    Re: Nordic's Skaven Army Plog

    @Lorcan: thank you. =)

    *Hienous Threadomancy!*

Hello again, ive been gone for a few months. Your assassins didnt get me this time either! :P And i have some new stuff to show you guys, my next conversion!

its a Skryre Warlord on Warlitter conversion, i have used two Epic Ork vehicles, some lego, plasticard, chaos space marine torso, a poison wind globadier backpack, rat ogre armor, a packmaster head, some imperial guard weapon team Tripod and probably some other bits and pieces i cant remember.
He will be geared with; Warlitter, Tailweapon, Warpstone Armour, Foul Pendant, probably a Weeping Blade and a Shield.
The armor and tailweapon is in place on the warlord, so what i have left to do is a foul pendant, shield, and a weeping blade. The arms are the biggest problem right now, because i want arms similiar to the epic model(i think its a epic model) in the top picture. so they need to be pretty big so i have to scratchbuild it with plasticard, wich im not that good with but what the heck, its skaven. it doesnt need to be outstanding craftsmanship. :P

    Hope you like it. =)

Another ingenious, creative (and diabolical! - in the evil sense of the word) conversion.

For the arms, isn't there any way you can use normal skaven arms and build stuff up around them. If you wanted them bigger you could always cut them into two or three sections (hands, forearms, upper arms) and join them up with wire, almost as though he had gone to the lengths of chopping his arms into bits just so that he could install some experimental weaponry.

Whatever you decide to do, I can wait to see the next step!

Hey Nordic, great use of the old epic ork traktor cannons I completely forgot about them until I saw your conversion........memories. The model you're using as inspiration is an old rogue trader era 40k chaos blood slaughterer. GW scaled it up and released it in epic as the Lord of Battle, basically a Khornate mini titan. Arm-wise, do you have access to any old skool necrons? Failing that maybe try out the cadian cmd squad for a bionic arm or scratch build one out of platicard pipes.

    Re: Nordic's Skaven Army Plog

    @Warh: thanks alot mate. =)

@Elfboy: A good suggestion. we will see what i do. i have lengthened arms with plasticard before and that worked quite well.

@Kiwichild: Nice! i knew it was khorne and probably epic but thanks for the rest of the info. =)
And sadly nope, i dont have any of those things you describe. not even plasticard pipes. =( i have already used my bionic arm from the cadian command sprue.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! i really appriciate it cuz im rather stuck atm.

Loving your Skaven Nordic, however, some of the pics appear to not be showing, do you have any of your globadiers, by perchance? How is the warlord doing?

@Kiwichild: well i have been doing some brown stuff fingers on the powerfist to hold the sword. i guess i should do something similar to the shield hand as well.

DISCLAIMER: i will probably not update this log in a long while because i have studies that take up alot of my time.

Hey Nordic, you've put together a fantastic looking army! Love that Carnosaur rat, I take it he'll be a Hell Pit Abomination?

Totally pinching the litter conversion idea! Nice stuff here, I love the Carnosaur -> HPA conversion too, miles cooler than the real HPA model (which I hate!).

    Re: Nordic's Skaven Army Plog

    Threadomancy!

As I said in the disclaimer I had studies. Still do, but now it's a new school.

Right.. So I have moved from home and left my old skaven there. I have been hesitant to buy the new skaven since the new models came out because they wouldn't fit in with the old monkey-skaven that I have. So Instead of adding to that old army I'll start a new one from scratch!
So what better way than to buy a IoB pack? Man it's a great box! Luv it!

I want some help with ideas, a theme for the army, if anyone has any suggestions or armies that are inspiring I would gladly like to see them!
I have been thinking about a town theme with cobblestones or something as if they were invading a imperial city or maybe a underground theme. It's only loose ideas and I'm open for suggestions! I want to avoid the brown theme I had going on with my old army.
Painting tips are welcome as well! I don't want to make a big mass of brown like my old army was.

    Back in action, eh Nordic?
The cobblestone bases sounds like a cool idea to go on and will definitely help make them stand out. If you don't want a mass of brown try varying the shades of their fur. I know black and white fur has meanings to Skaven and are unusual but maybe sandy coloured fur?
If you really want you could try painting their clothes in really bright colours, I know it's not very skaven-like but they'll definitely stand out and if you do end up painting lots of brown again then the gaudy clothes will break it up a bit!

My mother have sent me my copy of the army book and the heraldry of the skaven but they have yet to arrive, hopefully there's a good color scheme in there that will inspire me.

I made a Cobblestone test effect I saw this technique somewhere either here on warseer or on the underempire, creds to whoever came up with the idea! But I'm not quite sure if I like the effect. Maybe I should paint it first before I dismiss it completely.

Yesterday I painted the rusty metal on one of the regiments while I wait for the Army Quick Shade to arrive. Hopefully it will come in two weeks time, My LGS has a reputation of not being too quick when it comes to orders.
It's basecoated with vermin brown then drybrushed/stippled with chainmail.

The cobblestones look nice, try painting it. The skaven heraldry book is great, I saw on the GW site one guy made a Clan Skurvy themed army, nautical Skaven!

Painted it, looked like crap. The skurvy colours are pretty cool, black and yellow. Just like the local hockey team here in Skellefteå, Sweden.

Got me two of these stones but so far I have only made one mould. I really like this stone surface! Much better than the round cobblestone.

This is the first painted clanrat ready for dipping. These new skaven are really fun to paint! The dip will hopefully arrive in two weeks, in the meantime I'll just base paint the army. If I finish this bunch before the dip arrives I'll probably get another IoB box and paint that up as well.

Edit: I just came up with a theme! how about an Empire themed skaven army, like the one in the first grey seer novel? Feathers and puffed arms and looted empire bits and the like. That way I can use the theme as an excuse to buy some of the new Empire stuff. :P Imagine the new empire griffon converted into a Hell Pit Abomination!
Guess I'll paint over the yellow and make them Under-Altdorf-themed or something?

    C&C appriciated.

Ooh, that Empire theme sounds great! Sadly I haven't read the Grey Seer novel, but I did read the one set in Lustria.
