. If possible there will be danger striping huzzah!

The BaneBlade's black panel will get my armoured company markings which are blue/white/blue stripes (the sentinels have the same thing, except diagonal to simulate movement). Nice these comments!

    Re: Naotaka's Goody Two-shoes thread

Piccie of my Basilisk and Russ so you see what I mean by Armoured Company striping.
As you can see the vehicle is factory fresh, but don't worry

Lovely work on the Baneblade, can't wait to see it finished.
The Ad-Mech is very nice, metallic, yet grungy

Keep it up and get that big Tank finished!

    Re: Naotaka's Goody Two-shoes thread

I'm calling it a day for today so a wee update.

The highlighting is finished. What I need to do:
    - finish all the eagles with a white highlight
    - highlight the armoured company markings with ultramarines blue and white
    - re-apply dark lining and inking of metal
    - general clean up
    - weathering
    - crew
    - varnish all the lenses and lights

I've been rather busy so no new work has been done on the BaneBlade.
The good news is that I did have time for two games this week
