I've had a huge painting block recently and this is probably the first model I've finished in about 9 months which is quite the stretch given that I've only been painting for just under two years. I rushed through the mini for fear of putting it down and stopping so it's a bit messy but it feels good to have finished a mini. The only part I'm not happy with is the base, I tried for a desrty, sandy look but it looks like plain GW sand () so any ideas for that would be well received. Criticism and feedback is more than welcome.

I've also chucked it on CMoN (my first mini there) if you want to take a look.

Maybe another drybrush of Bleached Bone over the sand?

I think he looks great. His face is a little plain, but the subtle highlights on the purple are excellent!

Looks good, maybe the highlights could be stronger in some areas, or maybe just more of them, the slightly wierd photos may be detracting from the mini though.

For the base, sand often looks goo if it's not too yellowy, try starting from a 1:1:1 mix bleached bone, sunburst yellow, bestial brown, then go up through a 1:1 mix of SB yellow and BB, then just BB, that gives quite a good sandy effect IIRC.
