Anything but my Eldar

Eldar were my first love... and they will be my last. But every once in a while you need something different. Just a single model to paint or maybe an entire army to paint, model and play with. This is my log for just that. My Eldar already have a log of their own (it's prety nice actualy, you should check it out sometime! ).

So, what will you be seeing in this log? First up are my Deathguard which were painted and modeled to the old codex, when you could still play an entire Deathguard amry. I will be showing it the way i used to play it, but if you shuffle some models around a bit it is still a great army under the new codex.


First up is the Lord with his Chosen retinue.



And because he thinks he's all that, the Lord asked for some single pictures. So here he is on his own.

Seems i have some extra time to upload som more pictures. So here are the Deamons. In the old codex these toughness 5 fellows were the business so thats why i have four units of them. These are actually two different units. One is plain flesh coloured and the other has patches of green on their skin to keep them apart on the battlefield.

And the green Deamons, one unit has some flesh coloured patches to distinguise them from the others.

I really like the scythe that the Lord is holding. The color you used for the skin of the Demon Prince is extremely Nurgle-y. I also really like how you did the eyes of the Plaguebearers, the orange glowing effect is creepy as hell.

Together with the four Plaguebearer units these two Squads used to fill out all six Troops choices in the army.

First Squad armed with two plasmaguns and a powersword.



And the second squad also armed with two plasmaguns and a powersword.



The wooden shields are from the fantasy Orc Boys sprue. I think the wooden shields, wich represent Icons of Nurgle in the army, match nicely with the woodwork on some of the bolters and with the ramshackle apperance of the Deathguard in general.
These units and the Havoc units use a mix of all metal models and the Deathguard Havocs boxed set models wich are plastic metal hybrids. Throughout the units are some minor conversions, but to be honest they aren't very complicated ones.

Nice to see you've found your way to this log to Ganymene. And don't worry, it's not just an advertisement for my Deathguard. There will be a lot more projects here.

The scythe is from the Fantasy Lord of Nurgle on Deamonic Steed. The bright orange eyes contrast well with the muted overall tone of the models i think.

Thanks for notecing Kriegfreak. I've tried to sneak some unusual parts in there. Like Khorne Berserker and Imperial Space Marine parst, but also tho odd Fantasy bit. Because there's only a limited number of Deathguard models i had to make some look a bit different.

And again the same unit but this time with three flamers.



This is all the infantry for the army. Up next will be the Dreadnought an two Chaos Predators. Feel free to leave C&C...

When i'm done posting the old stuff i'm probably ready to finally start painting on my Red Scorpions Deathwing army. It has tons of cool Forgeworld stuff in it that is just begging for some paint for over a year now. I also have some random models laying around that just don't seem to get finished because of my Eldar, who as i recall, actually also don't seem to get finished.

I actually found a picture of a test model i did about a year ago. I never finished it but you get the idea.

The Terminator body looks very promising.

I always liked Deathwing, but never really cared for the white/bone color scheme. If the whole army comes out like that black one, it will look fantastic.

Thanks guys, i still have lots of work to do on my Eldar but i'll try and make some time for other projects soon, including the Red Scorpions and some random models.
