Re: Ragsta's Battlefleets and Bravo Company

    Happy Monday everybody!!

Here is one of the first Terrorships I did along with two scratchbuilt escorts I recently made up when bored. They are built from Fantasy shields and Orc shield bosses plus a few tank wheels and flying stand stems. Great fun!

What do people think of these? The picture came out really well, think I'm getting better at this The flames on the tail are a recent addition and I am quite pleased with the improvement

Yay! BFG and the same Warzone minis I have! I'm looking forward to this one!

(Oh, and BTW, those Warzone troopers look great after they get a lick of paint on them. I have 150 of the bastards and I didn't even know how they looked completed lol)

Re: Ragsta's Battlefleets and Bravo Company

    Thanks for posting, Green Shoes

Yeah, the figures paint up really easily and look pretty good if I may say so myself- I have around 80 of the l'il suckers and they were darn cheap at £20! Ideal for the Guard considering a box of 10 Cadians costs about the same now

Hmmm this thread has been voted 3 out of 5 by someone- it would have been nice if they had put some C and C on here too!

In honour of Green Shoes actually giving me some feedback the first NCO will be painted up and named Sergeant Green. He will have green (ish) shoes. Hehe.

Re: Ragsta's Battlefleets and Bravo Company

Hullo, Caiphas, they're Warzone figures, mate, check them out here for a little more info:

    http://www.princeaugust.ie/target_ga...x_warzone.html

They only have a couple of poses but I have mixed up the arms and heads between the Bauhaus and Imperial factions you get in the 80(!) figure bag. So lots of variation now

Explodingboy, nice to have you drop in! And here's a scale pic in comparison to a Space Marine I have- sorry, don't have any Cadian figs but I can dig out a Catachan if you like?:

    Cheers

Re: Ragsta's Battlefleets and Bravo Company

+++Incoming transmission from the Outer Marker+++

Imperial Ships of War sighted quadrant Alpha 307 by 298, currently hunting Ork marauders in the vicinity of Flexeberg.

    +++Imperial Transponder Verification Confirmed+++

The Dictator class carrier 'Pilgrim's Way' with the Lunar class cruiser 'Startiger' in close attendance.

I added Aquilas from SM bannerpoles to these ships and swapped out the Dictator bridge for a Chaos one- it now looks much more in keeping with a vessel that directs scores of fighters and bomber wings at the same time, with all the extra sensors and bridge capacity required for such a task!

I think you can make out all the windows I painted in on the hulls. This drove me bonkers but now I have to do it for every ship I paint

C & C very welcome! Completed IG squaddies plus regimental fluff for Bravo Company to follow...

Well I thought as you've helped keep my thread rolling allong, I ought to come and repay the favor. Thanks for the scale pic, A Catachan would work but that one gives me a good enough idea, bit shorter and skinnier than a GW guardsmen.. which makes it about the right size compared to the Space Marine.

The Gothic ships look really good, almost makes me wish I still played, I certainly remember the grief of trying to add windows.

2 Terrorships being escorted by a Killkroozer

The thing that I love about Orks is you can mix in different colour schemes and still feel that the fleet as a whole comes together- the Killkroozer also has some additions like its rhino horn and a skull on the main mast.

I have added torps to the right hand Terrorship and also given her an Imperial colourscheme haha! What can I say? I was bored- I imagine the crew are Bloodaxes What do you guys think, does the grey need to be toned down with a black wash?

I put some armour plates on the tails of two of these cruisers so that some transfers could be added- as I used Ork related symbols this livens the ships up a little bit. Note the Undead shield boss on the Killa's tail section

C and C more than welcome!

Re: Ragsta's Battlefleets and Bravo Company

    Happy Sunday everybody!

I have been working on special weapons using these Warzone figs and have found that the plastic is quite brittle- they just snap off when I set the clippers on 'em! This is fine for the simple removal of weapons but I think more complex conversions could be difficult.

Pic 1) Here is the sarge, melta gun and flamethrower for my next squad:

Pic 2) Battlecruiser Imperium Ascendant being escorted by the light cruiser Watchman. Note the extra anti-ordinance turrets fitted to the Watchman.

Pic 3) 2 counts as lascannons and what I think I will turn into an autocannon. The lascannons will be reflective of anti-tank artillery like the Wehrmacht Pak 40, so I will give them gunshields and try and fashion breech blocks. With the autocannon I will try and copy the Flak 30 on carriage like this:

    Any C & C welcomed!

Great log! I was thinking about buying some of those warzone minis before when they came up on ebay, and now I'm kind of regretting that I didn't. You're really making them justice, keep it up!

Re: Ragsta's Battlefleets and Bravo Company

Wow, BTB, thanks man! Your compliments mean a lot, I am a big fan of your work

I will dedicate my next sergeant to you, please let me know what you want his name to be, otherwise I will have to come up with some bastardised version of your own name

You can still get Warzone figs for pretty darn cheap at 'Prince August', there is a link further up the thread if you're interested

I am in a very good mood tonight, passed some big tests that I thought I'd totally fluffed so tomorrow I will get stuck into painting another suqad as already promised.

I also quite fancy the idea of getting some artwork of my Flexeberg onto these forums... Hmmm, watch this space!

Re: Ragsta's Battlefleets and Bravo Company

The cavernous hold echoed to the sounds of murmured conversation and the clatter of boots across mesh decking as the transport ship carved its way through warp space. Perhaps if these hundreds of infantrymen had even half an idea of the insanity that churned and boiled beyond the ancient vessel's hull their attentions would have been far detached from small talk and weapons drill.
The Flexeberg 17th Infantry Regiment had been embarked for two weeks now- they were becoming acclimatised to the cramped conditions they found themselves in. 4000 soldiers and support staff had been wedged into cargo decks usually used for transporting iron ore, carbonised steel and heavy fossil fuels. Cargoes destined for the multitude of planets and asteroid refineries that spread out before the ship in distances practically impossible for such simple minded men to comprehend.
Sergeant Green was in deep thought as he ran over the morning's drills. His squad had performed well on the firing range- better than their first week anyway. Those damned respirators made accurate rifle fire difficult to say the least! His mind ran over their pending close order drill as his eyes settled upon another squad as they filed passed him, heading for the lower decks. Sergeant Vostok nodded curtly to him as they drew level with each other.
"This is something else isn't it? Makes a change from boring into rock faces." Vostok murmured to his fellow NCO- only weeks earlier the two men had been overseers together back on their homeplanet.
Green gave vent to a tight lipped smile, "You're right there anyway. I hear you have the honour of another close assault drill? Kinda smoky down on the lower levels eh?"
It was no secret amongst the platoon- Vostok's 2nd squad had been assigned several blast cannons and cutting beams from the armoury already. Green remembered with no small sense of irony that Vostok's old mining team had always done better than his own with such equipment. Now that success had won them the dubious honour of becoming an assault unit where such expertise with such short ranged 'weaponry' would be critical.
"It's meant to lend to the realism. A little muck and steam to mess with the boys' heads before we get off this ol' tub. Wherever they're taking us that is. You know anything about that?" Vostok was practically calling over his shoulder now as he hurried after 2nd squad, slowly drawing the red rubber respirator down over his head and snapping its locks into the environmental suit.
Green watched him go, "No word as far as I know... But I think we'll have more to worry about than simple muck and steam, mate."

Pic 1) Sergeant Vostok and 2nd squad (assault unit equipped with heavy blastcannon and cutting beams).

Squad done after a day and half's work, not a bad speed painting effort at all! I gave these guys red facemasks for a little distinction (figured they deserved the honour seeing as they'll be running into heavy weapons and all sorts). A Badab Black wash hid a multitude of sins on these, they make for good TT quality now NCO named after BeatTheBeat's Guard regiment cos he's a nice guy and keeps me inspired!

Pic 2) Did some work on the anti-tank guns by adding some improvised gunshields- I think I will strap some random gear to the front of the gunshields too.

Pic 3) And finally some Ork transport ships as previously promised! Made from Space Crusade guns, helicopter rocket pods and all sorts of junk from my bits box.

Do please comment on the stuff you see here, guys, even the fluff! It's the only I can improve and I always like suggestions for new stuff!

I really like the scratch built ork ships, the top one reminds me of the Stingray Terror Fish.

Nice painting on the guardsman still, keep up the work. (just because I'm on a break doesn't mean I can't make everyone else keep working )

Re: Ragsta's Battlefleets and Bravo Company

Man, you're right, it DOES look like that! It's nice to see other people remember that show :P I may have to refrain from painting it in Stingray colours tho...

Basically, I have momentarily run out of inspiration for my Flexeberg Bravo Company so will actually finish off some other stuff I had lying about instead (as I did say I would when this log started out...).

Haven't got a name for the Hammer yet, suggestions very much appreciated! Let's get the ball rolling, people! This was my first ever scratchbuild and I think she turned out quite nicely.

Also some Ravager Attack Ships- I just love all the torps they can chuck at the enemy. This was my attempt at using up all the launch and lance bays I had left over from my Imperials. Still got loads if anybody wants some?

C and C on anything here? Names for the Hammer would be nice
