Wow, thank you very much indeed, Mr French! You are far too kind - there are many fine painters here

So my plan to churn out some more stuff went slightly wrong - I had 2 birthdays to attend and the resultant drunkeness seriously effected hobby time

But I have managed to complete a 5 man team of zombie hunters using Pig Iron miniatures!

I still need to add static grass to the bases but I am happy with the tabletop quality of these guys. If I ever get around to trying out some zombie skirmish rules these will come in handy!

Also started scratchbuilding some Imperial warships... This pile of bits is going to turn into a grand cruiser and light carrier for my Imperial Sector Fleet (yes, I have now bought so many BFG ships that they are approaching fleet size).

Re: BFG Imperials, Scratchbuilt Orks and 17th Flexeberg IG!

    Hello everybody

An update without pictures but with a plan instead!

In April I will be 31 years old... *Sigh*... I have no desire to still be stuck on the same old projects come my birthday!

Therefore, I have sorted out which models need to be done and off the table by then and it come to 46.

46 models to be painted in 3 months. Hm.

    • 14 Devastators
    • 18 zombies
    • 8 Scouts
    • 4 survivors
    • 1 techmarine
    • 1 Captain

So there you have it - all of the models above must be done by April 23rd!!
I think I can do it - alot of these figs I can speed paint and I am aiming for a TT standard anyway.

What I plan to do is get a little bit of painting done each day from now and blitz it on the weekends.

Painting update to follow this weekend, guys - I promise there won't be any more updates without pictures until April now!!

Thanks, guys, and thanks for your comments in general. They have always been much appreciated by me

31 is not all bad! Trust me! Good luck with this, you're looking at a model every two days or so, which isn't too hard if you keep at it. Good luck.

Good to see you back Jihad. Every time I see some of your firestorm armada ships I feel tempted to get some myself! Very nicely painted. I really like the camouflage on those two military survivors as well, it must have taken a while to do.

Always a pleasure to have you comment here, Dragon Lord! I am glad you like the paintjobs on the Armada ships, the photo wasn't that good either! I like their designs, I'm sure just a FEW little ships wouldn't hurt you

The camo on the military types took a wee while yep - it's the method iPaint used on his Imperial Guard. I am very pleased with how they came out but not sure how effective camouflage is against zombies

    First Devastator Squad complete!

The sergeant is a minor conversion from the old Black Reach sarge I think - hacked his head off, changed the chainsword arm and blinged him up with a Forgeworld combiweapon. Quite happy with him - the head is a Steam Knight head from MaxMini and is one of my favourite heads.

Have also managed to get another 20 zombies done for my zombie apocalypse survivors.

Photo's not the best but what I'll do is get the survivors finished then post up a major 'army shot' of all the stuff I've got together after that ~8) I will ensure I get some nicer background and quality photos for us.

The long painting war continues (who has said that? Can't remember )...

Ragsta!! How did I miss the new posts?! What a bad friend I am, and after all your diligent commentary on my work

There is so much good stuff in here, don't even know where to start! Those Devastators look great. I really like that they are metallic without being annoyingly shiny (you know, GK shiny). And the red and blue details work great with the scheme. Same can be said of the Assault Squad, they turned out great especially being mostly salvaged minis.

Your zombies and survivors have always been an inspiration. Makes me want to get back on my long dead 'Ravenholm' project. The camo pattern on your military survivors is just too good. And the glass effect on their visors is top notch.

And like I said before, your BFG makes me want to start BFG. Hehe.

Antsy to see more of your survivors. And those Space Marine characters! I foresee great things

So ten models in five days plus already done on the zombies? You're way ahead of schedule, well done! I wish I was capable of producing models at that speed. I always think your marines are really well done. How do you shade your shoulder pads? Is it careful inking or a blackliner? And the zombies are just gross... in a good way.

Thank you kindly, my friend - your words mean alot I am glad that the colour scheme for this Chapter is working out - I was worried that they were a bit 'blingy' but I wanted something bright for my shelves!
Thank you for the feedback on the survivors! I am very pleased with the glass effect on those guys! Your Ravenholm work was great, you really should pick that up again

Thank you, Sureshot! Yes, I have managed to make a great deal of progress so far - very pleased to have all my zombies done! And thank you for your feedback re. the Marines - I should have the 8 Scouts finished this weekend. So long as I stay out of the pub long enough
The black lining on the shoulder pads - I actually used a detail brush with watered down black for these. I usually manage to get away with minimal corrections actually! That might be just luck...

Guys, thank you very much for your kind words, that really means alot to me! I will have an update this weekend with my completed Scouts and then it will on to my characters!

Re: BFG Imperials, Scratchbuilt Orks and 17th Flexeberg IG!

Ohhhh dear, more than a month since I last posted But I have continued to work through my personal painting challenge!

Yes, I know they weren't on the list but I got rather distracted! And it still counts as 5 models towards my goal - 2 grey Cobras to fill out the squadrons I already have plus a squadron of 3 blue vessels as a change of palette to keep me sane. They'll eventually be part of a Rogue Trader fleet..

Not 1 but 2 Techmarines! I have decided to put my commander on hold for now as I am somewhat lacking in inspiration for him. The second Techmarine is to make up a little bit for lack of characters. They are made from assorted bits and FW gubbins.

Not 8 but 10 Scouts! I quickly slapped some paint on my 8 Scouts but they didn't sit well with me - had to go back and bring the unti up to 10 :P These were very speedily painted - I don't see them having much tabletop time anyway but still pleased with getting them done.

And finally, 3 out of 4 zombie apocalypse survivors. The young lady on the left was (ironically enough) a total nightmare to paint and put together. She is made from the most beautiful resin and has rather detailed curves but I am reasonably happy with the paintjob. I enjoyed painting the riot cop, and the 'leader' made me laugh! These were all amazingly donated from Gomez, so a big thank you to him.

Soooo where does that leave me? I have 20 days left before my birthday deadline - 4 Devastators and a zombie survivor left to paint! How hard can that be? I am really NOT enjoying painting Devastator Marines at all - they're the old metal/ plastic hybrids and they're horrible! I will see what I can do though.

In other news - I recently had the pleasure of meeting my buddy Scarper from a certain forum! We had a few brews and played some games of Zombicide with varying degrees of success - it's a very cool game and I am delighted that Scarper took the time to play! I also got a peek firsthand at some of his zombies and conversions and they are very cool indeed. Check out his thread for some very cool stuff.

Thanks for looking everybody - any comments or criticisms are always very gratefully received! Some of the photos are rather sketchy - I really need to sort out a proper setup some time.

Have a great Easter Weekend

I am fond of your marines color scheme, amazing devastators!
Love the zombies too, nice swarm feeling!

Re: BFG Imperials, Scratchbuilt Orks and 17th Flexeberg IG!

The latest batch of zombies are looking good, I like the way the grass on the bases looks kind of infected too The techmarines look good too, that's a very nice slightly grubby, rusty red you've got on them, and of course I always like seeing more BFG ships (you may also be pleased to hear I finally gave in and bought a couple of Firestorm Armada ships!).

Re: BFG Imperials, Scratchbuilt Orks and 17th Flexeberg IG!

I had to pin the old metal/plastic hybrids to get the guns to stay on. Absolutely nightmares so I feel your pain. But only 5 to go in twenty days, COME ON!
