Hello!

Edit:18/8-2012: I have started a new Skaven army, it's progress starts on page 4 of this blog. I also have a Mordheim Witch Hunters Warband that is practically finished on page 9 as well.

I thought i would share my Skaven army with you guys so im starting a new thread dedicated only to skaven instead of hijacking my own old threads.

I will start with a little little army background.
The clan is comprised of members from all the major clans, including Moulder, Skryre, Eshin and Pestilence. The clan has found a big warpstone vein that they mine and guard furiously to pay for the major clans services. The black Skaven Bruck is the clan warlord and official leader.



LORDS


Warlord Bruck
Hes Converted and made from the following bits: Old Monopose Beastman legs, Tail is from Tomb Kings Chariot Whips, the spikes are from the clanrat shield Emblems, the torso is a Chaos Space marine torso, the arms are from the Empire Knights. his sword arm is the banner bearer arm. the sword is made from plasic Card. The shield is a Gong from the Plauge Monks sprue, head is from the Plastic Rat ogre packmaster. Chain Mail skirt, the Clawed Feet, Tail and the ankle Guards are made from Green Stuff. banner is also from the plastic Plauge Monks.


Grey Seer Nagrat
The Grey Seer is converted using a Plauge Monk head, Empire Wizard Plastic kit and the horns are from the Plastic Beastman sprue. he is filed down to make him shorter and more hunched.

Eshin Sorceror Nighteyes
The Sorceror is made from the Empire Wizard Kit and Plauge Monks Head. the tail is from an old Giant Rat.


Battle Standard Bearer Girch
The battle Standard bearer is made from a Plastic Pack Master from the Rat Ogres box (i wanted the armoured body) the left arm with club is the musicians arm from the clanrat box. the club head is from the Night Runners box.


Warlock Engineer Buchack
Buchack is also made from the Plastic Pack Master. the backpack is a chaos Space marine backpack with bells from the Zombie kit, the brass orbs are from the gong in the Plauge Monks sprue. his Right arm is a Chaos Space marine power fist. the staff is made from a Clanrat spear arm and the rest is from the Tau Empire Kroot Rifles. the tube in the backpack is from the gun arm from the Rat Ogre pack. he also has some accessory from the Kroot box.

Shauku is made from an old Chaos Sorceror. the mouth is from a giant Rat and the tail is from a clanrat.

Color themes for the different Clans in the army:
Eshin is black highlighted with purple, ie. purple robes
Moulder will have dark red robes
Pestilence have brown robes with a Scaly green hood.
Skryre have light brown/cream coloured robes with black and yellow hoods.

Great stuff. I really like the eshin sorceror in particular, that's a really creative use of the empire wizard kit.

Heres my Banner of Burning Hatred. this is my first serious attempt at freehand! im pretty pleased. ^^ i think the eyes look like they explode with hatred as well as the expression of the rat on the banner. im also really happy about the warpstone on the top of the banner. its done with Dark angels green as basecoat, hightlighted with Dark Angels green Mixed with Scorpion Green about 3:1 first time then i just added more Scorpion Green to the mix until it was only Scorpion Green, i mixed it quite drastically, like 3:1, 2:1, 1:1, parts Dark angels Green and scorpion Green. then i did scorpion green Skull White 2:1, 1:1 at the very edges. then i gave it all a wash of thinned down Dark Green Ink to tie in the contrast in the highlights and to give it some shine. ^^

@Feefait: ive not played with it yet. But i might use it as a, i dunno, Giant? or a Burrowing behemoth from the Hell Pit Army List featured in white dwarf. Ive read rumours of a big big rat for the new Skaven book so if those rumors are true, well then i will use it as one of those big things.


Gutter Runners!
Ive started on this months vows and i have laid up a plan on how much to do each day to make it, i just started and i am already behind schedule. =P


Heres my Ratling Guns i just painted. I did not enjoy painting the metal one. too many fiddly details. but i just run them over with my wash to make them all visible. if i will have any more Ratling guns i will most certainly build them myself!

Heres the finished Rat Ogre Unit. once the Packmasters have dried and been based i will update the pics again.

I would use the Behemoth as a gaint, as the WD list is very special and you would need to get rid of half your other stuff to use it.

I usually don't like Skaven stuff, but I really like your wizard conversions, especially the second one, he looks totally awesome.

@Txan:yeah, true, though ive heard that the new Armybooks dont allow DoW, guess i will have to take it to a game soon then, where i can use it as a giant, but ive heard about a really big rat Rare choise for the new army book. so i hope to use it as one of those things, whatever they are. =)

Heres my second Warlock engineer Rigrag. im pretty happy about his coloursheme as he came out pretty good imo. check out his warts on the tail. im quite proud of those and will do that to the warts/pusbags on my plauge monks too as it gives them a pretty sick feel.


Aaaaand a new character! i couldnt help myself. Soon i can make a small regiment with all my characters alone. =P
its made from an old khorne champion that i snipped the tail off and filed and sawed away his head. i replaced the head with a plauge monk head and sculpted some chainmail.

Well, if the rumours are true that there will be NO new clanrats... it seems that you might have too!!!!!!!

@Txan: im not sure i understand how you mean? should i make my own clanrats cuz there wont be new ones? i know the rumors are that there wont be new clanrats wich is really sad. i have a project im working on from time to time on my own scratch sculpted clanrats that can be found in my other thread. (see Sig)
