Glad you like the tank build, I am pondering making a siege mortar platform at some point.

The Guard scheme is growing on me too!

Space Marine Strike Cruiser 'Martyr of Devlan' of the Inferno Skull Chapter.

Well, that's the last ship for my Imperial battlefleet finished! I now have a pleasant selection light and medium cruisers.

What do you think of her? I am planning to add some writing to the prow side plates, just to break up the blankness a bit. Not my best paintjob but at least it's finished!

Strike cruiser is looking good! Complements the 40k marines well IMO. The guardsmen and especially the Ragnarok turned out great as well, nice to see it painted up at last. You really did a good job with scratchbuilding that one!

It has a lime green color, and turns anything it hits into pulp. Just my attempt at giving it a nickname.
Nice work on the Strike Cruiser, definitely put something on the prow to break up the flat space, as it is very evident with the level of detail on the rest of the model.

    Oooh, multiple updates.
The strike cruiser is looking very nice, the shading on the blue-grey and metal parts works very well, though I do agree with Logarithm Udgaur, the prow definitely needs something to break up the red a bit. The Inferno Skull marines are looking good too, a little wash of badab black perhaps to dull it down and the battle damage you've done will look very nice, it looks just right for the armour having scraped against something and rubbed the paint off.

The guardsmen are coming along nicely, as you say a simple colourscheme but it works well.

Good to see the Ragnarok finished, painting tanks is annoying I agree, I'd definitely use a spray gun/airbrush if you can.

Good luck in Gothicomp too, I hope your stuff does well.

Re: BFG Imperials, Scratchbuilt Orks and 17th Flexeberg IG!

Thanks for all the kind words, guys, glad you like what you see!

I have done a little work on some small squads of Guardsmen- just fancied trying some new basing ideas and using some different heads...

Touched up the squad you guys saw last time BUT added a squad leader converted from an old SM Scout sergeant. Tried using light sourcing on his visor for the first time, dunno if you can see it from the picture?

Now HERE I tried a camouflage scheme on green fatigues - the method was taken from Odmiller's cool urban fighting Cadians in his log. *Sigh* You can't really see the scheme in the picture Some cool pieces in this particular squad thanks to Gomez- including Brains from Schaeffer's Last Chancers!

Note the light sourcing on the squad leader's helmet - my second attempt and it's already quite an improvement!

So I have something new coming soon - I have finished painting most of the stuff I have just now! WOW!!! Watch this space, comments on the above stuff very much appreciated! Criticism and suggestions welcome!

I like the converted space marine scout as the sergeant of the first squad. I can't see the visor very well but the light sourcing on the second squad leader looks ace. As you say it's difficult to make out the details of the green camouflage on the second squad, but they look to me very much like they would be well camouflaged in amongst some bushes so I call that a successful camouflage scheme!

Ooooh, love the guys with the PI visored heads and the source lighting! Some of your best this far, really. Brains is right up there as well, brings some nostalgia into the mix!

Those lighting effects are superb, excellent work on those bud. Not sure which basing I prefer though. I like the brown with grass but the one on the leader looks pretty swish.

The mix of kit and heads works surprisingly well.. damn you!

Re: BFG Imperials, Scratchbuilt Orks and 17th Flexeberg IG!

Dragon Lord - Thank you kindly, though the picture quality has indeed robbed the camo and OSL of some detail. I think if I ever go for a proper force of Guard the vets will have the camo scheme while the rank and file can have the khaki scheme.

BeatTheBeat - Thanks mate! I too am really pleased with this work, definitely some of my best stuff!

Gomez - I have your generosity to thank yes indeed I agree on the basing, I like the woodland one better.

I was at a loose end while watching my Star Trek omnibus... And I do like the recent work I've done with Charadon Granite and OSL... So I painted up this Marine Exemplar! *Ack* The extreme closeup has been rather unforgiving!

Its an old figure so some detail is lost BUT it took like 5 mins. I could easily see myself speed painting an army of these. Thoughts on the scheme? I like the simple battle damage, I think once properly based he will look quite nice.

Criticisms and thoughts very welcome, hope everyone has had a good weekend

Looking really good for a five min job! My only criticism is the OSL, I think you should remove it all from his forehead and leave the rest as it wouldn't realistically shine there. That would add a lot to the model I think!

    Lookin neato JR!

I'll agree with the above though. The IG helmets have a better visor light than the marine. I think pretty much only the edges under the eyes (where I typically keep bags) is the only place you'd get any reflection outwards. I really like the guard though.
Horus' Throne Room / Imperial Town - re-opened, hurrah!

Dannage is currently seeking conversion bits to turn Cadian guardsmen and Orks into casualties. If anyone in the South East of England has some bits they are willing to convert or cast up, pm me regards samples and costs.

For a 5min job that marine is excellent, I wish I could do that in 5 minutes!
The scheme as a whole I like, and I like the battle damage but I agree with Dannage about the source lighting.

Looking forward to seeing the new ships.

Re: BFG Imperials, Scratchbuilt Orks and 17th Flexeberg IG!

Dragonlord - Glad you like the scheme, if I decide to go for Marines properly I may try a variation of this method. I seem to have a real affinity with Charadon Granite, I'm using it in everything I paint right now!

I placed an order with Hasslefree in preparation for a project with a certain creepy person. I can't recommend this company enough.

    1. Firstly, delivery in like two days. I was genuinely taken aback at the speed of service.
    2. Secondly, the sculpts are beautiful. No seriously, right down to one of the figures putting a cartridge into her shotgun breech (how the heck am I going to paint in there?). There is practically zero flash or mould lines.
    3. Thirdly, I got a sweetie in the package too. Must get round to eating that.

Here's a bad picture but I will list the chaps I've got. As you can see there are different weapon options for several of them. Baker, Kev (seriously tempted to go for the axe option!), Ving Rhames (shut up, it's definitely him) and a cool looking chap I may call The Corporal. Out of shot is Madge, who I may end up painting to match with a photo of my grandma, who I miss very much.

I've also received a very nice looking Systems Trooper from Pig Iron, courtesy of Gomez (thanks buddy!). He has requested that I paint him up nice n bright, which I am looking forward to. The model itself looks totally badass, I am tempted to buy a bunch of these and use them as Stormtroopers. Ideas for a scheme, guys? I'm thinking red should go in there somewhere?

Your suggestions for paint schemes for any of the characters in this post are very much appreciated! I am really looking forward to painting all these individuals!

    Oi... actually, fair assessment.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with them. Your paintings been on top form recently and some of these have nice big areas you can play around with (Kevs jacket for example, usually gets some free hand - no pressure). Anyway you had them 24 hours now. Come on, get a move on - my first two minis are nearly done *smug* and one of thems in yellow *extra smug*

    And reply to your PM's!
Also forgot to ask, what base size we going with? Normal round 25mm?

Greetings! Ow! I just kicked the side of my desk in the excitement at posting an update

Just a little post from me - myself and Gomez have started up a little log to satiate our lust for zombies and all things zombie hunter (ooer missus).

It was fun to paint these two fellas - as suspected it was really therapeutic to break out some bright colours!

Glad you like the paintjobs, man! Yes, these sculpts are really nice. Once the basing is done and their buddies are painted up I think this posse will be looking really good! Unfortunately I have run our of knarloc green, which is vital for the next dude

    But speaking of bright colours...

Yes!! It's a Brazen Minotaur!! How long has it been since I painted one of them? I wanted to experiment with painting bronze/ gold using washes and it's been pretty interesting. Also had a crack at blacklining some of the panels and other areas for the first time. And watering my highlights down to tthe point of insanity.

I like his pose, there's a certain dynamism behind it. The bolt weapons are a bit patchy - I would paint them differently a second time. Thoughts? While refreshing to do another bright piece I think an army of them might prove rather blinding? I dunno, the picture has come out rather well!
