a good advice I heard and Personally find quite helpfull is studying Weathered objects. and knowing HOW most of it happens. I.E. Rust and the like start in

nice Guts! I've just finished looking through Harry's log, and now there's another 50 pages of ogre goodness on Lew's log to plough through?
Thanks for the link. I'll be lookin' through all that for the next few days.
I think the hardest thing about weathering is mustering up the courage to potentially ruin a perfectly good paint job. But if done correctly it's very much worth the hazzle.
Which in your case it seems to be, though what really amazes me is how smooth the skin on your ogres looks. I have troubly keeping it that smooth on the faces of my Empire minis, and ogres (sadly) show a lot more skin. So kudos to you.![]()
As usual I couldn't stay focussed for long, so I started painting some other High Elves:
I was not sure if the Shadow Warriors would work at all with my colour scheme, but I think it's alright.
(Yes, I messed up the faces while trying to put in the eyes...)
And because it's fun, heroes:
Then I got something in the mail on Saturday and was sidetracked:
Although I probably won't be able to convince anybody to play Malifaux with me at this point, I could not pass on Colette and her gang.
Although she's still very much WIP I'm a bit proud of how the base turned out. It's marvelous what you can do with two coffee stirers and five minute's time.
And then there was yet more mail today...
About one and a half hours for the base colours, that's not too bad. Looking at how they did the feathers in the studio paint job, that's probably gonna take weeks, though.

That's a lovely Maulifax mini. Paint job is lookin' promising. Any pics of the rest of the gang?
wow what scale is the Maulifax fig? elf lord is shaping up nicely, can't wait to see it all finished
Very cool maulifax model.. always did like that range of models.. though have to agree that it is hard to get more people interested in new games.. but get the gang painted up and maybe a second rival gang and you would be surprised how many people will be up for a trial game
Looking forward to seeing your progress on the HE Lord.
Since the last three posters have disturbed my Spelling Sense (I was bitten by a radioactive spelling bee when I was small), I'll have to say that's a nice looking Malifaux model. It's not a mauled fax.![]()

You get a lot of mail...
I like that one chick. She looks cool and nice paintjob on her.
And mrtn, DON't give me a good reason to start photoshopping a Superhero for you!

malifaux? mauled fax? Right-o! I'll go write some game rules for disrupting communique sent electronically by an unforgiving spelling overlord in a bee suit to his oppressed subjects now...
You have the starter set already?*jealous*
I think your color scheme looks really good on the Shadow Warriors btw.
Man, you got cracking on that IoB set quickly enough! And you did a cracking job on Colette too!
Not yet, but I'll get a pic soon. For some reason I keep forgetting to get more coffee stirrers for the bases, though.
32mm, but a little less heroic than Warhammer minis, so they are more slender.
Regrettably my friendly local game store had to close last year, and since then I don't even know where to look for people to play against.
Well, there is another store in town, but it's less local and far less friendly. I used to play Magic there some 15 years ago and I swear that most of the stock hasn't changed since then. Even the colour has faded from most of the stuff on the shelves. And the proprietor looks like the parody of a TV show host from the Home Shopping Network.
I have to admit that I kinda like "Maulifax".
I'd play that!
Thank you.
It may be a bit too early to tell, really, but thanks.
I do...
The last thing I got (aside from some books, but you guys probably wouldn't care about those) is the Verdigris glaze from Vallejo I've been waiting for.
Not too thrilled about the result, though:
I know Lew mixes it with some other paints instead of using it straight out of the bottle, so I should try that, too. Doesn't work as a second layer on my mix of turquoise and green as I had hoped.
And then there's this guy:
So sick of that. There is only about 20-30 minutes of work in that paintjob so far, before a simple highlight and some details, but...
...it adds up!
And the list I had in mind for the ToFP doesn't even have Swordmasters...I better rewrite that list now.

Those Swordmasters look pretty awesome. Your H'elves look kinda like pirates to me, which can only be a good thing!

Oo the swordmasters are lookin' really spiffy. You'll soon have to do an army shot for us![]()
Haha, yes, that'd be entertaining for a while eh?Originally Posted by EmperorNorton

So far I have about 1250 points or so, but everything only half finished, so the army shot will have to wait.
That's still not all of the gang, but I have yet two bases to finish.
And now that these were ready I couldn't help but start painting them. Yay, more unfinished stuff!
Thanks. I don't really know where you get the pirate vibe from, but I won't complain.

Those swordmasters look ace, at first I wasn't sure what to think of all that purple in your high elves, but I'm kinda beginning to see the big picture now. I like it .

I should really get over to Random project logs more often, as ever the quantity, quality and breadth of your work is exceptional EmperorNorton. Your High Elf Colour scheme is one of the most innovative that I have ever seen, even a small number of units will create a striking and unique looking army. Your September TOFP submission should be great.
Your work on the Ogres is good too, the masses of skin can seem like a chore but I think you are doing a top job on it, and as you have said the small model count makes things a little easier. Finally that Colette model is excellent, may get myself one of those.

What's the game like? Is it any good?
