76th Elysian, Night Ops !

Hi!

Yesterday I got bored so I decided to paint and convert a Commissar to fit my new Elysians.

I already have one HQ command Squad and the entire army will be shipped in a couple of weeks.

Here's what I started :

Nice start! I like the night ops scheme. It goes along well with the elysian models. Maybe you could try to highlight the black a little though, it would make them more alive.

What else have you planned for your army? What can we expect next?

The whole army comes with 3 Valkyries, 1 Vendetta, 2 HQ command squads and 5 veteran squads. I'll receive 3 valkyries and elysian respirator heads this week so expect some news soon

Hi !

today I received my Valkyries and my lascutter squad !

I bought the squad for only one reason : use the guardman with scanner to count as an astropath. Here's what I did :



I tried to make the grey a little brighter and the black a little less dark.

Those look really nice! You are doing quite good actually and you paint faster then most (that includes me!). I got another suggestion if you want: truy drybrushing some browns on the boots and maybe knees of your models, it will tie them with their base and give a sens of action (running around in the sand/dirt, kneeling to take point, etc.)

That's funny, I was planning a list quite similar to yours! If you have an army list done, can you post it eventually?

Wow, they look pretty sweet, all it would take is a tiny drybrush to really make them pop,

Nice Elysians, svinkelz! Original idea for the Astropath. My compliments for the Commissar, I used to dislike that head from the Baneblade sprue, but your painting actually makes him look hardcore. Keep it up!

heh, the thing thats making me laugh about this is the use of plasma weapons,

all nice and blacked out carrying glow in the dark guns :P

Any ideas for a master of ordnance?

in fact I didn't even think of adding another kind of "specialist" in my army because Elysians do not make use of ordnance. But just for fun I'll give it a try probably an Elysian with a "giant" radio and optic enhancement.

about that, I was thinking of making green light effects on all guardmen with plasma guns but it appears that it make A LOT of my guardmen "glowing"! It's a "night ops" army and I was scared it becomes a "saturday night ops" army

do you mean on the armour ? I've already tried to "enlight" the dark grey a little ...

If you have an army list done, can you post it eventually?

The army is split in two parts : the ground units (HQ+2 missile launcher squads) and the "airborne" assault units which stay in reserve and strike wherever it is usefull. I was not sure off the exact translation between my version (french) and yours so I apologize for it if it's not quite the same.


Here's a shot of my first painted Valk and her sisters ! I need to brush it a little and make the light more "glowing"




I'll probably paint some Stormtroopers just for fun and train a little before my Elysians finally arrive !

But since this is en english forum, I'll stick to this for now! I like your list, I'm working on mine as I said and it has a lot in common with yours. When it is ready, I can post it if you like so we can compare.

Have you considered droping some upgrades (demo and camo-cloak) and adding a small Stormtrooper squad for infiltration or DS tank hunting? Could be a nice add-on and a good harrying squad to safeguard your flyers. Either they could kill the enemy's AT weapons or draw some fire on themselves.

Looking good, black with red trim is a great color scheme for that coat, and the rest of the squad is impressive as well. I agree that dustying up the boots and kneepads a bit would really tie the whole thing together with those great bases. I don't know enough about these kinds of armies to know if your astropath is "accurate" or not, but it's a very cool mini, I always like models who have random stuff to go with them, makes them really stand out from the usual mix of action poses. Good work and look forward to more, cheers!

Hi,

I'm now working on my army list again . If I drop all veteran squads upgrades, I'll only save 150pts or 170pts if I also drop my command squad camo cloaks. But I'll no longer have my demo charges

I'll test my army list this week and see how it behaves.

I was a little busy those days so I didn't work much on my painting. I'll try dustying boots and kneepads this evening and post some pics later.

Hi,

as I said before I was a little busy those days but today I took time to paint a little.

A shot of my HQ command squad with its new dusty wargear :



You'll probably notice the stormtroopers in the background but I didn't finish painting them and to be honest, I don't really like those minis as well as the kasrkins ones.

And my first Valkyrie nearly finished :



I still miss my Elysian heads to finish it . Just a few scratches on her body and battle damages to fit the idea of a veteran army.

I hope FW will send my pilots head soon so that I'll have my whole squadron done before the troopers arrive !
