Looks excellent once again, you should definately continue with these patterns of ships (at least a few more escorts!).

Although with all though flight bays you have the same problem as me - the lack of a dedicated aircraft carrier!

Amazing Cruiser, your scratchbuilding skills are something to be proud of! I don't mind admitting my scratchbuilding is pretty poor compared to yours, keep it up

The Brazen Minotaurs are looking very good and I am definitely liking that light cruiser, I feel I need to do another scratchbuild myself now, alas I have been rather busy since getting back to uni and haven't had the time.
The engines and the bridge look especially good, though I do agree that the bridge neck could perhaps use a little bulking up, a bit of greenstuff around the top of the neck section would probably do.

It's been a while A big happy Halloween to everybody, I hope the last week or so has been full of dodgy photos of costumes and high jinks. I was an Arab Sheikh complete with worrying beard!

Thank you for everyone's kind words- Dragonlord, I hope uni is going well for you, ahh the good old days of drinking tax payers' money eh!

OOC, I will try less hard just for you, mate

During the Third Armageddon War the light carrier I.N.S Daring did sterling service escorting convoys into the warzone around Armageddon. It is said by Imperial Navy sailors that their ships have 'souls'- if this is the case then the Daring has a distinctly impetuous spirit. Standard evasive manoeuvres suffer from sluggish thrusters and sudden course changes towards enemy forces, weapon turrets and lances have an impressive tendency towards accuracy and the Daring also possesses some of the most efficient reactors within her class, at least within Battlefleet Armageddon.

Commanded by Captain Ramos N'Kai, the Daring continues to perform good service keeping supply routes open. Her sleek hull has proven a welcome sight to many beleaguered freighter captains in these dark times.

Finished the light cruiser! It really is impressive the difference little additions like windows and lights can make! I have some highlights to add around weapons, prow and thrusters but otherwise she's finished. It's a shame the Defiant class has such ropey rules in BFG, otherwise I'd make more!

Comments and criticisms welcome as always- I had a nightmare time getting her based- the drill bit simply refused to go through! This made me uneasy- could the model be refusing to cooperate? I'm locking this ship up right now.

Well, the next update should see a painted Ork Battlecruiser, I have undercoated it and added a wash of Tin Bitz ready for the drybrushing to begin.

Hope you like what you see, let me know how everyone is doing! Cheers, gents!

Awwww, thanks guys! You make me blush! The colours really worked out nicely I agree, thanks so much for your kind words!

I have been doodling ideas for a cruiser scratchbuild and have also started thinking about an Endeavour class to chum the Daring around on her convoy runs... Meh, more sore fingers coming up!

By the weekend we will have that painted Ork ship for you fine people, cheers!

Uni is going quite well thanks, lots of work, but also a fair bit of drinking
Anyway the Daring is looking very nice, love the little bit about the her soul too. Looking forward to the ork ship and your scratchbuilt cruiser.

Thanks, mate! Glad uni is going as it should Yeah, there's a section in Battlefleet Gothic Armada about ships having 'souls' and I really wanted to play upon that with my fluff, you can expect to see a little more of it.

Just a wee update, chaps, I have been doing some work on an Endeavour like I said I would. Currently it looks very similar to the Daring (as it should, they're the same hull design after all) but once I'm done it will be a centimetre or so longer with different prow plating and a different engine array. You can probably see that in the pic.

An insight into scratchbuilding- the bridge area used to be an Epic Ork Weirdboy tower! Lance turret from a Chaos Idolator escort and engine hub one of the IG tank wheels. Looks pretty shoddy just now but hopefully it will show you where I'm headed. It may even give you some ideas of your own, I do hope so!

Man, so glad it's Friday tomorrow, it's been a long week but at least I have some modelling and painting to look forward to! I'm so cool...

Re: BFG Imperials, Scratchbuilt Orks and 17th Flexeberg IG!

Hmmm, an interesting question, old chap! Hopefully the gundecks will look nice, could do with some suggestions for them but currently might do a version of what the Exorcist build has?

Any suggestions for where to go from here would be much appreciated! Don't really want to add to the prow cos that will make the sucker even longer... The engine array will be a different layout from the Daring. I have been inspired by the scene in Return of the Jedi where all the Rebel cruisers are falling back- whole load of different drive tubes to seen in different arrangements

Any ideas for the bridge? I am thinking about making it more squat than the Daring- maybe play upon the bridge of the Explorator I did.

Thoughts anyone? Blech, time to go to work- ah well, I will just doodle some ideas when I get there

Re: BFG Imperials, Scratchbuilt Orks and 17th Flexeberg IG!

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen of Warseer!

So yes, new router = slower internet connection!

Hope everyone has had a nice weekend, I have been hacking plasticard and bitz apart in a frenzy of inspiration and wanted to share what I have with you.

Pics 1 and 2) I managed to come up with a nice take on weapons batteries that I hope you can make out here- somewhat fiddly but the end result is a light cruiser bristling with guns! The engines and bridge were very labour intensive and I am now looking to painting the sucker up and getting some fluff written down for it! Please do let me know what you guys think!

Pic 3) I wanted to show you the development of the Ork Battlecruiser. Some bits have gone cos they were a bit naff but the general effect is looking quite ramshackle if I may say so myself!

Just undercoated black BUT with a heavily watered down coat of Tinbitz over it. Now ready to be drybrushed. Wanted you guys to see it cos the rust effect might be quite good for vehicles, Orks and junker stuff in general.

Pic 4) Let me know what you think, please, too flimsy? It's actually very sturdy for the plastic models at least- plus I think once they're properly painted up it will 'suspend' my ships in space quite nicely!

Any feedback on anything you see here would be much appreciated, these are the latest things I'm working on and I would like them to turn out to everyone's liking!

Brass rod for space ship bases... now where have I seen that before

I think using the ork weirdboy tower base was a stroke of genius as it blends in really well, although I'd whack a bit of putty on the tracks to avoid anybody spotting it. I think the work on the guns really shows although something doesnt quite sit well with me about them. Lets see it painted up and I'll suggest from there (too late I know but hey :P)

Busted! I was definitely encouraged to do it by your work, mate, thanks for that! It has been a real pain learning to do this kind of basing but I really like the finished effect now.

I know what you mean about the gun batteries but I think I will just chalk this up to experience. Thanks for the comments in general, the tracks too I was somewhat concerned about BUT a picture is better than a thousand words!!

Endeavour class light cruiser Hand of Erebus. Seriously damaged during the Battle of Pelucidar, the Erebus had extensive engine repairs and was reassigned to convoy escort duties and policing the fringe systems of the Armageddon sector. Her captain, Javier Varesh, bears the scars of Pelucidar as does his ship. Those who have served on the Hand of Erebus speak of strange dreams of a smouldering rage and resentment of the retreat from Pelucidar that lingers within the ship itself. This ship has been responsible for several commendable actions of ruthless efficiency against unarmed xenos and crippled pirate vessels.

Pic 2) Very pleased with how the engines came out on this ship, some highlights on the drive tubes and antenna really paid off too! This model is maybe 2 cms longer than the light carrier but I imagine this to be accurate- she has more gun crew and equipment to carry after all

I am really pleased with how the paintscheme has come out on the light cruisers- they look dark and archaic, which is what I imagine many Imperial ships to be!

Pic 3) The 'Red Jesters' Starfury squadron and my Starhawk Bombers, the 'Stonehawks.' They look slightly better in real life, I have learned to take my photography skills with a pinch of salt

Pic 4) PIP on the Ork Hammer class! I am very pleased with how the 'face' has come out, I thought I should do the bionicle head justice after all!

Please do comment and criticise on anything on these pages, I really appreciate anything coming my way. I've got a cold just now, which is how I've managed to churn out so much stuff haha!

S'all looking good as usual, Jihad

I want more ships with Bionicle parts! They remind me of when I was a wee lad
The only thing I would suggest if you use a Bionicle head again to too make it into an orky face, ie lots of teef and a big bolt on eyebrow

Re: BFG Imperials, Scratchbuilt Orks and 17th Flexeberg IG!

Your right, the tracks aren't really noticable any more, it fits with the look quite well. The engine looks excellent, really looks like it could fling it through space and I dont think the cannons look half as bad as they did.

Not for me to be a pain in the rear - that big gold section on the font.... I'd whack another panel on so it matches the Daring.

As for the ork cruiser, I'd make the rest of the body look more patch work of colors but other then that, s'all good

Speaking of floaty space ships and such, have you seen any of the firestorm armada stuff? Theres some distinctly adeptus mechanicus looking vessels being released...
